Traditional notebook “multicore” price cut war has already begun to Apple hp Pavilion dv4 battery iPad tablet PCs are also represented worldwide, conquering a city. Sun, it was the moment they appear online this is extremely low profile, its small and portable, low-cost, mobile Internet edge is no longer compelling. Survival under puzzled how to break through the Internet to become the company placed in front of a PC problem. Perhaps, completed its historic mission of the Internet do not need to break out of this they are fundamentally, as long as the market, a “portable and performance” can have both a new type of product.
Traditional gap between notebooks and netbooks
In 2007, ASUS introduced the first generation of Internet products, in fact, not “the Internet of the” concept, Intel’s Atom processor has yet to launch, even in the future the same as the Internet this crazy Acer, HP and other vendors have also expressed a disdain for such products. But no one thought that the Intel Atom processor with the advent of the Internet in 2008 to create this brilliant, many PC makers have been offering the appropriate products, and even “cottage” business has been carried out of the Bank on the Internet. After 2009, the development of the third generation of the Internet is the squandering of the products have been gradually want to charming eyes. 2010, the Internet began to experience the traditional high-performance notebook and Tablet PC price cuts double pincer attack.
Undeniably, the Internet this after three years of development has entered a mature stage, according to a foreign authority to a survey, Internet of the 2010 shipments will reach 34.5 million units by 2014, when it will reach 58.3 million units . However, the traditional notebook market is at saturation remained stable demand rose.
From the Internet into the market this traditional first day it had a gap between notebook. The biggest advantage of the traditional notebook is configured high-end, to achieve office, entertainment, video and other multi-purpose applications, but usually more massive body. The biggest advantage of the Internet is the body of the light, most of the weight of product is only about 1.5kg, portable, ease of use very strong, and affordable, but because of the Internet’s main application of this emphasis on the Internet, so the basic configuration is relatively low This higher demand for the formation of a barrier to users who often access the hesitation between the traditional notebook.
Today, this gap is an urgent need for a new product to fill the traditional notebook and the survival of the Internet in this “contradiction” also need to coordinate it.
Where to go online this concern
ASUS launched the first online this time the controversial, but after the market practice and the development of the Internet this portable, compact, easy to use, online and convenient will soon be recognized by people, then the market is hot confirms netbook the birth is successful. Since then, many of the industry began to worry about, “whether the Internet will replace the traditional notebook in the future.” With the traditional high-performance notebook price cuts in succession, in particular the emergence of tablet PCs, this fear has turned into “the Internet this will die.”
Some analysts believe that the Internet the past few years to temper, hp Pavilion dv4030CA battery the facts show the value of its existence and historic mission. Internet market segments of the derived demand of the notebook line the most convenient, easy to use applications such as experience. In fact, the Internet this and the traditional notebook, tablet PCs can each his own, there are different “specializing.” However, a long time, the Internet between this and the notebook is a pair of technical contradiction, the most obvious is the Internet version of this portable notebook performance with the advantages of both the lack of effective “have both.” Today there are Tablet PC war, the Internet this unprecedented market pressure.
In the PC market for many years of development, is not difficult to conclude a law, product development was always diverse, that is, have both “tasty fish” but also a “bear’s paw of the game” can be able to meet the public taste, to mainstream applications. In 2009, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer once for Internet access in this way put forward their own views, he believes, “ultra-thin computer will solve this dilemma the Internet.” Today, Ballmer’s prediction seems a step by step into reality, because such a range of traditional laptops and Internet access between this new product – ultra-portable notebooks have been born.
Consumer demand for ultra-portable notebook should be born
The emergence of new products is not a vacuum, but by the real market demand, especially in the highly competitive notebook market. The growing abundance of life in the network today, mobile Internet application requirements and sharp sense of the experience anytime, anywhere soared, users select the mobile Internet, office, entertainment and so the carrier is also more rational, “consistent with their actual needs is the best Select “as the basic principles of people buy notebooks.
The industry believes that the level of demand from the public, people tend to want to have a lightweight, low-cost, readily access and performance configuration perfect laptop, notebook and comprehensive requirements on clear expectations; while demand from the segment level analysis, each type of crowd on the requirements of PC notebook products are not the same. Such as game players, online duel with other people anytime, anywhere, you need to configure the high, high-definition, portable laptop, and journalists, employees are more reflected in the text editor on.
How to find a variety of needs “have both” the meeting point is the computer maker battles “small lakes” key. Access the “originator” ultra-portable notebook ASUS launched EeePC1201N, other PC giants to be outdone, HP EliteBook 2540p, Lenovo Thinkpad X100e, Acer Aspire 2420-200512Ci products have Commander market. Analysts believe that the concept of ultra-portable notebook more in line with the needs of the majority, is precisely the advantage of such a comprehensive Internet put up with the traditional notebook of this “bridge.”
Through market analysis, easy to see that the emergence of ultra-portable hp Pavilion dv5-1100 battery notebook is the notebook market product line extension and supplement, there will be ample room for development, and access the traditional notebooks, tablet PCs to each other. Whether consumers choose the traditional notebook, netbook, tablet PCs, or ultra-portable notebook, entirely dependent on their actual needs.
News, Sun has been developing low-power x86-based server chips, for cloud computing environments and ultra-large-scale data centers. Unfortunately, after the Oracle acquisition of Sun gave up the project.
A great demand for low-power server chips. AMD recently introduced a variety of low-cost, low-power quad-core and six-core Opteron server chip, for cloud computing and large scale data centers. Intel also introduced a variety of similar chips.
Currently, Intel and AMD in the low-cost, low power x86 chips no competition. Another one is a VIA x86 chips, but its market share is almost negligible. Although both introduced low-cost, low power x86 server chips, but these chips for the cloud computing environment, may not be the most effective solution.
“New York Times” news, Sun has been developing x86-compatible low-power server chip, cloud computing environment for the server. View of the Sun is not new to the field of remote computing, so it needs a clear understanding of the function of these chips.
Sun UltraSPARC architecture has been in production chips. As the Sun has a large number of patents, so it may negotiate licensing agreement with Intel to obtain the right to produce x86 chips. However, after the acquisition by Oracle, not just x86 chips, Sun’s chip business hp Pavilion dv6-1124ca battery are all likely to be abandoned.

The Portable Kindle eBook Reader
The Portable Kindle eBook Reader
To be sure, the <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:pageTracker._trackPageview(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” href=”http://www.kindle-2.org/”>Kindle eBook Reader</a> leaves little doubt by now that a reading revolution is in the making. It has evidently become a current vogue in the white-collared circles. Everyone who has any reason at all to carry one will. For certain groups even, it’s an attire to impress or status to flaunt. Whether it’s for the pomp or purpose, or both, this gadget is hot.
From one Kindle review to another, the device is generally described as a state-of-the-art mobile eBook reader which is on live connection with Amazon online bookstores and other amenities all across the US. Kindles form the major junction for all of Amazon e-reading business. The remarkable part is that they still retain the natural feel and display of the conventional print on paper.
The original Kindle wasn’t much in appearance to many and if you didn’t like the jarring look, well, Amazon listened. Check out the sleek and trim Kindle 2, complete with superb ergonomics this time around for good measure. Now, there’s really some resemblance to what people like to refer it as – the iPod of books. Now, let not the good looks overshadow its functional prowess.
If the Kindle looks great and grab the limelight, that’s a bonus, not the original idea. But seriously, it’s supposed to just disappear into the reading. Like a good paper-filled book, it’s the proverbial judging the content and not the cover but what the heck! It’s that lucky star again for Amazon. Having that said, the technology packed into the Kindle is surely worth a mention.
The main distinction of the Kindle Electronic Book Reader from its peers, or rivals if you may, lies in its Whispernet – a wireless service by which contents are transacted and also where Whispersync operates for smart cross-device synchronization. The connectivity is through 3G network and is included when you buy Buy Kindle 2 so there’s no bill on your part and unlike WiFi, you never have to hunt for a hotspot.
Most Kindle review sites will not fail to mention 2 things: the price and the size of the library. At a cost of the better part of $ 400, it could be steep for some but if you’re into reading, the 275,000 books available will beckon at a discounted price. Whether it’s worth the money or not is an individual thing and if Amazon has its way, any book that’s ever printed will have an e-version for the Kindle in future. That’s a lot of books!

Laptops – the Sheer Convenience of Portable Computing
Laptops – the Sheer Convenience of Portable Computing
Computers manipulate electronic data according to a set of instructions called programs. It is this feature of computers that distinguishes them from calculators and makes them highly versatile. A computer program can include instructions that may vary from a few scores to a billion or even more. It may take years for a team of computer programmers to develop a program for an internet browser. The program may still contain some errors called bugs. Some of the earliest models of computers were as large as a room. Modern computers use integrated circuits (ICs) to perform their complex functions. These circuits have helped in developing compact and light weight variants of computers. Some modern day simple computers are small enough to be fitted into a wrist watch.
The one feature that distinguishes a computer from other machines is their ability to be programmed. It simply means that they can store a set of instructions in their memory and execute them later as per the user’s requirements. A computer’s central processing unit (CPU) directs its various components and establishes coordination in them. Technological advances have made it possible to develop portable computers. These portable computers are called laptops or notebook computers. These devices generally do not weigh more than 18 pounds or 8 kilograms. They usually sport a liquid crystal display (LCD) and a full QWERTY keyboard. Many variants of portable computers like personal digital assistants (PDAs) and internet tablets are also available in the markets.
The first true portable computer, titled GRiD Compass 1101 was developed by Bill Moggridge in 1980. Apple released Macintosh Portable in 1989. It was the company’s first computer which was powered by a battery. In 1994, IBM released its PowerPC notebook that ran on a UNIX based AIX operating system. Most present day portable computers feature a PC card, and a 30 cm active matrix display with a resolution of not less than 1024 x 768 pixels. The devices usually feature an integrated video and sound chip. Newest models of notebook computers use lithium polymer batteries which are more powerful than earlier lithium ion or nickel metal hydride batteries.
Leading manufacturers of computers like Sony, Toshiba and Acer have released several high performance laptops in the markets. VAIO is among the most successful models of Sony laptops. The word VAIO is an acronym for Video Audio Integrated Operation. The device sports Sony’s proprietary XBRITE display that provides about 1.5 times better brightness than traditional LCD displays. The device comes loaded with Windows Vista operating system. The AR series of the device was first to feature a Blu-ray disc burner. The device’s SZ series feature an Intel GMA 950 graphics chip that shows high resolution graphics.
Toshiba’s many models of notebook computers have registered good sales. Qosmio, Tecra and Portege are among the best selling models of Toshiba laptops. The Portege M400-1115E uses an Intel Core Duo T2400 processor. The device is equipped with 80 GB of hard disk drive and weighs 2.1 kg. It runs on a Windows XP Tablet Edition operating system. It sports a 12.1″ XGA display. The device has support for Bluetooth and WiFi connectivities and is available in titanium silver colour.
Acer’s Aspire series of notebooks have got wide acceptance among the users. The notebook is counted among the best selling Acer laptops. The device features a ‘Pebble’ design and is intended for use by general users. Aspire 4710 comes equipped with Gigabit LAN, 160 GB hard disk drive and 1 GB RAM. It operates on a LINUX platform. Manufacturers like Hewlett-Packard, Dell, Compaq and Lenovo have also rolled out some highly successful models of notebooks into the markets. Laptops have given new dimensions to computing. The devices have become a must have for many senior executives and professionals.
The Battle Goes on – Which One is the Most Favourable Gadget for your Portable Needs – Ipod, Iphone, Ipod Touch or the Psp?
The Battle Goes on – Which One is the Most Favourable Gadget for your Portable Needs – Ipod, Iphone, Ipod Touch or the Psp?
The battle goes on â which one is the most favourable gadget for your portable needs?
First you have to ask yourself as lots of potential buyers of either of the three below products, IPOD, IPOD TOUCH, IPOD Phone or the PSP. We do not talk about the iBook nor do we talk about Nintendos games console in this article, but they could be considered of course. Ibook is very costly but it enable you to use internet and listen to itunes with the same gadget.
What product fit your needs and the potential usage you are going to put it through?
If you look at some main parameters to judge the products more or less objective based on the user profile, you could come closer to the truth.
Look at functionalities like Gaming, Internet, Photo, Video, Music and Storage capacity. You also have to look at the user interface and its design like screen and functionality buttons.
We will try to compile these criteriaâs more or less objective so you can evaluate the PSP vs the Ipod/phone products.
Gaming
Only PSP provides serious gaming console capacity and functionality. If you want gaming console capability your choice is clear, you need the Sony PSP and nothing else. There is no other choice.
Internet
Only PSP, Ipod Phone and Touch (latest software release January 2008) provides internet browsing and email capabilities. However the PSP screen is the largest of them all (for userability of web pages). PSP has some issues with some web pages which has to be taken into consideration. Apple products however have not been long enough in market to really test these features yet.
Photo
You get Photo album capabilities in all products more or less, however the PSP needs some upgrade by 3rd party software. What differentiates the products is memory capacity to hold a certain amount of pictures, but also the way you can interface with your photos. Looking at pictures, select, zoom in and out is better in the Ipod touch or the Iphone, utilizing the touch screen and its capabilities.
In all honesty the PSP looks better – the iphone seems to be suffering from a severe white balance problem. Maybe some people prefer that, but as the iphone costs four times as much as the PSP then you have to judge what is more important to meet your requirements. Obviously the PSP has the size advantage but the iPhone is brighter.
Video/Film
All products can hold videos at their internal formats, and several 3rd party software makes it possible to transfer this media between various medias such as PC, Ipod, PSP, cell phones etc. Again the user interface is the main differentiator here, as the touch screen makes it possible to browse the various movies in a more fancy and maybe interactive way than in the PSP. However this is a matter of user preference and will be highly subjective to users needs and how he/she wants to interact with the gadget. Higher resolution on the PSP versus its competitors is also a point to mention here. So if you want the high resolution and slightly better screen definition, then PSP is definitively your choice.
Music/Audio
You can send your files over and use PSP as you would use an iPod Video, although Apple product has an advantage when it comes to storage. You’ll need to get up to 8Gb MemStick DUO on the PSP to get decent memory, but still much lower than IPOD with its 60Gb capacity. If you want a straight out of the box itunes player, then select the Ipod/touch/phone range, otherwise it will just be a subjective choice as there are lots of 3rd party customization to make the PSP to offer Itunes capability, conversion of audio files etc.
Storage Capacity
You can get up to 8Gb MemStick DUO for the PSP. IPOD leads here with its 60Gb capacity. Utilizing high memory capacity for the PSP will run at a cost as well, which needs to be addressed if compared for this purpose. However the Ipod Touch or Iphone comes with maximum of 8Gb memory and can not be upgraded without consequences for warranty etc. Ipod is superior when it comes to capacity, so if you need to store tens of Gb of music, or video, then your choice is the Ipod machine. If you tend to change content often and want to transfer often, then it is either the PSP or the Iphone/ Ipod Touch choices left. However the Apple product have a slight advantage as their user interface for handling the files are easier.
User interface/Design
Several comparisons of the IPOD screen vs PSP makes PSP the clear choice. When you compare IPOD Touch or IPHONE with PSP there is still a slight advantage to PSP since the screen is larger and it seems to have better color definition and looks crispier in view.
PSP is larger as a console vs either IPOD or Iphone or Ipod Touch, so it is maybe less practical to put in your pocket. However since we talk about different usage of these gadgets, you need to see if this really is a differentiator at all.
The later products from Apple with the touch screen is of course an new technology brought to the table, however you have to judge whether you need it for the purpose you need.
It comes down to touch and feel and what you focus on most. If you focus on screen quality, the Sony PSP is the clear choice. If you focus on the user interface and modern technology, then the Apple series touch or Phone is the selection for you.
I would personally go for the PSP, since my use is internet, movie and games. Since we really talk about a game console here, it gives power to all my favourite games as well as the chance to download some fancy graphics to use as my wall papers, or to manipulate some graphics on my PC or Mac and transfer to my PSP, it makes the choice clear to me. I can read most of my favourites on internet as well as reading my emails pretty effective despite no mouse or keyboard on the PSP, but here it is up to you to select what interface you want or are used to.
However, if you are a music and photo lover, I would maybe lean towards the Ipod touch or Iphone. If you already have an iPod that works good and hold enough music to keep you happy, then go with a new PSP.
So it all depends on what you want the gadget for. If you want to listen to music, get an iPod, if you want to play games, get a PSP.
So it comes down to the question Console or a Phone or a media player?
Iphone is a phone and the PSP is a console, Ipod Touch is a media player simple and easy.
The iPhone is a very pretty and medium to high priced multi-functional handheld device that can be used as a phone. The PSP is a very pretty and low cost multi-functional handheld device that can be used to play games, or fed with some 3rd party software used for a whole lot of things. Sony would prefer you not think of PSP as a handheld, more like a multi-media portable. Several handhelds that acts similar to the iPhone with the touch interface (Treo for instance).
You have to lean towards the price as well as your user profile, there is a large price difference to consider here. But if you want to boost your PSP, the price difference gets less, and can become minimal, especially when you talk about the Ipod Touch from Apple.
The old argument for people saying the PSP was the right choice for you, was that it can play music, watch videos, check email, play games and all in one device. This argument could be used for the Iphone as well, since you have the phone capability into it.
32Gb memory stick is soon to be released, so the PSP will be more costly than the iphone, if not the same price when using this memory. However it will have more than Apple products and more flexibility as you can buy as many memory sticks you want and have one for photos, one for audio and another one for games or email information etc.
In the end, the choice is yours but you need to do the homework first, decide what you need the most in your new gadget and what flexibility you want.
People want the simplest, easist way to get enjoyment. Apple, when designing anything (OS, iPod, Hardware, and now the iPhone) always aims for a high level of ease of use.
With any MP3 player, you don’t have a uniform way of getting music. It might come with applications to rip music, and even tell you where to legally download music. But then you factor in the compatibility. It may also give you a audio converter so everything works with your player. And it’s own media manager to boot. But with the iPod, you get just iTunes. And it’s that relationship that makes the iPod so dominant in the market. The program will rip your CDs. It has access to the store where every song, regardless of what the RIAA wants, will be 99 cents or 10 USD pr CD. And when you bring in your own music, iTunes will not only add it and organize it, but convert it to AAC if need be. It’s less work on the consumer. That is an appeal. And you have to pay for this convenience. It is the real reason why these products became dominant is for their consumer design.
However the PSP with 3rd party software or as the communities call it âhomebrewâ has common like music and video playback, image viewing and internet browsing and in those areas I’m sure the PSP will be comparable to the Ipod range products.
The iPhone won’t play any games though, at least they haven’t announced that it will, which is what most people who have a PSP use it for.
Network to support the 2.5G network that the iPhone uses and the network is lacking several places and has to be considered.

Comparing the Kindle and Sony Reader in the UK
Ok, I will assume you’re looking for the best eBook reader for use in the UK if you’ve read this far. One of the top factors in my decision to buy the Kindle is the vast amount of book titles and publications available in the Kindle store when compared to other download stores for use with other eBook reader devices.
In particular, I looked at both the Amazon Kindle and Sony reader in detail before I purchased my Kindle. The Sony reader uses the Waterstones online bookstore for it’s downloads in the UK. Now while the most popular book titles are available, the quantity of electronic book titles available is very poor when compared to the Kindle store.
Text to Speech functionality on the Amazon Kindle
If you have read about the new Amazon Kindle DX you will have noticed the new “text to speech” function which the Amazon Kindle boasts. This is surely another key factor which puts the Kindle over its competition. So what is this “text to speech” thing?
Well the Kindle reading device supports PDF and other eBook formats so you can read all your favorite books to your hearts content. However, should you get tired of reading or say you need to take a drive, this new function reads the book to you much like an audiobook on the iPod. This new feature is excellent to pass time when driving, relaxing or going to sleep.
Can I use the Amazon Kindle for uses other than reading?
The simple answer is yes. The Kindle is a fantastic companion while away from the office. The Kindle has email functionality letting you stay connected with people while you’re on the go. The Kindle also lets you convert your emailed office documents into Kindle format allowing you to view your office documents directly on your Amazon Kindle.

Amazon Kindle: The Wireless Device using Whispernet technology available in the UK
Amazon Kindle’s new wireless feature allows you to download books, read email and access the web by wireless using its Whispernet technology. Wireless access is free using Amazon’s proprietary technology.
This new exciting feature allows you to access news, weather, Wikipedia and browse web sites to your heart’s content. The web browser is significantly faster than its previous model providing an enjoyable web experience while you’re on the move.
Final Thoughts and Conclusions
I hope you found the above review helpful and I have summarised the top features below which make the Amazon Kindle stand out from the other devices in the market.
- Stores hundreds of books and can download from 90,000 books in the Kindle store
- Downloads books wirelessly from the Kindle store without access to your home computer or having to be near a wifi spot
- With the Kindle’s new text to speech function it can read the book to you. This is much like how audiobooks work on the iPod or iPhone
- The Kindle is capable or viewing much more than books – blogs, newspapers, magazines, email, websites, etc.
- Fabulous dictionary support to help with those frustrating crosswords
- Email support on the Kindle
- Converts popular office document formats to a format compatible with the Kindle allowing you to read on the Amazon Kindle wherever you are
- Auto rotation allowing your book to change as you change when you rotate the Kindle. This works just like it does on the iTouch and iPhone.
- Battery life is very impressive lasting a few days before your next charge even if you leave the wireless on for emails. You can even read while the Kindle charges.
The Kindle is my favourite portable device. I love reading and I love the Kindle which combines reading and online access allowing you to download more books without having to be beside your home computer or laptop. The Kindle experience feels just like you are reading a book or newspaper.
Amazon have certainly made excellent improvements on the DX model. With its new sharper resolution, wireless access via Whispernet and a vast unrivalled Kindle store for book content. You will love the new Kindle. Enjoy your books the Kindle way.
Lenovo X61 Tablet Review: a Portable Powerhouse
Lenovo X61 Tablet Review: a Portable Powerhouse
The Lenovo X61 Tablet computer, has provided the computer world with a sleek, highly portable, and highly versatile convertible PC notebook of the kind is highly in demand by people who are always on the go, such as university students, field reps, entrepreneurs, and soccer moms. In addition, it’s very simply a tool totally designed for geeks such as the helplessly computer enamored and professional writers and journalists.
Lenovo’s beloved X series of personal convertible electronic notebooks continues its evolution of the electronic tablet with the Lenovo X61 Tablet, an improvement even over its ‘PC Magazine’ Editor’s choice, the forerunner X41, while taking care of the flaws of the in-between X60 (more efficient performance, longer battery life, and higher testers’ scores against industry expectations).
The Lenovo X61 Tablet takes miniaturization to another level while improving computational power and versatility. This is a good thing, although some PC users might be somewhat irritated at times with the Munchkinization that can make typing a little more of a challenge for those with larger than average sized hands, especially men.
The Lenovo X61 Tablet has been all the rage in the PC savvy world since it was released last year. It sports what is still considered to be the very best laptop keyboard in the industry and a sturdy, rugged, sleek black matte finish over a light circuitry chassis (made with light-but-strong magnesium alloy), and it’s almost instantly ready as soon as you get it out of the box. The ThinkPad X61’s electronics were based on Intel’s Santa Rosa platform, which was the very first x86 (Core and Pentium CPU chips) chip platform to be introduced for PCs back in 2003. The Lenovo X61 Tablet’s powerful Core 2 Duo processor (X61 models come customized with your choice of the R, T, X, or Z family) is in the direct line of descent from this platform.
Because of its target audience, the Lenovo X61 Tablet does not give in to the industry warming trend of the wide screen, but keeps the standard 12″ screen, keeping vertical scrolling needs lesser. Not only does it have, despite its miniaturization, the full-sized keyboard that made the X41 so beloved, it also features cutting edge TrackPoint pointer-stick technology that is simply unmatched. The ThinkPad X61 Tablet’s one of a kind 180° swivel hinge allows cutting edge screen swivel-and-flip mobility ideal for note-taking, writing, database management, and collaborating.
The Lenovo X61 Tablet is fully compatible with Windows Vista and it can be fitted with embedded WWAN (wireless wide area network, or “wireless broadband”), adding even more to its on-the-go versatility. It’s also very easy to use function keys that enable Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technology. However, the X61 Tablet has been criticized by some for not having a built-in optical drive (Lenovo offers a separate, attachable docking station but that weights two pounds, and the built-in optical option was kept out for the sake of weight in the first place).
Starting prices for the Lenovo X61 Tablet typically begin a little over ,050 before configuration. Some find the X61 Tablet pricey, but you get what you pay for.
Review Article HP Pavilion tx2000z Tablet Portable Computer
Review Article HP Pavilion tx2000z Tablet Portable Computer
It was distinctive in being one of several only entertainment-minded laptops having a resistive digitizer display. HP has refreshed the tx1000 using the tx2000, which brings a technology refresh as well as a full active WACOM digitizer.
We discovered the design of the tx2000 to become strikingly similar to the previous design. While the prior model combined black and silver cues, creating a piecemeal effect, the new model swaps the silver hinge with a black a single for much more uniform style. The exact same goes for that inside, where the black keyboard was replaced with a silver one, matching the base. The tx2000 also sports an ‘Echo’ imprint, which looks like crop-circles, on both the lid and the palmrests, unlike the ‘wave’ imprint that was present on the tx1000.
The speakers remain on the hinge itself, which is a superb design option. In real-world usage the classic laptop position is poorly suited for a number of activities, including watching videos. If you’re on a plane, for instance, the normal laptop position is usually at odds with the seat before you. Try turning the monitor around and watching from that position. You’ll be glad the speakers turned with the picture.
The keyboard remains nearly identical to the tx1000, which would be to say smooth with excellent tactile feedback. The crucial noise is about the loud side, but some break-in will most likely decrease that somewhat. The keyboard was changed to silver to match the base, and also the correct shift key was enlarged to full-size. The whole keyboard feels less cramped than the original. I have larger-than-average hands, making this high about the totem pole for me.
Fortunately, the touchpad is the exact same one we came to enjoy about the tx1000. It uses an fascinating inverted bump design for superb tactile feel, and a separate bar about the correct for scrolling. This appears to work much better than other laptops, which combine the scrollbar with the touchpad. Above the touchpad is a silver switch which turns the touchpad on or off, if you’re using an alternate input device or to avoid accidental touch recognition.
We were interested to determine what the TL-66 could muster. It posted a Worldbench 6 score of 53, which isn’t very impressive. 3DMark ‘06 scored a paltry 192 3dMarks. The Turion X2 processor helped post a more respectable 2313 using PCMark Vantage.
When placed into tablet form, the screen orients so the fan is facing directly toward you. That means you’ve got a significant amount of hot air blowing directly onto your leg. It looks like HP didn’t have much of a choice, since the opposite end housed the energy plug. You need to pick between a energy cord jabbing your leg or a load of hot air. After 30 seconds of use, I decided on the power cord.
HP has been bringing some thoughtful design towards the laptop computer market within the last few years. This laptop computer is particularly distinctive — it is a convertible notebook with an entertainment focus. The tx2000 seems a lot faster than the benchmarks it posted, and we didn’t feel hampered by the AMD processor platform. Sadly image quality suffers about the touchscreen, lacking the clarity and vibrance of other displays. Also, we discovered the digitizer to become inaccurate when registering touches, even though the inking was simple to use. Calibrating the pen and the screen helped, although the hand writing recognition software discovered it hard to really read my handwriting. To be fair, it’s not simple for me either.
As a laptop, this device is simple to recommend. However, I wasn’t impressed with the accuracy of the active digitizer. I’d enjoy visiting what HP brings to the tablet with their next refresh. With a more consistent technique of transcribing penstrokes to electronic letters, HP will have a real hit on their hands. Until then, this laptop computer is only halfway there.

For Internet Video Publishing And Portable Players, What Video Format Should We Choose?
For Internet Video Publishing And Portable Players, What Video Format Should We Choose?
We often watch movies for entertainment, but may have never thought about video compression formats. There are various video formats for us to enjoy movies on PCs, on the Internet or on portable player devices. The formats enable us to watch better quality video, depending on how advanced they are. If we watch a movie in a particular format, we would just get acceptable video quality; but if we also watch the same movie in another format, we would get better or even the best video quality. This is because the video format used in some movies is not as advanced as in others. Every video format has its particular strengths. We can choose one or more that best suits your needs. Now let’s discuss some common video formats.
AVI – AVI (Audio Video Interleave) format was developed by Microsoft. Videos stored in the AVI format have the extension *.avi. This format is widely used in daily life, and its video quality is superior, while there are also many defects such as its large size, which takes a lot of storage space on a hard drive. AVI movies can be played with common third party media playing programs such as “Windows Media Player, “RealPlayer”, etc. You can choose AVI for creating video for PC, Archos, Creative Zen Vision, and YouTube, MySpace and Google Video services.
MPEG – MPEG (Moving Picture Expert Group) is an international compression standard designed for moving images. The MPEG format is the most popular format on the Internet. It is cross-platform, and is supported by all popular web browsers. Videos stored in the MPEG format have the extension *.mpg or *.mpeg. Currently, MPEG includes three compression standards: MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4. The MPEG algorithms compress data to form small bits that can be easily transmitted and then decompressed. MP4 format is often used for Apple iPod, Sony PSP, Epson P-2000/4000 or mobile phones with MPEG-4 video support; while MPEG is often usedfor saving video in MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 format on PCs.
WMV – WMV (Windows Media Video) was developed by Microsoft. WMV is a common format on the Internet, but WMV movies cannot be played on non-Windows computer without an extra component installed. Videos stored in the WMV format have the extension *.wmv. WMV is commonly used for movie playback on Windows PCs, and the software required to play back WMV files is inswtalled on most Windows PCs. WMV movies can be played with third party media player programs such as “Windows Media Player”, “RealPlayer”, etc. WMV is often used for Pocket PCs running under Mobile Windows OS, like HP iPaq and portable players: Archos and Creative Zen Vision.
RM – The RealVideo format was developed for the Internet by Real Media. The format allows for the streaming of video such as Internet TV or video with low bandwidths, and so the quality is often reduced. Videos stored in the RealVideo format have the extension *.rm or *.ram. To transmit and play real-time video files in narrow-bandwidth Internet, Real Media adopts distinct compression rates according to the bandwidth. Currently, many websites provide RealVideo files. You can use RealPlayer or RealOne Player to play videos compressed by RealMedia technology. Another important feature of the format is video files can be played without downloading, if you use RealPlayer or RealOne Player.
FLV – Flash Video is a container file format used to deliver video over the Internet using Adobe Flash Player – initially produced by Macromedia. FLV Format is the most popular video format available on the Internet with some of the best websites engaging their viewers with Flash-based videos. An FLV file encodes synchronized audio and video streams. It is estimated that a one-minute video consumes 2 or 3 MB of RAM, while a five-minute video consumes an average of 3 or 4 MB. Longer videos can be played without requiring a linear increase in memory. So, FLV is often used for delivering video over the Internet.
Depending upon the purpose of your video, such as for Internet video publishing, saving in portable players, or saving in PCs, we can choose one or more formats best suited for you. I hope my sharing some information about some common video formats I know may help you choose the best suitable video format for your need. If you need a video software program for playing and converting multi-format videos, I recommend trying AV Video Morpher, an all-in-one video program that helps you not only play and convert videos but also does a whole lot more.
