Online Advertising: Real Time Results

Online Advertising: Real Time Results

One of the benefits of online advertising is that you are able to see results in real time of whether or not your marketing efforts are paying off. Hits to your website are instant. If you get a sale, then you know that you are on to something. You are also able to tweak an advertising campaign if it’s not giving you any results. The internet is an ideal place to get your message across to millions, and positive results can be measured in several ways. Even if you didn’t get an immediate sale with your online advertising method, that doesn’t mean that all is lost.

Sometimes a person will enter your website and decide not to buy your product right away. This happens many times. They may look over your product and decide it’s not for them. This is not the end of the battle, because online advertising is also about exposure and branding. There are studies which indicate that a person has to be exposed to an advertisement more than one time before they seriously consider purchasing the product. Sometimes visitors will come back to your site at a later time after seeing your advertisement again.

There are times when money is the issue for customers.  It’s not necessarily that they are unwilling to buy, it’s just that currently they are unable to afford the purchase. If someone is interested enough in your product, they will come back later when their financial situation improves. Branding is very important in this instance because some potential customers will be more receptive to buying a product that they have seen before. Nobody wants to make a purchase decision without at least being somewhat familiar with your products. Online advertising also has some extra free benefits as well, and it’s the reason why businesses are successful.

One of the benefits of advertising online is the opportunity for free branding. You’ll get your advertisement seen without having to pay for it. Two examples of that occurs in search engine marketing and banner advertising. If you choose to advertise on search engines, you’ll only have to pay when someone clicks on your ad. The same is true for banner advertising in many cases.  You’ll be able to display banners or search engine ads that contain your product, logo, or company slogan, and will only be required to pay for it if someone clicks on your advertisement. Not only will your product be exposed to millions of people, but you will increase product awareness for your advertising efforts.

The invention of the internet has made it easier for businesses to reach a captive audience. International customers are even easier to obtain and it doesn’t require any extra expense to advertise to them. Many times businesses will know when to continue with an advertising campaign, and conversion rates determine that decision. The results might not always be in real time, but online advertising is very effective. If you want a successful online business, you’ll have to utilize the power of the internet.

How to Use Critical Focus Time in Web marketing and Make More Money

How to Use Critical Focus Time in Web marketing and Make More Money

In my internet marketing coaching article “The Difference Between  Earning Money  and Loosing Riches In Web marketing is CFT” I  talked about what CFT is, in relation to an on line business. This additional  piece explains how to apply the principles of CFT and get the most from it.

A simple error to make when you add Critical Focus Time to your web marketing strategy is to think that a commitment to being focussed is sufficient to make it so. It is easy to start out really earnest and strong-minded, but not so straightforward to sustain your enthusiasm. Roughly six days into your new way of  working you’re liable to find out that creating a new habit is not as simple as just deciding to do so.  Critical focus time, like any new ability or habit, involves consistent effort.

So, do not anticipate that you will get the Critical focus time correct the initial time you give it a go. Chances are you’ll need to practise until it turns into second nature and part of your success mindset. At the same time as you’re learning, accept that you will make blunders and let that be OK. When you appreciate this in the context of learning another skill you will be better motivated to go on practising until such time as you have cracked it and less disappointed if you’ve set backs.

These three suggestions will make your CFT bring higher returns:

1. Take away All Distractions

Turn off your telephone, close your office door, and ask your family/colleagues not to interrupt you for the prearranged time.  Concentrate exclusively on the work you have decided upon and don’t be tempted to do anything else.

2. Use A Timer

Start off with twenty minute blocks if you are new to this, building up to whatever your optimum work block duration is. You will have to experiment and learn what works best for you. Nevertheless, never go past 3 quarters of an hour as experiments have revealed that this is the maximum period of time we can focus for effectively.

3. Undertake Recurring Breaks In Between Work blocks

Take rests, up to a maximum of 15 minutes for a three quarter of an hour chunk of work. Take that time to get up from your desk and move away from the computer. Do something that needs you to move your body.

So, now that only thing that is outstanding is for you to make a promise as to how many chunks you’ll get done daily. Start small and work your way up and, bear in mind, practice, practice, practice.

Time Inc. Unveils Tablet Magazine Concept

Time Inc. Unveils Tablet Magazine Concept

The popularity of the Internet has been hurting the print products, including magazines.  Their websites, no matter how popular, can only generate a fraction of ad revenue compared to how much publication companies earn on print.  Time Inc, publisher of various magazines including Time, People, and InStyle, come up with a series of digital magazines that will be formally unveiled soon.  People of TechCruch got a sneak peek of Time Inc’s tablet magazine based on Sports Illustrated.

The concept was the brainchild of David Link at the Wonderfactory, with all the magic developed using Adobe AIR.

The digital magazine was shown on a HP touchscreen tablet PC.  However, the product can also be viewed through iPhone or other tablet computers when that feature becomes available.  The tablet reveals the magazine’s cover on full screen and then users simply tap the screen to browse through pages, which can actually be rearranged so they can read however they want it.

The magazine also contains interactive features like letting the users share stories through e-mail or social networking sites, favorite a story, read related articles, and even watch live scores.  Check the demo here.

Readers wonder how this digital magazine would differ from its website version?  For one, the content is richer.  It also provides the feeling of reading the actual magazine, although presented more dynamically.  However, unlike the website, subscribing to digital magazine will require fees, but hey, we all have to earn from something, right?

SEO Automation Saves Time

One of the biggest problems with of having multiple sites is that it’s such a pain trying to monitor their search engine rankings.

It’s not enough just to pop into google and see where your site ranks for one or two keywords.

No, if you’re trying to earn a living online, doesn’t matter if you are a professional SEO or an someone using a network of blogs to earn your money online, there just isn’t an easy way to monitor all your sites at once.

I have used quite a few different tools out there to find out my rankings per keyword and all sorts of other things.

Now I have found a solution to end my headache, and it’s called MasterSiteManager.com

So what is the Master Site Manager?

Master Site Manager is a web-based SEO monitoring software and domain management tool that lets webmasters manage the SEO tracking and statistics for their entire network of web properties – all from a single control panel.

Even if you only operate and manage one web site, Master Site Manager will save you an amazing amount of time each week by tracking and monitoring all of your key SEO statistics and keyword rankings for you automatically.

If you are an Internet marketer, Web designer, Web developer or Professional SEO and manage multiple web sites, blogs or social media pages, MasterSiteManager will literally save you hours each and every month.

Here’s how MasterSiteManager works:

MasterSiteManager takes all of your domain, web property and keyword information and monitors and compiles statistical reports for you automatically. It can even track your competitors search engine stats too!

Using a proprietary algorithm, the MasterSiteManager SEO monitoring software consolidates all of the tools that professional SEO companies use every day to track and compile reports for their clients – thereby making it super simple for you to see “at a glance” exactly how your web properties are doing in the search engines – and why.

What does MasterSiteManager track?

MasterSiteManager tracks total Back Links, total Pages Indexed, Page rank, Alexa rank, Keywords, Keyword Phrases, IP addresses, Web Site Uptime, you Web Hosts, Domain Registrars, Social Media Pages and Properties, Articles, and even your Competitors Rankings.

What makes this better then desktop based SEO ranking software?

That’s easy. MasterSiteManager offers webmasters and entrepreneurs true flexibility and freedom for because you aren’t tied down to your desktop or laptop anymore.

You can monitor your SEO stats from any computer, cell phone or even your iPad!

They’re also a LOT faster then desktop software and you can get the stats for ALL your sites at once, instead of having to do just one web site or web property one at a time.

And best of all there is NO risk of having your IP address banned. And as an added time saver, MasterSiteManager, will track all your domain, hosting, accounts and site up time too.

The Truth about SEO & Keyord Optimization:

When it comes to optimizing your keywords, most reputable professional SEO companies will tell you that you can’t really do quality “SEO” on more than 25 keywords at a time.

In fact, if you’re doing a really thorough job you don’t want to concentrate on more than 10 keywords at once.

But for those that one to go big, they offer several different SEO monitoring packages that let you monitor, track and manage anywhere from 10-250 URLs at once.

Master Site Manager updates your sites stats automatically once every seven days. This is because, typically sold changes in rankings often take a week or more,

However, you can log into your account at any time and schedule an immediate stats update.

Additionally, at any time during the week should your stats change and your rankings go up or down, the system will send you an immediate e-mail notifying you that there has been a change in your rankings.

Plus, we monitor web site up time as well. If your site ever goes off line, they’ll even send you an email notification too.

Some companies charge for this type of monitoring – per URL, but they offer it as part of their standard feature set.

This SEO monitoring software has really saved me hours this month alone. If you’re doing seo for your own sites or for clients, Master Site Manager.com is a huge time saver!

Use A Website Marketing Company To Save Your Business Time And Money

Use A Website Marketing Company To Save Your Business Time And Money

If your company has a presence on the Internet, it is essential that you hire a website marketing company. It is true that marketing your business on the Internet is not as complex as rocket science and you could try to do it yourself. But the fact is, if you are trying to do it yourself, you must learn the intricacies and have to ensure that there are no mistakes. Working through “trial and errors” can turn out to be very costly. You can end up spending a lot of time and money and, of course, this is not desirable. However more importantly, you could have spent this time on doing something you do best – your business. So turn to a website marketing company or an Internet marketing company and let the experts do their work, as you concentrate on the essential activities of your business to make it grow. Hire Experts To Beat The Competition Although there are tremendous advantages of marketing your business on the Internet, yet the level of competition is quite high. A lot of other websites are trying to market them as well so that they are able to reach their customers. Just type your most popular keyword in Google and you can find the number of web pages that are relevant to your keyword. All of these are potentially your competitors. But the problem is, only 10 websites can achieve page 1 rankings, and the fact is, a huge majority of people do not go beyond the first page, and almost no one goes beyond the first 3 pages. So your website must come up in the first 3 pages, or better still, in the first page itself. You need a website marketing company who can take you up there. Of course, the company you hire will have experts working there who will know exactly what is to be done so that your website can beat the competition and achieve these ranks. But remember, it is highly possible that many other businesses would also hire experts. This is why it is essential that you hire a good website marketing company with proven track record. Do also remember that the competition in website marketing is actually becoming stiffer every single day as more and more websites are being launched and more businesses are also realizing the importance of web traffic and the need to market the business. Thus, the fact is, only an expert can do a decent job for you. A company that has the knowledge and knows what is to be done to help your business achieve the desired results. What Can A Good Company Do For You? A good website marketing company will begin by carrying out an analysis of your website and your competition. This allows them to settle on what needs to be done for you. Sometimes the company will just do SEO or search engine optimisation so that your websites comes up in the search results pages at the search engines for keyword searches. Sometimes, the company will go in for SEM or search engine marketing, wherein a lot of different things will be done to enhance your web presence so that you can receive web traffic from various sources.

Would Apple’s iPad take time to hit Indian market?

Would Apple’s iPad take time to hit Indian market?

After being launched worldwide on 3rd April 2010, iPad already noticed a huge number of customers brave out to buy Apple’s new device i.e. iPad. When the world of technology is abuzz with the new ‘iProduct’, can India be far behind? It is expected that Apple’s iPad would create a new user segment in the market of India soon. But when will it come to India?
Many tablets have already debuted in the market and we can easily say it is the time for tablet revolution. The concept of tablet PC, so far, is not very popular among Indian consumers, so iPad needs to go through this mass market hassles.
Experts say that this tablet category device would create a niche market for itself and Indian users are waiting for that product, which would emerge as a lifestyle product, and obviously not a mass product in India.
Right after the launch of iPad, doubts and expectations have arisen from various corners. Would iPad outsell the iPhone? Will other tablets dethrone iPad? Even after all these doubts, market analysts say it seems like Indians are waiting for the iPad. But Apple has hardly responded to the questions on the availability of iPad in India.
The iPad helps the users to browse the web, go for emailing, share photos, watch videos, listen to music, play games, read e-books and much more. But, the downside of iPad is, beside these intelligent features, it cannot multitask and doesn’t have an external keyboard, disk drive or a USB drive. So, according to market experts it can be a niche product rather than for the masses. It would create a new class who are always crazy for lifestyle products, and an Apple fan!
Some other experts doubt that the price sensitive nature of Indian consumer market may deter iPad from being a hit in Indian market. They are also concerned that iPad may remain limited only to the upper middle class segment in India. But at the same time it is true that iPad would face a challenge for several other branded laptops and tablet devices, which offer same features at the same range of price. So, Indian consumers may think twice before they invest in an iPad. Although, many people hope that the secret of this device’s success in India may lie in iPad applications and features that may take away the need of carrying hefty laptop.
Of course, the naysayers may remark that iPad is not appropriate for Indian market, but the reality shows that there is a curiosity, an interest and intent. Crazy users may hope that Apple would plan for thousands of utility iPad applications to make it more popular. But how much of craze can be converted to sales – we would like to leave that to Apple.
Meanwhile most of the iPhone and iPad Application development companies in India have already created various iPad applications. For the crazy users, e-Book iPad application would be interesting through which Users can easily access the newspapers, magazines through iPad.

Steve Jobs and Flash; Time to Revolutionize Another Industry?

Steve Jobs and Flash; Time to Revolutionize Another Industry?

As a long time fan of Apple and sometimes feeling like the most stupid human on earth for not investing in the stock when Jobs came back on as CEO in 1997, I was surprised to see Mr. Jobs post the blog below on Apple.com. Now… as a Web design firm and creative agency, obviously we use Adobe Flash. It has been a tremendous platform for us to build engaging sites with interaction and eye-catching movement.

Now, whether you agree with Steve or not, it’s tough to argue with a guy who single-handed changed three industries (Music, Movies, and Phone). When he stated that Apple isn’t a computer company…it is a “lifestyle” company, he wasn’t kidding. Apple products have changed the way we interact and communicate. As well, he has done guys like us a MAJOR solid by making graphic design important. Now even the average plumber realizes great design serves a purpose. Okay…before I go off on about 50 tangents here, please check out what was written by Steve Jobs. My guess is we should start getting into HTML 5 pretty quick!
________

Apple has a long relationship with Adobe. In fact, we met Adobe’s founders when they were in their proverbial garage. Apple was their first big customer, adopting their Postscript language for our new Laserwriter printer. Apple invested in Adobe and owned around 20% of the company for many years. The two companies worked closely together to pioneer desktop publishing and there were many good times. Since that golden era, the companies have grown apart. Apple went through its near death experience, and Adobe was drawn to the corporate market with their Acrobat products. Today the two companies still work together to serve their joint creative customers – Mac users buy around half of Adobe’s Creative Suite products – but beyond that there are few joint interests.

I wanted to jot down some of our thoughts on Adobe’s Flash products so that customers and critics may better understand why we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. Adobe has characterized our decision as being primarily business driven – they say we want to protect our App Store – but in reality it is based on technology issues. Adobe claims that we are a closed system, and that Flash is open, but in fact the opposite is true. Let me explain.

First, there’s “Open”.

Adobe’s Flash products are 100% proprietary. They are only available from Adobe, and Adobe has sole authority as to their future enhancement, pricing, etc. While Adobe’s Flash products are widely available, this does not mean they are open, since they are controlled entirely by Adobe and available only from Adobe. By almost any definition, Flash is a closed system.

Apple has many proprietary products too. Though the operating system for the iPhone, iPod and iPad is proprietary, we strongly believe that all standards pertaining to the web should be open. Rather than use Flash, Apple has adopted HTML5, CSS and JavaScript – all open standards. Apple’s mobile devices all ship with high performance, low power implementations of these open standards. HTML5, the new web standard that has been adopted by Apple, Google and many others, lets web developers create advanced graphics, typography, animations and transitions without relying on third party browser plug-ins (like Flash). HTML5 is completely open and controlled by a standards committee, of which Apple is a member.

Apple even creates open standards for the web. For example, Apple began with a small open source project and created WebKit, a complete open-source HTML5 rendering engine that is the heart of the Safari web browser used in all our products. WebKit has been widely adopted. Google uses it for Android’s browser, Palm uses it, Nokia uses it, and RIM (Blackberry) has announced they will use it too. Almost every smartphone web browser other than Microsoft’s uses WebKit. By making its WebKit technology open, Apple has set the standard for mobile web browsers.

Second, there’s the “full web”.

Adobe has repeatedly said that Apple mobile devices cannot access “the full web” because 75% of video on the web is in Flash. What they don’t say is that almost all this video is also available in a more modern format, H.264, and viewable on iPhones, iPods and iPads. YouTube, with an estimated 40% of the web’s video, shines in an app bundled on all Apple mobile devices, with the iPad offering perhaps the best YouTube discovery and viewing experience ever. Add to this video from Vimeo, Netflix, Facebook, ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, ESPN, NPR, Time, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Illustrated, People, National Geographic, and many, many others. iPhone, iPod and iPad users aren’t missing much video.

Another Adobe claim is that Apple devices cannot play Flash games. This is true. Fortunately, there are over 50,000 games and entertainment titles on the App Store, and many of them are free. There are more games and entertainment titles available for iPhone, iPod and iPad than for any other platform in the world.

Third, there’s reliability, security and performance.

Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. We have been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don’t want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash.

In addition, Flash has not performed well on mobile devices. We have routinely asked Adobe to show us Flash performing well on a mobile device, any mobile device, for a few years now. We have never seen it. Adobe publicly said that Flash would ship on a smartphone in early 2009, then the second half of 2009, then the first half of 2010, and now they say the second half of 2010. We think it will eventually ship, but we’re glad we didn’t hold our breath. Who knows how it will perform?

Fourth, there’s battery life.

To achieve long battery life when playing video, mobile devices must decode the video in hardware; decoding it in software uses too much power. Many of the chips used in modern mobile devices contain a decoder called H.264 – an industry standard that is used in every Blu-ray DVD player and has been adopted by Apple, Google (YouTube), Vimeo, Netflix and many other companies.

Although Flash has recently added support for H.264, the video on almost all Flash websites currently requires an older generation decoder that is not implemented in mobile chips and must be run in software. The difference is striking: on an iPhone, for example, H.264 videos play for up to 10 hours, while videos decoded in software play for less than 5 hours before the battery is fully drained.

When websites re-encode their videos using H.264, they can offer them without using Flash at all. They play perfectly in browsers like Apple’s Safari and Google’s Chrome without any plugins whatsoever, and look great on iPhones, iPods and iPads.

Fifth, there’s Touch.

Flash was designed for PCs using mice, not for touch screens using fingers. For example, many Flash websites rely on “rollovers”, which pop up menus or other elements when the mouse arrow hovers over a specific spot. Apple’s revolutionary multi-touch interface doesn’t use a mouse, and there is no concept of a rollover. Most Flash websites will need to be rewritten to support touch-based devices. If developers need to rewrite their Flash websites, why not use modern technologies like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript?

Even if iPhones, iPods and iPads ran Flash, it would not solve the problem that most Flash websites need to be rewritten to support touch-based devices.

Sixth, the most important reason.

Besides the fact that Flash is closed and proprietary, has major technical drawbacks, and doesn’t support touch based devices, there is an even more important reason we do not allow Flash on iPhones, iPods and iPads. We have discussed the downsides of using Flash to play video and interactive content from websites, but Adobe also wants developers to adopt Flash to create apps that run on our mobile devices.

We know from painful experience that letting a third party layer of software come between the platform and the developer ultimately results in sub-standard apps and hinders the enhancement and progress of the platform. If developers grow dependent on third party development libraries and tools, they can only take advantage of platform enhancements if and when the third party chooses to adopt the new features. We cannot be at the mercy of a third party deciding if and when they will make our enhancements available to our developers.

This becomes even worse if the third party is supplying a cross platform development tool. The third party may not adopt enhancements from one platform unless they are available on all of their supported platforms. Hence developers only have access to the lowest common denominator set of features. Again, we cannot accept an outcome where developers are blocked from using our innovations and enhancements because they are not available on our competitor’s platforms.

Flash is a cross platform development tool. It is not Adobe’s goal to help developers write the best iPhone, iPod and iPad apps. It is their goal to help developers write cross platform apps. And Adobe has been painfully slow to adopt enhancements to Apple’s platforms. For example, although Mac OS X has been shipping for almost 10 years now, Adobe just adopted it fully (Cocoa) two weeks ago when they shipped CS5. Adobe was the last major third party developer to fully adopt Mac OS X.

Our motivation is simple – we want to provide the most advanced and innovative platform to our developers, and we want them to stand directly on the shoulders of this platform and create the best apps the world has ever seen. We want to continually enhance the platform so developers can create even more amazing, powerful, fun and useful applications. Everyone wins – we sell more devices because we have the best apps, developers reach a wider and wider audience and customer base, and users are continually delighted by the best and broadest selection of apps on any platform.

Conclusions.

Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short.

The avalanche of media outlets offering their content for Apple’s mobile devices demonstrates that Flash is no longer necessary to watch video or consume any kind of web content. And the 200,000 apps on Apple’s App Store proves that Flash isn’t necessary for tens of thousands of developers to create graphically rich applications, including games.

New open standards created in the mobile era, such as HTML5, will win on mobile devices (and PCs too). Perhaps Adobe should focus more on creating great HTML5 tools for the future, and less on criticizing Apple for leaving the past behind.
