Touchscreen Mobile Phones Come of Age – Blackberry Storm and Htc Touch Hd

Touchscreen Mobile Phones Come of Age – Blackberry Storm and Htc Touch Hd

Touchscreen mobile phones have walked (well, not literally walked, but you get the point) among us for many years, but only in recent times have they become so prevalent. Now, the next stage of their evolution has happened, and we are witness to two new breeds of touchscreen excellence: the phenomenal Blackberry Storm and the titanic HTC Touch HD.

Why was 2008 the big year for touchscreen mobile phones?

That’s the big question, isn’t it. After all, touchscreen mobile phones have been on the scene for years, so why has this year been so explosive in terms of touchscreen evolution. Well, as much as I hate to admit it, it can be put down largely to 1 mobile phone. The reason I hate to admit it is because it’s the iPhone, a phone I personally loathe. I don’t like it because it’s had so much hype, with Jobs himself, and Apple addicts saying that it’s obviously better than all other mobile phones, and revering it in a way usually only seen with religious icons. Except it isn’t, other mobile phones leave it in the dust in terms of features. It’s not a mobile phone, it’s a flashy toy. The one thing I will concede, though, is that the interface on the iPhone is all swishy and quite nice. THAT’s the bit that’s given mobile phone makers a kick up the backside, and once it did, the race was on for all of them to make their own killer touchscreen mobile phones, from Nokia to Blackberry, from HTC to Samsung. The big two, heading into Christmas, are from Blackberry and HTC, and both of them have something new to offer…

Blackberry Storm – storm in a teacup?

First up is the Blackberry Storm, and it genuinely does bring something new to the world of touchscreen mobile phones; specifically, it brings a whole new type of touchscreen, a clicky touchscreen. Basically the screen on the Blackberry Storm actually moves slightly into the body of the phone, so that when you press down on it, to select something on screen, it feels exactly like you’re pressing a real button. Considering that the Blackberry Storm uses a virtual keyboard for typing emails, that clicky screen is one of the single most useful additions in the history of mobile phones. Basically, no other mobile phones have got it, and the Blackberry Storm is going to sell like hotcakes because of it, AND because it’s downright gorgeous in its own right.

HTC Touch HD – the Titan awakes!

Where the Blackberry Storm is sleek, and smart, there’s another touchscreen mobile phone on it way, which is less ’super-smart bomb’, and more ‘massive nuclear warhead’. Whereas the screen on the Blackberry Storm goes for innovation and cleverness, the screen on the titanic HTC Touch HD goes for sheer size; at 3.8 inches, it’s got a bigger screen than ANY other mobile phones in the entire world. And that’s a good thing, because the HTC Touch HD is essentially and oversized HTC Diamond, and uses the same TouchFLO 3D interface, optimised for finger controls. The vastly enlarged screen on the HTC Touch HD makes this one of the single most perfect touchscreen mobile phones ever imagined, and perfect for touch control. Oh, and of course, the HTC Touch HD also has a 5 megapixel camera, GPS and HSDPA, so it’s probably bang on the money to say that this is the one… Of all the mobile phones released this year, the HTC Touch HD is the iPhone-Killer!

Touchscreen Crazy – Blackberry Storm Vs Htc Touch Hd

Touchscreen Crazy – Blackberry Storm Vs Htc Touch Hd

2008 has been a good year for touchscreens. Mobile phones that have that touchy-feely interface have done really well this year, and this Christmas, we’re going to see a battle between two of the best. But which IS the best – the Blackberry Storm or the HTC Touch HD?

A touching story of mobile phones

Touchscreen mobile phones have been around for years, right from the early days. There’s something about that interface that entices people. Maybe it’s feeling closer to the action, maybe it’s novelty value, but the fact is, touchscreen mobile phones are good sellers. If you needed that message ramming home, consider the success of the iPhone 3G, this year. It’s sold loads, its fanbase is very, very vocal in heaping love on it, and it’s given other mobile phones the impetus to up their game. Here was a mobile phone that took the idea of a touchscreen, and made it focused on giving a great experience to the user. Many mobile phones since then have gone down that same route, and now, in the run-up to Christmas, there are two brand new competitors – the HTC Touch HD and the glorious Blackberry Storm.

HTC Touch HD – the biggest screen in the known universe

The first thing you’ll notice about the HTC Touch HD, the absolute first thing, is the fact that the screen, at 3.8 inches, is bigger than any other mobile phones I’ve ever seen, ever! I mean, that’s just VAST. The only potential downside is that anybody who’s jumped early and bought an HTC Diamond is going to be not best pleased, since the HTC Touch HD is essentially the same mobile phone but with a much bigger screen and a better camera, which now comes in at 5 megapixels. The HTC Touch HD is looking as though it’s going to be a stonkingly good mobile phone, combining raw power with the patented TouchFLO 3D interface seen on the Diamond… and let’s be honest, when you’re a mobile phone with a 3.8 inch screen, you could be rubbish and people’d love you. Good job the HTC Touch HD is also a frighteningly good mobile phone in its own right!

It will have some competition, though, because it’ll be going up against the first ever touchscreen mobile phone from RIM: the phenomenal Blackberry Storm.

Blackberry Storm – storm in a teacup?

If the HTC Touch HD isn’t your cup of tea (say if you don’t like Windows Mobile), there’s another touchscreen mobile phone that will rock the world this Christmas, and it’s a beauty. It’s garnered loads of attention, for being the first touchscreen Blackberry in the history of ever. It’s the gorgeous Blackberry Storm, and it is as good as we all hoped it would be! It’s also super-advanced, because the Blackberry Storm is the first mobile phone to have a moving, clickable screen. So, you scroll through menus by rubbing on the screen, and you select something by pressing the screen into the Blackberry Storm, making it feel just like clicking a button. Stunningly useful, and it’ll give you a sensation unlike any other mobile phones. Combine that with Blackberry emails, a brilliant internet browser, 3 megapixel camera and superb media playback, and bring to the boil, to make the Blackberry Storm into a virtually perfect touchscreen mobile phone. The HTC Touch HD may have the big screen, but without a doubt, the Blackberry Storm is the nicer of the two, and in my opinion, the one you should drop your cash on!

The World of Touch Phones – Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97

The World of Touch Phones – Nokia 5800 and Nokia N97

Never before has history seen such a wealth of touchscreen phones been seen, with every manufacturer offering at least one. Finnish giant, Nokia, though are offering two: the brilliant 5800, and the absolutely mind-blowing Nokia N97.

Nokia 5800 – exorcising the demons of the past

A lot of people seem to be under the false impression that the Nokia 5800 is the first ever touchscreen mobile phone to come from the Finnish manufacturer. It isn’t. The opposite’s true, because there’s been a few touchy-feely phones to wear the Nokia brand. Starting at the 7700, the world has seen a couple of Nokia mobile phones that work by you pressing directly on the screen. They had a relatively big (for the time) touchscreen in common, but the other feature they had in common, unfortunately, was that they were irredeemably awful. However, those unpleasant recollections have all been exorcised because of the debut of two new Nokia mobile phones, both of which have touch-sensitive displays, and both of which are much, much more alluring…

First on the roster is a whole new member of Nokia’s Xpress range of music mobile phones, the mouth-watering Nokia 5800. This phone is pretty obviously designed for music and video; you can tell by the dedicated XpressMedia touch-key that pops up a list of links to music, videos, the web, and more. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to actually play with all your media content. Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was designed as a teeny portable entertainment centre, and as music devices go, this is easily one of the prettiest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA data access and GPS, so that it’s a superb all-round mobile phone, as well as a superb media box. Oh, and it’s got a lanyard to clip on an imitation guitar pick. That’s pretty cool, that.

However, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range phone; it isn’t, nor was it ever meant to be, an absolute top-ender. That job goes to a different mobile…

Nokia N97 – can any phone beat this monster?

With the Nokia 5800 on track to deliver touch-based mobile phones to the mid-range market, that leaves a massive gap at the very top-endof the product range; well, there IS a touch-based mobile phone on its way to fill that gap: the frankly mind-blowing Nokia N97. This uses the same Symbian S60 Touch interface and packs it inside the shell of a proper, full-tilt smartphone. So it has a massive, 3.5 inch screen, a flip out QWERTY keypad, and the camera’s been upgraded to 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, as should be glaringly obvious, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it’s truly as high-spec as we’d heard from rumours, with HSDPA, sat-nav, digital compass, and built-in Flash, so that you have an internet experience like no other mobile phones! Put simply the Nokia N97 is simple incredible. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and while the 5800 aims to take over the mid-range, I reckon that the Nokia N97 will completely DOMINATE the world in 2009!

Okay, well please justify it a very little much better than simply “a massive iPod”.

That’s what I am here to do for you! The iPad offers a 9.Seven inch backlit led screen, and is solely 1.Five pounds with a thickness of 0.Five inches. The iPad provides you the capability to download something directly onto it with its bluetooth, wi-fi, and 3g at&t capabilities. All of these capabilities guarantee that the iPad user will be capable of the fastest affiliation and downloading speed out of any of Apple’s products.

Is there an app for that? The answer is yes. Yes to any state of affairs one may suppose of. With the iPad, the user has 140,000 apps or more at their fingertips. There are apps being created each second of the day. Want an app? I can assure all that there is one.

Speculators were… Well for an absence of a much better term… Speculating that the price of the iPad would be nearly 0 or even 0. Nevertheless, Apple came out with a debut worth of solely 9! Somehow, Apple really worked on their worth, because the user is paying solely 9 for an iPod and a pc!

The network offered through the iPad is at&t. Some may say how poor of a corporation at&t is, and this, or that. The truth is, at&t is doing everything in its power to confirm that the iPad user obtains the most effective wireless connection. At&t has invested two billion greenbucks into creating a much better experience for the iPad user and is coming up with to invest 900% additional at intervals the next few months. At&t goes to prevent at nothing to create the iPad perfect!

Well, what concerning the options? I think a better approach to ask this is what features does it not have? The iPad options YouTube, safari, one hundred forty,000 apps, photos, iTunes, iPod, app store, iBooks, maps, calendar, and contacts to simply name a few. Any Apple owner knows that Apple has had all of these things since the iPod touch. Well, not solely does it have of these features, however it’s the updated versions of all of them.

The iPad features a new accelerometer that has been upgraded from the previous iPhone accelerometer. The iPad’s accelerometer uses each x and y axes to ensure a true 3d feel to it. This new upgrade is sensible for the gamers out there.

Apple’s new iPad has so many features going for it. The new technology it offers is actually endless. One might not fail getting this new iPad. The targeted audience? The human race.
