Gateway LT2022u 10.1-Inch Netbook – The Most Affordable Netbook Model

Gateway LT2022u 10.1-Inch Netbook – The Most Affordable Netbook Model

Specifications: Gateway has always been making lots of great, budget-friendly PCs and now, it has finally made its entry into the netbook market. Until recently, the Acer Aspire One has been the most affordable netbook model in the market. All that is set to change with the new Gateway LT2022u netbook!

This new Gateway netbook comes with an Intel Atom Processor (1.6Ghz), 160GB hard drive, a 10.1-inch LED back-lit screen and 1GB of DDR2 RAM. Despite its price, it has most of the features found on other netbook models with bigger price tags. It has wi-fi connectivity (801.11b/g), a 5-in-1 one memory card reader, stereo speakers, 3 USB ports, a web cam, audio jacks and it runs n Windows XP Home Edition SP3. The track pad also supports multi-touch gestures.

Design: The Gateway LT2022u may be one of the most affordable netbooks in the market, but let me just say that it is one of the most expensive looking laptops I have ever seen. It is extremely portable, measuring at 10.18 x 7.24 x 1.03 inches and weighing around 2.6 pounds. It comes in black and red where the external casing has a glossy finish while the internal (keyboard area) has a matte surface. I particularly like the black model. The black is beautifully contrasted by silver hinges and the palm rest area around the track pad has a textured surface. All in all, this netbook looks very classy and elegant.

Features & Performance: The Gateway LT2022u would perform as well as any other netbook models in the market. It has 3-cell battery than can last up to 3 hours on a single charge. Surfing the net, checking your e-mails and watching movies on this little netbook would prove to be a delight, especially with the incorporated Dolby Headphone Technology and HD audio features. All in all, the Gateway LT2022u will prove to be a formidable competitor to other reigning netbook models (such as the Acer Aspire One, Asus Eee PC and Toshiba Mini). At the moment, this model retails for just around 9 each, which is an amazing deal!

Android X86 2.2 Froyo on an Ecafe EC900 Netbook, an evenings experimentations

Android X86 2.2 Froyo on an Ecafe EC900 Netbook, an evenings experimentations

The Android operating system is also available for X86 based CPU’s.  Known as Android x86 it is available from the Androidx86.org website.

After downloading both the eee and generic CD images I burned them to disk and equipped with my external DVD writer and a Hercules Ecafe 900 netbook I started my exercise in testing Android 2.2 Froyo.  I would like to say it was a breeze, however, it wasn’t!  Neither of the CD’s would boot up correctly and disappointment was creeping in, after all I haven’t had any other issues running Live Linux CD’s on my netbooks and Android runs atop of the Linux kernel.

Not to deterred I thought I would create a bootable USB pen drive with the CD image installed and test to see if it would work from a USB pen.  After downloading Unetbootin from  http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/ I was able to create  the bootable pen drive ready for testing. Unetbootin is available for both Windows or Linux operating systems.

Hitting the F11 key on the netbook to bring up the boot menu screen I selected the pen drive and away it went.  A few seconds later and up came the selection screen to run as a live installation or to install to hard drive.  After selecting the top menu item to run Android as a live installation HDMPI the system continued to boot up and after about 30 seconds I was sitting looking at an Android desktop.

The touchpad is still the mouse cursor on screen as after all I haven’t installed a touchscreen on my netbook. The home desktop page has no icons linking to any installed applications and so it looked very sparse.  However, they are all but a mouse click away on a different screen.

Off to ’settings’ I headed to configure the wifi.  Oops it doesn’t recognise the inbuilt wifi of the Ecafe.  After trying to load the wifi module from a console window (It has the same virtual consoles of more standard Linux desktops) and after copying the firmware from my hard drive I was unable to enable the wireless connection.  The ethernet connection worked fine, but who wants to use a netbook on ethernet unless they have no choice?

Next was to reboot and test the install to hard drive on a partition I had made available at the end of my drive.  The drive is a 60GB unit and has been split in such a way that the computer already has Windows XP and Mandriva 2010.2 (Linux) installed.  As I always use Mandriva the default boot item is set accordingly.  On selecting to Install the Android to hard drive I followed the prompts and when asked selected to install to one of my partitions.  In my case this was sda9.  For those unfamiliar with Linux sda is traditionally the device name for the first SATA or SCSI disk drive, sda1 would be the first primary partition as the partitions count upwards, sda5 is the first extended partition and within this are to be found my 6,7,8 and 9 partitions.  During the install it asked me if I wanted to mount the system as read only or read and writeable.  I selected the latter, it warns that it may take longer to install, however, it still only took a few minutes.

Now one of the items it asks during the install is do you want to install GRUB.  GRUB  is a very powerful boot loader that allows you to boot many different operating systems, there are a few things to be wary of if you already have a GRUB boot loader installed.  Which due to having a dual OS system already I did! As I am able to boot my Mandriva or XP.  The Android boot loader recognised my Windows XP but not my Mandriva and so after installation was completed I could now only boot in to XP or Android.  Not what I wanted as I had just lost the OS that I use nearly all the time.

After rebooting and testing the Android options I still had no wifi, although it now started more quickly than from the pen drive.  I really wanted my Mandriva back and to also be able to boot XP or Android.

Back to the external DVD drive and my Mandriva install DVD.  Select rescue system, select re-install GRUB boot loader.  5 minutes later I am back in to my main OS, wonderful!

Starting my system in Mandriva I was then able to see the Android partition and the directory and file structures.  By using a text editor and copying and pasting the items in my menu.lst from the Froyo partition in to the menu.lst file for my Mandriva with a small amount of further editing I then had the boot menus and options that I wanted.

Re-starting the computer yet again, GREAT!  All 3 operating systems are now available and all boot correctly.

Still no wifi though is a little bit of a nuisance,  however, I had up to now only used the generic Android x86 image.  So may be if I tried the eee specific image.  I have an eee but this was for the Hercules so would it work?  Swapping the image on the pen drive using unetbootin I booted the live eee image. A warning came up during boot saying it wasn’t an Asus product.  After boot up and in to settings and hey ho the wifi works.  Not too much of a surprise as the eee and the Ecafe use the same hardware for the wifi.

A second hard drive install of Android later, but this time using the eee image.  I chose not to install GRUB as everything was already in place, it only needed to change the files on the partition.

After an evening of experimenting and being patient I now have what I wanted.  A system that is able to boot in to 3 very different operating systems.

Now an operating system by its self is not of much use, you need to have applications to make use of.  Google control which devices are able to connect to the Android Market and so the x86 version on my netbook as one that is excluded from the party would be useless except for anything but basic browsing.  Yes it has a Youtube App installed, however, the playback is very jumpy and stilted in comparison to that on my wifes Zenithink Apad.  Yet the browsing and screen updates for non video content is actually faster than on the Apad.  It is a work in progress and should there be a range of x86 based tablets or netbooks released running Android then I am sure many of these issues will be rectified.  The netbook does have a way to install extra apps using Andmarket, there aren’t as many apps available as they have to be compiled to be able to work on the Intel CPU instead of the ARM based processors commonly found using the Android OS.  There are certainly enough available for someone like my self as I’m not a big games, movie or music buff.  The one game I have played on my wifes Apad that I would of liked to install and that is available on Andmarket is Angry Birds.  Oddly enough it wouldn’t install, neither is there a flashplayer plugin available, so I can’t play the Scrabble against friends on-line.  The apps installed start very quickly and with the 1GB of memory of the Ecafe it doesn’t start to grind to a halt as quickly as the 256MB of the Apad.

As more applications become available for x86/netbook users then this ‘port’ of Android would be ideal for parents with children that wanted to use the same interface on their phone as on their computer.  Children or adults that already have Android devices will find the system starts up very quickly and if you want to install an after-market touch screen to their netbook they wouldn’t have to use the touchpad or keyboard at all.

Will I keep the x86 version of Android installed on this computer?  Yes I think I will, in my case just so I can have a play around and keep up top date with how it is developing in the months to come.  My wifes website at www.inpedia.co.uk works the same as on a desktop or as the other OSes on the netbook behave.  Because it believes it is a portable/mobile device the BBC, Facebook and certain other pages load special ‘mobile’ versions of the web pages.  I find them annoying in their screen resolution, although I am sure other users may not!  The pages I have tested can all be told to switch back to their full site page from links normally found on the page.  Some games such as Jewels run in only part of the screen, not only that but they run in portrait mode rather than landscape.  Luckily as they have been uninstalled after testing them they can’t annoy me any further.

For everything serious, as well as the non serious things that computers get used for I will still be booting the Ecafe in to Mandriva 2010.2.  It has all the applications that I need to use every day (even if I take it to my work with me).  The one thing I can be certain of is that the Windows XP is likely to stay as the OS that gets used the least.  Not because of any fanatical reason, I have made a good living supporting Windows in the past, simply that with Mandriva I have no need to and with the Android I have something new to tinker around and learn.

If Android (Froyo) had been available or something of similar quality on the early eee’s and other netbooks then may be now the market would not be so full of computers creaking at the seams with poorly maintained factory installed Windows.  The advantage a vanilla Linux or Android has is that they can both be fully installed and run from a pen drive. With XP a specialist image is available or you can even install XP to boot from a USB drive or SD card using a utility such as Usboot, however, the speed is somewhat lacking, especially compared to the very nimble Android x86 on the same hardware.

Do I need a desktop, laptop or netbook?

Do I need a desktop, laptop or netbook?

Choosing the type of system comes down to what level of price and convenience you need. Desktop systems are less expensive so you can get more bang for your buck. Laptop systems have gotten to the point that they are good desktop replacements and can be found in screen sizes up to 20 inches. For the ultimate convenience there are the netbooks. The concept of a netbook is a travel companion that lets you browse the web, take notes, maybe shoot video, with long laptop battery life and the ultimate in convenience.

The Choices

The primary choices you have to make are operating system, processing unit, memory, network, hard drive, and monitor. The choices below are from the perspective of a desktop system but generally hold true for a laptop or netbook as well.

Operating System

Today the primary decision is between getting a Windows system or something by Apple. Staying away from the religious fervor of the discussion, both are pretty easy to use, both will get you on the Internet, and both are available pretty much everywhere. Windows systems are far more popular to buy since they can be found in a wide range of stores and also cost less. Absent a good friend who is an Apple user or a specific need such as professional graphic design, get yourself a Windows system.

Currently, buying a new Windows-based computer will come with Windows 7, and the reviews of this version are good. If given a choice, I would skip Vista and XP and just move to Windows 7. There will be little if any development or fixes on the older systems.

Processors

There was a time when the speed of your computer processing unit was important, perhaps the most important buying factor of the purchase. That is no longer the case. With entry level machines starting above 2.0 Ghz and multi-processor multi-core systems readily available from major vendors, processors are not the most important factor, but you should consider one thing when you buy your computer when selecting a processor … how long will it be before you buy another processor?

If it is more than 3 years then get the best processor you can afford. It should not be more than 0 for the upgrade to the best one available through a major vendor like HP or Dell for a desktop system. If you upgrade more frequently, like every 2 years, then the processor is less important.

Memory

The dirty little secret of both Windows Vista and Windows 7 is that they will use more memory if it is available and your system performance will improve significantly because of it. With memory prices as low as they are today I would strongly recommend that you get the most memory that you can afford to put in the machine. It will have the strongest impact on system performance of all your choices. Don’t get hung up on the different types of memory available unless you are a computer hobbyist who wants the latest and greatest.

Networking

With the advent of wireless networking several years ago, computer use started to explode. No longer did you have to pull cumbersome cables throughout your home or office. Setup a wireless access point connected to the Internet, configure your networking on your computer and BAM, you’re done. Anyone buying a desktop system today is likely to have an on-board networking connection for a local area network that you can plug your network cable into. Usually you can get an upgrade from the manufacturer to the latest wireless standard, 802.11n, for about . I’d recommend you take the upgrade if you have a desktop system. It is super convenient to have it available. If you are on a laptop or netbook then it is critically important that you take it and well worth the money.

Hard Drives

With the release of 1TB drives for dirt cheap prices you would think that hard drive choices are a thing of the past, but not so. If you plan on burning DVDs and storing music on your computer make sure you get at least 300GB of hard drive storage which is about the minimum a vendor is going to offer you anyway. More is better depending on your needs.

Monitors

People work better with and enjoy bigger monitors. Wide screen monitors are available up to 30 inches or more. From a price perspective they can be found up to about 24 inches for a reasonable price. Consider that upgrade. It is almost always bought separately from the computer and will cost you 0 or so for the nice ones. If you want to splurge on one thing for your computer consider upgrading to dual monitors. It is a very nice thing to have.

I didn’t discuss anything about keyboard, mice, tablets, speakers, and other accessories. Get what you like. I like wireless mice and keyboards, but am not militant about it. It’s just convenient. It’s an incidental cost to the full system anyway. If you are not a hobbyist or specialist, just get what you like or what’s on sale.

Netbook with Freescale model can be run only under Linux

Netbook with Freescale model can be run only under Linux

Sony has an expensive 8-inch netbook that the company claims, is introducing the lightest on the wholesale laptop batteries market at 1.4 pounds.

Sony finally released a Li-ion Laptop Battery Recall total in September 2006. The reason was to address “recent overheating incidents,” which had pushed computer manufacturers to recall about 10 million units.

Netbook with Freescale model can be run only under Linux. ARM-based processors also require special software add-on for some applications, social networks like Facebook, “said Bill Kircos, a spokesman for Intel in Arizona.

Other features include a large, comfortable keyboard, and a smooth, precise multitouch-gesture-capable touchpads. While the bar touchpad button is a bit ’stiff, has a satisfying “click” when activated and is not susceptible to accidental pressing the wrong time. The main disappointments are the Ctrl and functions, which are so narrow and so close that it is easy to hit one over the other by mistake. I also wish that Acer has provided an HDMI port for video output instead of VGA port less useful.

Lenovo ThinkPad T42 Battery hybrid is definitely the coolest gadgets at the Consumer Electronics Show.

However, the Tablet PC at the beginning were in power and battery life is poor, but these problems were corrected in time.

This new midspan offers a combination of high power, support for Gigabit and 2-event classification. This is a pioneering solution in a market where PoE, until now, the barrier to adoption Poe was its limitation to 15.4 W and 30 W, respectively, 802.3af and 802.3at applications. Sound and Memory
The sound quality of the speakers is thin (the 1000H sounds relatively better), but that is improving with the equalizer in the Realtek driver. Through the headphone out, however, the audio quality of the NC10 fine. The SD, SDHC or MMC cards in the card reader can not fully be “clicked” (still a few mm outside the chassis stabbing). The standard 1GB memory provided plenty for web browsing, e-mail, MSN and / or VoIP. The memory, if necessary (eg Vista), easy to expand with 1×2GB (for the 1GB module).

Re: Samsung NC10 Netbook

Software
The operating system is Windows XP on the NC10. Windows XP, the predecessor of Windows Vista. Windows XP is still widely used in netbooks, because it requires less processing power than the demanding Vista. The modest Intel Atom processor netbooks functions therefore better and faster with XP. XP also offers a stable work environment. Obviously Windows XP optimal interaction with other Microsoft programs like Office, Explorer, and Exchange. The presence of Windows XP, which comes with Microsoft Office Mobile, you can at the Samsung NC10 Word and Excel Files.

Screen, keyboard and touchpad
10 “is a relatively small screen (1024×600 native). For anyone who has a couple of hours to work with the NC10 is the ability to connect external monitor (VGA). The quality of the image on my Dell 2007FP ( 1600X1200) is surprisingly good (almost equivalent to VGA / Radeon), although via DVI / Radeon (X1600) image (obviously) better. The touchpad of the NC10 is small (1000H is larger) but after some getting used to them is good work. Keyboard however is larger and more logical classification than the 1000H. The few programs that do not work because the resolution on the NC10, course work or at a remote monitor whose screen resolution minimum 1024X768 or higher.

Battery
I have three times the battery fully charged and discharged (or until maximum capacity). To WiFi, BT, 2 stripes brightness, the battery life is 6 a 7 hours, which roughly corresponds to this test. Wait how is that after frequent recharging will be. You can also calibrate the battery via the BIOS (Smart battery calibration). How you deal with a laptop battery, see the Battery FAQ. The battery life (battery life) is with Windows 7 (5.15 hours) against. It is not clear whether the battery life is longer with Vista than with XP (6.34 hours). Asus specifies the 1000H/Linux one hours less battery life than XP.

Video Call
With the integrated 1.3-megapixel digital camera of the Samsung NC10 easier than you ever keep in touch with friends and family via videoconferencing. The camera combines the resolution and picture quality of a camera with high frame rates of a continuous video.

Connectivity
Allows easy sharing of information with a variety of advanced connectivity tools, including a 3-in-1 memory card reader (SD, SDHC, MMC), 3 USB ports and built-in Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), so your pictures easily , films and can exchange data with virtually any modern camera, peripherals and audiovisual equipment.
Prices and Review Samsung NC10

The cheapest Samsung NC10 costs currently (commercially) Rs. 28,477/.

Re: Samsung NC10 Netbook

Conclusion
A netbook is a small, light weight, low-cost, energy-efficient laptop, currently optimized for Internet services like web browsing and e-mail. The featureset and performance of the NC10 I think from that perspective (more than) enough. Without doing violence to the aforementioned concept, the uses of the netbook can be expanded (eg more powerful CPU and adding 3G functionality). All in all I think the Samsung NC10 one of the best 10 “netbooks currently available. The NC10 will also available with built in 3G broadband module.

Sony’s Vaio X netbook attempts to reach a different class of customer than do most netbooks

Sony’s Vaio X netbook attempts to reach a different class of customer than do most netbooks

The iPad is designed as a mobile Internet machine. The integrated Safari browser runs impressively fast, even on complex Web sites. Put to the key web standards test Acid3, the iPad scored a perfect 100 points. That said, Apple has stubbornly refused to incorporate Adobe’s Flash technology, frequently used on the web for video playback, interactive graphics and online games.

Sony’s Vaio X netbook attempts to reach a different class of customer than do most netbooks, which are inexpensive and tend to underwhelm on performance. With a starting price of ,299, Sony is aiming the Vaio X at mobile professionals looking for an ultra-lightweight computer with a physical keyboard and a VGP-BPS2A battery that will last maybe half a workday without needing to be recharged. It’s a great machine if you have no problem with sticker shock in a category wherein many netbooks sell for 0.

The two new 13-inch MacBook Pros feature 2.4GHz and 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processors, up from 2.26GHz and 2.53GHz respectively, with 4GB RAM. While this speed increase can only be a good thing, we have to wonder why Apple is sticking with the Core 2 Duo instead of going for a Core i3 or even a low-end Core i5, taking the entire MacBook Pro range over to the new CPUs. Using a Core 2 Duo as the rest of the MacBook Pro range moves to the Core-i chips makes the 13-inch model look a little dated.

Netbook vendors seemed to have agreed on a certain set of solutions such as 1G memory, 100G+ hard drive, Intel Atom processor, embedded cameras, etc., but after that, the choices are many. It has taken me a while to get to this point, but if you were to buy a Netbook today, the minimum requirements should be.

The highly attractive Toshiba(Satellite A300 Battery) Mini NB305-N410BN is a 10.1-inch netbook that offers features and performance comparable to many other netbooks. Looks-wise, however, it is hard to beat. You can purchase the Mini NB305-N410BN for 9.99, and it comes with a one-year warranty as well as technical support online or via telephone.

Good battery life, design and ergonomics, plus a reasonable £256 exc VAT price, mean that HP ’s latest netbook immediately becomes one of our favourites. The Toshiba retains its A List crown thanks to a better trackpad and wireless, but it’s a close-run thing and the stylish HP is good enough to earn a Recommended award instead.

Several years ago, there was a debate about the safety of li-ion batteries after millions were recalled due to overheating and the potential to catch fire. Since then, the technology has been adapted to address many of those hazards, but li-ion batteries are still more volatile than other battery types.

One of the first things you notice with the 5310m is that it feels very solid—almost like a ThinkPad(ThinkPad T60 battery), though obviously it looks completely different. The magnesium alloy main body provides a firm foundation to build upon, and the LCD and cover are sturdy as well showing very little twist or flex. The keyboard is likewise free of flex and provides a comfortable typing surface. All told, build quality is definitely a highlight of the ProBook.

We performed ours standard bevy of tests on these new Apple MacBook Pro models, and compared them to the previous generation of 13in MacBook Pro, the new 2.4GHz 15in MacBook Pro and the 13in unibody MacBook.

The new entry-level MacBook Pro also proved to be faster than the previous “better” and “best” configurations in the 15-inch lineup, with 2.66GHz and 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo processors, respectively. Comparing the new 2.4GHz Core i5 MacBook Pro with the previous top of the line 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, the new entry-level 15-inch was 5 percent faster in our Speedmark 6 testing, with 7 percent faster scores in our Photoshop test, 17 percent faster Cinebench CPU score, 16 percent faster MathematicaMark 7 score, and 19 percent faster Aperture score.

Lenovo S10 Notebook Review- Full review of Lenovo’s new netbook

Lenovo S10 Notebook Review- Full review of Lenovo’s new netbook

It has an Intel Atom processor at 1.6ghz, 512mb RAM, and a 10.2″; LED backlit screen. However, some things were made to be for the better concerning with what options feature a netbook. Not all netbooks Are identical, but for the S10 it has some neat tricks up it’s lid, and some standards it needs to understand…

The S10 can come in a variety of colors, but they all have one point in common – they are proportionate, and carry nice style aesthetics. Of the netbooks available, I must say the lines from the S10 are some of the most appealing. Our model is a pearl-escent white – featuring a 3-cell battery. Everything seems to flow, from the latchless lid, relatively thin bezel surround, and attractive chrome like accents…if you can’t tell, the S10 does excel within the design department.

The S10 size measures in at making it a 9.8″ x 7.2″ x 1.1″, which is a bit thinner than the MSI Wind we just lately reviewed, and being that it only incorporated a 3-cell battery rather than a 6-cell choice since the Wind, it weighs a little bit less too tipping the scale in at a couple of.4 pounds. It’s quite evenly balanced, making computing 1 hand rather simple with the S10.

The keyboard for a 10.2″ netbook, is instead cramped. I don’t know what happened, as I’m usually awestruck using the keyboards on Lenovo’s recently, but this model, does not strike the same emotion. It’ s not just the cramped feeling, it’s the actual placement of some keys and omission of other people. For example, I’m not sure who’s idea it was to reduce a mute button (or fn combination for instance) but it doesn’t exist that I could find. I’m not one to think about what needs to happen when I need my volume to mute – I just press the buttons and be done with it. With the S10, this isn’t an option. Also, I’m not sure the explanation for having a FN F11 to restore F12 – but it could be in part that the tilde crucial is so apparent isn’t component of the normal crucial layout that seemingly the rest of the laptop world has adopted. Another point, I’m not sure, but I believe “backspace” is 1 word, and not two words mashed together producing it “BackSpace” – but I could be very wrong, somebody correct me here…but Lenovo thinks it’s BackSpace…and I don’t agree.

Amongst those, there are two odd sized layout keys I find on the S10: the smallest tab key because my smartphone and the correct shift key. Not my choice of use or size.

The trackpad however is a good one – firm and consistent travel, nevertheless the buttons are rather noisy along with a small stiff. I don’t know if these work out over time, but as far as I’m concerned – the touch choice on the Snyaptics touchpad ought to suffice most users (and the fact it’s a Synaptics touchpad and not a Sentellic off-shoot) with its side scrolling purpose, makes points manageable albeit tolerable for such a small touch region.

At 10.2″ along with a resolution of 1024×600, it follows the same suite as the MSI Wind – but it’s not as sharp and the viewing agles are a bit off. They’re about the same since the Wind, but I discover the Wind’s LCD having a lot more contrast and brightness.

The S10 features a nice amount of connectivity options for this cost range and target audience who are into extreme mobility and form factor.

The left side from the S10 functions an exhaust port, VGA out, multi-card reader, and a USB a couple of. Port.

The front does not have anything other than several status lights.

The suitable side functions and Express card slot, headphone, microphone, USB a couple of. port, Network port and lock slot region.

So, this netbook only has two USB 2. ports – but it does come packaged with a mini-express card which I do like the notion of.

Acer Aspire 11.6″ AO751H Netbook: Big Screen, Lite Weight, And Priced Right

In today’s tough economic condition, uncovering the “best bang for your bucks” is more important than before. This belief is particularly important for things that we must have to make our lives better or allow us to be more productive. Take for example, the computers that we use. Being online is vital for students who do research and travelling business professionals who need to communicate with their colleagues through email. They use laptops. But laptops can be very expensive (as in thousands of dollars), bulky (as in over a foot-and-a-half wide), and heavy (as in 3-5 lbs).

Now come the netbooks. These are laptops but have been reduced to its basic purpose for online web surfing, messaging, and light work such as paper composition or reports. They are small and compact. 9 to 10 inch screens seem to be the average size. Also, travelling office workers and students will love the netbook’s average weight of less than 3 lbs. They’re much easier and lighter to travel with. Easily as important is the netbook’s price. They retail for less than 0.

Acer 11.6″ Laptop

The Acer 11.6 netbook is special in particular because it is equpped with a screen larger than 10″. Its 11.6″ screen makes it so much easier for consumers to see what they’re doing. Students will have an easier time working on their paper or researching online. Office workers will have a nicer time creating the report or typing up the memo that they need. The 11.6″ screen has a 16:9 aspect ratio with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. That’s the same aspect ratio in most high definition TV. Furthermore, the screen uses a LED-backlit display technology that is energy efficient and helps out in a prolonged battery life. The 6-cell battery can operate up to 7 hours in a single charge.

And Acer is doing this for less than 0. The Acer 11.6 Netbook is available for a retail price of 9.00.

For that price, the Acer 11.6″ Laptop is also not sacrificing any performance. The Acer 11.6 Netbook is equipped with the components seen in many netbooks that’s being sold currently. It comes with a 1.33 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of SDRAM, 160 GB of hard drive space, and Win XP.

What’s considered to be the Acer Aspire 11.6″ AO751H Netbook’s defining feature is the Multi-Gesture Touchpad. It’s fantastic improvement over existing touch pads that are limited in functionality. The Multi-Gesture Touchpad let’s you navigate around files and websites with motions more natural to you. So you could be flicking, pinching, or swirling at the screen and the new touchpad will accommodate you.
