Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 Phone Review

Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 Phone Review

Samsung Focus phone, with state-of-art Windows Phone 7 OS, a huge 4″ Super-AMOLED display and photo enhanced function for better viewing, and ultrathin body for grasping. Now let’s see Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 Phone for more details.

1. Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 phone—Body & Design

Samsung Focus cell phone is light and slim, with the dimension of 123 x 65 x 10 mm and weight of 115g, because of its plastic material. The streamlined body with ultrathin 9.9 mm thickness makes Samsung Focus glossy, elegant and grasp-friendly.

(1) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Front

Samsung Focus cell phone offers 3 virtual keys (Return, Menu and Search) underneath a 4-inch huge touchscreen. The logos of “Samsung” and “AT&T” on the face, as well as “Windows Phone” on the rear indicate its identity—Samsung Focus is a cell phone with windows Phone 7 OS and is co-developed by Samsung and AT&T.

a. Samsung Focus—Screen

The selling point of Samsung Focus cell phone is its vivid Super-AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 480x 800 high resolutions, which is ever applied to Samsung Galaxy series, bringing vivid viewing experience. Even in the open air, the image of screen is still vibrant.

b. Samsung Focus—Interface

The innovative interface of Windows Phone 7 OS breaks the stereotype, offering users different experience. Thanks to the WP7 OS, all the operation on Samsung Focus cell phone is smooth. It is worth mentioning that the screen switching and the speed of power on/off are faster and steadier than other phones. Samsung “Focus” focuses on every details, even the Samsung Hub and lock screen interface is also more authentic than that of HTC surround.

(2) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Rear

Samsung Focus cell phone is glossy with engineering plastic material and the drawing processing in the rear, which greatly improves its quality. Distinguished V-lines in the rear of Samsung Focus makes it seem to have a third dimension.

In addition, you will also notice an AF 5MP camera with LED flashlight and a loudspeaker on the rear side. After removing the rear cover, you will find SIM and microSD card slots, together with a 1500 mAh battery like Samsung Galaxy S. Please don’t remove the Micro SD card when it is in use, otherwise Samsung Focus will restore to factory reset. If you insert it again, everything will return to normal.

(3) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Keys and Ports

Top: a 3.5mm headset jack and microUSB port

Right: The power key of Focus is present on the right, which is not the same as most others that are found on the top side. You will also find a shutter key on the side.

Left: a volume rocker with chrome accented trim

2. Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 phone—Configuration

Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 phone comes with 1GHz Snapdragon QSD 8250 processor, but the 256MB of RAM seems to be slightly smaller than other Windows Phone 7 phones (512MB). But according to the news, Samsung confirmed they will offer 512MB RAM in November.

In addition, Samsung Focus cell phone also supports a microSD expansion slot for up to 40GB memory, including 4GB internal). When it comes to connectivity, Samsung Focus supports a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, microUSB 2.0, A-GPS and more.

(1) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Camera

Samsung Focus windows phone 7 phone is impressive in terms of color restoration and details, with an AF 5MP camera with LED flashlight, but you can’t half press the shutter key to focus. Similar to HDR in iPhone, Samsung Focus adopts the WDR (wide dynamic range) technology, bringing a good performance on capturing still life photos. However, we are a bit disappointed with its 720P video recording effect with Low saturation and frame rate.

(2) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Battery

Some people are likely to be worried a 1500mAh battery of Samsung Focus can’t feed its electronic-guzzling functions, like those Sky Drive photo syncs. In the test, we find that Samsung Focus will keep on working for more than one day even on heavy days of calling, emailing, gaming and browsing. Focus will support about 2 days with moderate use. When it drops into 10%-15% of battery power, please remember to charge it ASAP.

(3) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Speech Quality

Samsung Focus Windows phone 7 phone has a good speech quality in normal environment. Although it supports dynamic noise reduction chip, the performance is not satisfied in noise test. Besides, Samsung Focus has high volume with powerful loudspeaker, but it will cause volume distortion at the same time.

3. Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 phone—Summary

Do you focus on this “Focus” phone? Samsung Focus Windows Phone 7 phone is your best bet, which left us a deep impression on its vibrant super-AMOLED display, innovative Windows Phone 7 OS, and smooth & steady performance. We really hope more functions, like Fast Application switchover, copy and paste, will be applied to Samsung Focus cell phone in the near future.

(1) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Pos:

Fast, smooth and state-of-art Windows Phone 7 OS
Vibrant Super-AMOLED screen display
Ultrathin and light body
Expandable memory up to 40G (including 4GB internal)

(2) Samsung Focus Cell Phone—Cons:

Damaging batteries in laptops for Windows 7?

Damaging batteries in laptops for Windows 7?

More and more users Laptop (Especially HP and Acer) , who have installed Windows 7 are faced with the problem , namely, a message appears: ” please consider sharing Battery”. Frequently it happens after the laptop battery discharge . Most of the cases appeared to switch between Vista and Laptops shares were bought during the so-called . “Windows 7 Upgrade ” so Batteries after such a short period of time should not refuse to obey. After you receive this message laptop battery holds about 5 minutes.

I became interested in this problem when this happened to my laptop , which has a few months and after that the Dell Inspiron 6400 battery should not behave . As is well known warranty the battery lasts only half a year , so the thread from the exchange . On the Internet there is a lot of people describing this problem, but so far it is not Solutions(Unless the battery replacement ).

Is it possible that Windows 7 was not set up power management and uszkadzał electronics in the Thinkpad x61 tablet battery ? As we know, batteries for laptops are not cheap , so if Windows is Microsoft should donate money for loss the equipment due to their use Software. I wonder what would Microsoft , because at the moment is silent ? Are there any plans to release a patch before people declare massive lawsuit ?

Lenovo(Thinkpad R61e Battery) also introduced upgraded desktops in accordance with the Energy Star 4.0, including the ThinkCentre M55 in tower, desktop and small (SFF ), and over the next few weeks the new desktops . The ThinkCentre M55 reduces energy consumption by up to 52% compared with previous generations of desktops. Universal Updater for Windows 7

Universal Updater for Windows 7

Apple took some criticism last month for flicking the iPhone Configuration Utility to Windows users who have the Apple Updater Software installed. The software was completely useless for computer users and to those who don’t even own iPhones. In the way, this underscores a basic defect that Windows allows third-party software updates to run indiscriminately on people’s computers. Universal Updater application is the solution which provides a control on how software developers push windows 7 updates to users.

There is no cause that we need to have particular updater applications for Windows, Java, Apple, Adobe, McAfee and others. All we really need is one application that can manage updates to all the softwares. Also it could allow users to configure what types of updates are permitted, how applications get updated, how notifications appear and when the updates are allowed to occur.

The universal updater used by software developers, would need to agree to a policy governing how the application is to be used. If the user doesn’t wants a update or hasn’t requested it then they need to be prevented from these secretly deploying application. It means that there should not be unwanted demos of other applications or browser toolbars. The software developers who violate this policy would have their updates blocked.

Although CCleaner is a great utility which, amongst other windows 7 features, provides a single location for deleting all startup items but, It is tedious to remove updaters from various startup locations and it also defeats the utility of having up to date applications. A universal updater application would solve this problem, will allow some control to the user and also keep all the applications up to date.

Although, there might be a few barriers to implement a Universal Updater. It is also not easy to get software developers to agree to use it, but doing so would provide a relief to computer users and would make Windows 7 a cleaner platform.

Windows Mobile®, Now ‘Windows Phone 7 Series’

Windows Mobile®, Now ‘Windows Phone 7 Series’

The Mobile World Congress started this week in Barcelona, Spain, and announcements have been plentiful and exciting. One of the most anticipated players this year, Microsoft, announced an entirely new mobile operating system: Windows Phone 7 Series.

Microsoft has been a major player in mobile operating systems for many years, but has been declining recently despite their recent release of Windows Mobile® 6.5, which only received mediocre reviews. However Microsoft has all but abandoned its previous model and completely redesigned its new OS to provide a much better user experience and to compete with the iPhone™ and Android™ operating systems.

“In a crowded market filled with phones that look the same and do the same things, I challenged the team to deliver a different kind of mobile experience,” said Steve Ballmer, CEO at Microsoft. “Windows Phone 7 Series marks a turning point toward phones that truly reflect the speed of people’s lives and their need to connect to other people and all kinds of seamless experiences.”

What is so different about Windows Phone 7 Series? First, users will notice that the homepage is a completely new approach to phone interfaces. Microsoft’s new approach actually treats it as a mobile device, instead of mini desktop computer. Instead of the traditional 4×4 list of icons, Microsoft has replaced them with large, crisp sections that engage users and provide real time information without having to open and close each application.

Windows Phone 7 Series is also formatted around a “hub system,” which aggregates data into six hubs that emphasize specific themes. The hubs are People, Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Marketplace, and Office.

Each hub is designed to integrate the Web, applications and services into a single area. For example, the People hub compiles information from your contacts, social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and allows you to easily post updates or respond to people without the need to open and navigate through a series of pages or applications.

Microsoft also offers the Office hub which is probably one of the most exciting features of the new OS. This allows coordination between Office applications, OneNote®, and the SharePoint® workspace. It also incorporates the power of Outlook® Mobile, which allows users to access their Outlook email while out of the office.

Also included is the Games hub which allows mobile access into XBOX LIVE®, and lets users access the XBOX LIVE community, which has over 23 million users, and check up on what is happening in the gaming world. This is separate from the Marketplace hub, which is where users can go to download or launch custom apps, similar to the Apple® iPhone App Store.

Little has been said about the software development kit and about custom application development for Windows Phone 7 Series, however Microsoft did say that they will disclose more information and development details next month in Las Vegas at Microsoft’s Mix conference. However, we do know that Microsoft will have their own app store, and that they will support custom application development.

At Mix, we also expect to find out if Microsoft will support Silverlight®, Adobe Flash® and Adobe Air®, and whether apps developed for Windows Mobile 6.5 will be compatible with the new version.

Flash and Silverlight capabilities would make application development much more cost effective since they would be compatible with any other device that can run Flash or Silverlight. Also, many Web sites use Flash or Silverlight and are currently inaccessible on mobile phones. By increasing Silverlight and Flash support, custom application development becomes much more practical for those that are interested.

This means that for each app developed for mobile Flash or Silverlight would be theoretically be available on all Flash or Silverlight compatible devices, even if they use different operating systems.   This prevents the need to develop multiple versions of the same application in order to reach people on multiple platforms. However, Silverlight and Flash compatibility is not limited to only Windows Mobile 7 Series phones, as other platforms, such as Android, are expected to get it this year as well.

Overall, we at Amadeus Consulting are very excited about the Windows Phone 7 Series OS. We have been working on Microsoft products since we started in 1994, and not only are we a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, but we enjoy Microsoft Partner Competencies in Mobility Solutions and have a long history developing for Microsoft mobile products. Or as our developers would put it, we’re just anxious to get our hands on the new system, take it apart and see how it works, and then put it all back together again to begin helping our customers develop custom applications for the Windows® mobile platform.

Amadeus Consulting Discusses: What Ever Happened to Windows Phone 7?

Amadeus Consulting Discusses: What Ever Happened to Windows Phone 7?

Earlier this year, Microsoft® announced Windows® Phone 7 (initially called Windows Phone 7 Series), which will become its next offering in the mobile operating system market. In conjunction with the announcement, Amadeus Consulting also announced that we are offering preliminary development of custom applications for Windows Phone 7 so that companies can have applications ready for the launch of the first Windows Phone 7 phones, set to debut later this year.

Since that initial announcement we have seen a lot of interest in custom development for Windows Phone 7 apps, and have had many companies interested in building on the hype that will accompany the initial launch of the first Windows Phone devices.

To help companies interested in a mobile application for future Windows Phone 7 devices, but who are unsure where to start, we have compiled some of the major features of Windows Phone 7, and why they matter. Specifically, this article covers:

What makes Windows Phone 7 unique as an operating system
Why Windows Phone 7 appeals to business users
Silverlight, XNA and other interactive technologies in Windows Phone 7
What to expect from the hardware (the actual phones)
Some insights into the Windows Phone 7 App market
Finding a developer to make the app for you

Also, for those interested in having an application ready on launch day of some of the most anticipated phones yet, there is still time to order a fully custom Windows Phone 7 app for your corporation, business, startup or entrepreneurial venture. Contact us today and let’s get things started before time runs out.

Moving Past Windows Mobile

Windows Phone 7 picks up where Windows Mobile 6.5 left off, but it makes a huge leap forward making the platform very competitive with Apple’s® iOS 4 (Formerly iPhone® OS), and Google’s™ Android™ OS, in terms of features and capability.

In fact, even describing Windows Phone 7 as a “huge leap forward” from Windows Mobile is an understatement. Microsoft has taken a ground-up approach to redesigning its mobile operating system and has improved every aspect of the operating system in a remarkably positive way. They clearly have put a lot of thought, effort and testing into designing a product that is easy and intuitive to use, without skimping on power and capability.

The user interface on Windows Phone 7 is also distinct from Apple’s iOS 4 and Google Android™, which gets rid of the traditional icon view and replaces it with larger blocks and “hubs” that many users say they prefer because of its simplicity and ease of navigation.

Before we jump into some of the specific details, some quick benefits of Windows Phone 7 include:

Complete Microsoft Office® Integration, including Outlook®, Excel®, Word®, Powerpoint®, Calendar, and more
Massive Industry Support, including hardware commitments from Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC, HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Toshiba, and commitments from carriers such as AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone
Support for Silverlight® and XNA® for high quality game development, as well as quick portability of applications across platforms.
Support for 3rd party advertisers and ad integration into applications, including ads in Silverlight®
Emphasis on business productivity, gaming, and community building. A perfect environment for app developers

Unprecedented Business Integration

Windows Phone 7 focuses on is business users. According to Microsoft, 90% of the target customers for Windows Phone use their Smartphone for business purposes, and 61% use their phones equally or slightly more for business than personal use.

As a result, Windows Phone 7 combines familiar tools such as PowerPoint®, OneNote®, Word®, Excel® and SharePoint® into a single integrated experience via the Office® hub. It also integrates rich email, calendar, and contacts, as well as allows businesses to utilize existing IT investments like Exchange and Exchange ActiveSync® to support Windows Phone access to enterprise assets such as corporate email.

In addition to deep integration of Microsoft Office, Windows Phone 7 provides advanced security options, including support for secure data transmission through 128 or 256 bit SSL encryption.

Gaming and Interactivity

Although it appears that the phones will be marketed primarily towards business customers, game developers for Windows Phone 7 will also have a huge advantage with the platforms support of XNA, which is the development system used for gaming on the Zune HD® and Xbox 360®.

Another big feature of the Windows Phone 7 is its full compatibility with Silverlight. Silverlight provides interactive capabilities similar to Adobe® Flash®, and can be run across a multitude of devices and platforms. Microsoft boasts that Silverlight developers will have an incredibly easy time porting their existing applications to the new platform, although there will be some tweaking necessary to comply with the look and feel of the phone UI.

Microsoft has also expressed its intention to provide Silverlight support on the Xbox 360 and Zune HD, which means that developers will eventually be able to bring the same app to the Web, PC, Personal Music Player (PMP), Console and phone with relatively little pain.

Hardware Capabilities

Microsoft has also been flexing its muscle to create minimum standards for the new Windows Phone 7 Phones, which are being manufactured independently. These standards are intended to ensure that applications are as compatible as possible across platforms, rather than requiring different versions of applications for each platform, or limiting features on applications in order to increase compatibility on different devices. These minimum standards include:

At first, only large 800 x 480 (WVGA) touchscreens will be permitted, which means that applications should have little trouble with being visually compatible across different phones – a problem with Android phones which often have different sized displays which creates UI problems.
Five specific hardware buttons are required: Start, back, search (which integrates with Bing services where appropriate), camera button, and power. Some devices might have more, but these are the baseline.
Capacitive multitouch with support for a minimum of four contact points, though no more than two are used by any of the platform’s six native gestures (developers are welcome to use as many as they like).
A Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU with DirectX 9 graphics support. Microsoft says the platform is flexible enough to expand to other chips in the future, but right now it’s all Qualcomm.
256MB of RAM or more
8GB of internal Flash storage or more
WiFi
AGPS
Accelerometer
FM radio!
5 megapixel camera or better with a flash

Microsoft has not yet announced a specific release date for Windows Phone 7 phones, however it is rumored that LG may have phones ready as early as September, with other developers ready by October or November of this year. In addition to LG, many other developers have been confirmed to be working on Windows phones, including Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC, HP, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, and Toshiba. Motorola, which has developed many other mobile and portable devices for Windows Mobile, and Windows Embedded systems, has not yet confirmed that it is developing Windows Phone 7 devices, even though many rumors and reports indicate otherwise.

App Development

As both a positive and negative, development for Windows Phone 7 is substantially different than development was for Windows Mobile.

Windows Phone 7 uses technologies, such as XNA and Silverlight, which are less familiar to most do-it-yourself app developers. This means that there will likely be a smaller number of applications for Windows Phone 7, than for Android™ and iPhone®, but the applications that are available will tend to be much higher quality, since they will be done primarily by experienced developers.

App development also benefits from unique cross-platform integration. This means that with very little additional investment, a mobile application could be transformed into a web app, a program on a PC, an app on the Zune HD (essentially the equivalent of the iPod Touch), and eventually an app on the Xbox 360.

This means that with almost the same investment, an app can potentially return 5x the value as an app on other platforms, which are much more device-limited. Of course, this will be substantially affected by the actual adoption rate of Windows Phone 7 phones, but it nevertheless benefits from the massive player base of Xbox users, being compatible with PCs and the fact that it is usable as a rich Internet application.

As a note on the overall mobile market, Windows Mobile still maintains 19% of the smart phone user base, as of Q1 2010, according to The Nielsen Company. This compares to Android’s 9% share, and Apple iPhone’s 28% share. Although at the time, RIM Blackberry still held the largest share with 35% of the total smart phone market. It will be interesting to see how these numbers change by next year, once the iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 7 operating systems are all in full competition together, added in with new editions of Blackberry and whatever HP and Palm end up throwing into the pile as well.

In either case, this is a unique time for marketers and developers to build and launch applications in conjunction with the initial unveiling of one of the biggest operating systems in the mobile smart phone market.

Also of note is that every major US carrier has made commitments to carry Windows Phone 7 phones. This is a major boon to app developers, since the potential user base for the apps will not be limited by the “population” of an individual carrier. This is different from the iPhone, for example, which is limited to only AT&T’s subscribers.

How To Transfer Ipod Videos Music To Ipad On Windows

—————————————————————–
Question:

I already have a laptop, but it’s a 17 inch dell and weighs 16lbs and I don’t think it’s a good fit for me when I go off to school in August. The price of the iPad is a good bit cheaper than the macbook pro, so I am considering getting an iPad next month, but I don’t know whether I can sync all the music and movie from my iPod to iPad.Does anybody knows how to do?

Reply:

Still by now, apple only allow their users to sync music or other stuffs from PC to iPod device with iTunes. If you sync your iPod/iPhone to a different iTunes library on a different computer, the files on your iPod/iPhone will be erased when your sync. You can use an iPod to computer transfer program to transfer them to your new computer first, and then transfer all the movie/music to your iPad. I personally use wondershare iTransfer to sync movie to my computer and then sync them to other devices
—————————————————————

Earlier this week, Apple has launched their tablet named as iPad. Many said that it is a large iPod
Touch/iPhone, which is true. An iPad looks and feels similar to iPod Touch/iPhone because they all use the same operating system. The only difference is that iPad is running on the iPhone OS 3.2 while other two devices are running on the older version of iPhone OS.and iPad is bigger than iPod, it costs about 0 more than the 8GB IPod Touch. I think all of you can’t wait to get the new Ipad,so do I. If you want to transfer your iPod music videos to iPad then follow the steps given below.

Things You’ll Need:
• One new computer
• Wondershare iTransfer
• Install the latest iTunes
• One iPod and cable

Here is the step by step tutorial for the program:

1 Free download iPod to iPad Transfer and install it.

2. Connect your iPod to computer and then Run the iTransfer application and then the playlists of iPod and iPad will be shown on the left interface.( Don’t let iTunes launch automatically, it will erase your all iPod music).

3. Transfer iPod content to computer
Choose the file you would like to transfer, such as ipod music, videos. It also support batch conversion. You could choose one folder or some files of one folder, and then click the “To Folder”button, choose the file location you‘d like to put.

4.Execute the process of iPod to iPad Transfer.
The following window will pop out when the process of transferring from iPod to computer is finished.

5. Transfer the videos to iPad
Pull out iPod and Connect your iPad to computer, choose “Add files to list” or “Add folder to list” and click “To Device” , then you can copy music/video from your PC to iPad directly without synchronizing iTunes.

Note:With this program, you can not only transfer iPod to ipad, ipod to pc, iPod to iTunes, iPod to iPhone, but also convert video format to iPhone/iPod supported video formats automatically before transfer it to iPhone/iPod. what is more, This transfer works well on synchronizing iTunes library with your iPod/iPhone.
