Shattering the #1 Myth in Internet Marketing: Quick Easy Money

Shattering the #1 Myth in Internet Marketing: Quick Easy Money

So why do so many people get fooled into believing Internet Marketing is a “cash cow”? Perhaps due to all the hype we see and hear about how ordinary people, down on their luck, who suddenly discover a system or method that generates large sums of money, quickly and easily while working from home. Guess where all the hype is coming from?  The online marketers who are creating these “get rich quick” schemes and products and selling them to you and I. Certainly there is money to be made in Internet Marketing, but sadly only the elite 3% are making most of it and their profit is from doing a great job of selling and promoting the #1 myth associated with IM, namely “quick and easy money” to the remaining 97% of us!

So how does this happen?  Everyone who has ever been involved with Internet Marketing has their own unique story as to how they got started. Here is a typical chain of events that many of you will probably relate to:

Phase 1 “Buying Into The Myth”
Generally this usually begins with a friend, relative or perhaps job colleague telling them a story about someone they know, or read about, that is making a ton of money since they started their own online business.  Best of all, you are your own boss, work from home, and all you really need is a computer, internet connection, and some basic knowledge of how to create a website. Throw up a website, find a product to sell, either one that you created or someone else’s and get paid a commission on all your sales (called affiliate marketing) and then “presto”, in a short time the money will start rolling in.  No more bills, new car, new house, exotic vacations and let the good times roll! (NOT!  Sorry getting ahead of myself here.)

Phase 2  “Info Overload”
Typically the inexperienced marketer takes on a “sponge” mentality, and is determined to quickly learn everything there is to know about how to make money online. Never dreaming that there are thousands of articles, reports, ebooks (downloadable books), blogs, websites, podcasts, webinars and more that are focused around making money online. Before long your e-mail is full of e-mail messages from people you have never met, all promising to
reveal to you the “secrets” of making money online in exchange for your name and e-mail address. Although you don’t realize it at the time, this is a thing called “list building” which as you will later learn, is essential to making money online.  At this point in time all you know is that this is FREE and so you subscribe to one marketers list after another. Before long your head is swirling with all this information, some of it good, some bad, but all claiming to be the answer to your money making dreams. You go to bed at night with terms such as “SEO“, “PPC”, “CPA”, Adwords, Adsense, Traffic, Tracking, Blogging, etc, all dancing around in your mind. Welcome to “Information Overload”!  So much information that you do not know where to start!

Phase 3 “All That Glitters Is Not Gold”
This phase usually starts to cost you serious money! By this time you are so stressed out over how much there is to learn that you are willing to consider most any quick and easy method to become successful. Enter the “get rich quick schemes”. Remember all that so called “free” material you received in Phase 2 in exchange for your name and e-mail address.  Well it really wasn’t!  This is a very common marketing technique used by most
successful Internet Marketers to get you on their customer list. Now they can e-mail you with product offers, sometimes their own products, but most often other online marketers products that they get a commission on if you purchase the product using the web link they conveniently provide. Click the link and you are sent to a promotional page or sales letter page that tries to convince you in a multitude of ways that you MUST have this product if
you are SERIOUS about making money online.  By this time you are probably so fed up and frustrated by your inability to make money as quick and easy as what you were led to believe (the myth), that out comes the credit card.  Before long yet another message arrives about a NEW launch of a product that will take the Internet business community by storm and make you rich in a few weeks or months. “Ching-Ching” … guess who bought
another product!  In no time at all, you are jumping from one “deal” to another as each one looks better than the last.  This lack of focus and desperation buying ends up costing you mega money and hours and hours of wasted time, with little if any money made in return.

Phase 4 “End Of The Dream”
To reach this point may take weeks, months or even years, depending upon how much money you are willing to throw at your failing Internet Marketing business. The cost may be in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars and all you have to show for it are countless hours spent sitting in front of your computer, a hard drive or book case full of information, and collections of “get rich quick” products that just never seemed to live up to the great promotional advertisements you read before you bought them.  If you are really lucky, then perhaps a few hundred dollars in profit which is rather insignificant given all the time and money you spent to make this small profit. Congratulations, you have now joined the 97% statistic of marketers who failed to create a successful online business.  At this point you may even bitterly announce to all that Internet Marketing doesn’t work, is a scam, or that all successful marketers must be crooks!

But Wait! REWIND to the beginning! How come 3% of the people who develop an online business are successful?  What did most of them know or do, that you didn’t? Have you ever hear the saying “People Don’t Plan To Fail, They Simply Fail To Plan”? This simple quote contains the key to becoming successful in an online business. You MUST have a solid plan of action from the very beginning or find someone who is already very successful as an online marketer (that you feel is sincere and trustworthy) and be prepared to learn from them, copy their successful strategies and techniques, and in the process avoid mistakes that could cost you both time and money.  Now this information and help will probably not be FREE, but it WILL more than pay for itself in the end when thanks to this training and support you can join the elite ranks of the 3% of Internet Marketers who are actually making serious money from their online business efforts.

The Biggest Keyword Myth

The Biggest Keyword Myth

The web is all about content. Finding success in the search industry is all about putting the right content in front of the right user at the right time. How do they do this? Keywords!

There is no denying that all of the popular search engines available today have come a long way from simply counting links and words on pages.

Images, videos, pdfs, flash and other rich media are also being indexed these days along with text-based pages… but the fact remains, users still search using keywords. This is why it’s important not to drop the ball when it comes to keyword strategy and optimising every element on every page.

There’s so much more to optimisation these days than simply making sure that sufficient keywords appear on a page.

Debunking the myth: there is an optimal keyword density

Be very suspicious of SEOs who tell you that the correct keyword density for a key-phrase is between 3% and 8% (or any percentage for that matter). This is simply not true.

Naturally, you cannot hope to rank for a keyword or key-phrase if it does not appear anywhere on your site. However, sheer volume of keywords is not the secret to good rankings.

Many optimisation specialists acknowledge that keyword densities play no role in how commercial search engines process text, index documents or assign weights to keywords.

Indeed, keyword density says nothing about a document’s relevance to a search. It is completely separate from a document’s quality or semantics, and therefore, relevance to a specific topic.

Search engines use complex algorithms with a number of weighted variables to calculate the rankings of sites relative to a specific search term. In fact, in any type of automated information retrieval or text-mining, a weighting system is used.

It’s actually more about weighting than repetition

This weighting is most commonly presented as a tf-idf (term frequency-inverse document frequency) weight. This is a statistical measure which evaluates how important a word is to a document or a corpus of information.

The basic principle is that the importance of any given word increases proportionally to the number of times the word appears in a document; however this is offset by the number of times the word appears in the corpus, or body of documents.

Thus, tf-idf is a fairly efficient way to rank a page’s relevance to a given user query.

Know your corpus

What does this mean for your content? Well, when considering the frequency of a keyword in a document, the best approach from a strategic point of view is to seek to be as natural as possible.

In other words, if you are trying to optimise your page for “PVC paint” – you should consider what the normal frequency of usage is for that word in the pages that rank well for a search for that phrase.

Naturally when it comes to ordering pages in the search engine results pages, the tf-idf weight is not the only variable considered in the algorithm, and aspects such as latent semantic indexing undoubtedly play a pivotal role in determining a document’s relevance to a search term too.

Regrettably, because no SEO has insights into the exact mechanics and specifics of any search engine’s algorithms, the most they can do is to strive to be the least imperfect.

Keyword strategy is still important

This does not negate the importance of having a proper keyword strategy in place – including thorough keyword research and allocation.

Segmentation is a very important part of any keyword strategy. You need to have a clear structure in place for both your human visitors and the search engine bots. Think carefully about your subject matter and build focused, relevant and original content around those areas.

The bottom line is: websites which are clearly structured consistently outrank those which are not – even if they cover similar subject matter.

A few closing points

There is far too much danger of being labelled a spammer if you stuff your content with keywords. Steer clear of black-hat SEO tactics such as hidden text and try to keep things natural.

It’s always best to keep the user in mind when writing content. Natural word usage, solid information architecture and unique content will undoubtedly pay dividends in the end.

Keyword Density – a Myth of the Past

Keyword Density – a Myth of the Past

Keyword Density

Webopedia and Wikipedia defines this as “the measurement in percentage of the number of times that a particular keyword or phrase will appear compared to the total number of words in a page.”

Calculation

*The calculation used to back up this claim

The keyword density of term i (KDi) = the frequency term i occurs in a document (TFi) divided by the total word count of the document (WCi). Thus, the keyword density of the word ‘optimization’ when repeated 4 times in a 100 word document would be:

4/100 = 0.04: giving a keyword density (KDi) of 4%.

*taken from a post in YouMoz blog site by a certain member named Scotie

It is also noted that in calculating keyword density common words such as at, the to are ignored

The Myth

It is said that if you used a high Keyword Density, there is a good chance that the rank of your website will go up.

Now, the Myth of Keyword Density may be true once but plainly speaking what will it do to your website? What will be the reaction of visitors surfing it?

Just imagine if someone repeats a certain word for example “optimization” a lot of times in say, a sentence would not just be abhorred, but it will render the sentence meaningless. We convey a certain word most notably the subject matter by the context and the structure by the words surrounding it. A sentence provides a picture of an idea you wish to convey, thus, most of the time we avoid redundancy. Redundancy though acceptable is most of the time not good to look at or to hear at. It’s like a broken record playing over and over, thus the reader or listener would rather stop reading or hearing it. And Keyword Density is something akin to that. So in the case of websites, your visitor will mostly try to get a new search result or hit the “back button”.

Such a thing not only really looks very bad on the presentation of the website, it destroys the credibility of the site-owner, as well as alienate the visitor. How are they alienated? Not only does your word seem ambiguous, they are plain spam and won’t convey anything informative on the surfer. Thus Keyword Density would more likely scare a potential buyer (if it is in an advertising site), ridding you of should-have-been-profits, or in worse case scenario offend someone if the visitor just wanted to read something informative and useful (if it is a blog reader or researcher).

The Truth

In the book “Winning the Search Engine Wars by SearchEngineNews.com there are a number of ways why the Keyword Density have not that big impact on website results ranking. In fact they further said that it only comprises of more or less 10% on different search engines (Google prefers 5% and Yahoo around 11%),. The book further gives some points as to why the are not good for Search Engine Optimization, namely that Keyword Density:

- Does not take into account as to where such keywords are located (Google’s semantic operator takes into account where the key word are located

- Ignores the concept of Keyword Proximity (the closer your keywords to each other the better chance it have of showing up on searches)

- Their(SearchEngineNews.com) analysis shows that top ranking sites shows different amounts of use of Keyword Density to as much as 50% to as low as 0%.

Such difference in percentage shows a very good sign that Keyword Density is a based on myth rather than reality.

Learning Android and making money is it MYTH or REALITY?

Learning Android and making money is it MYTH or REALITY?

Most successful Android developers have migrated to the Android Market after their success on the App Store, although there are many developers who have directly started to first develop on Android. Android development is easier to jump on to given the fact that it is Java based platform and that developers do not have to purchase an expensive Android or a separate Mac OS and also pay yearly SDK license fees to Apple. The approval process and distribution of Apps via the online Android Market is also more “friendly” than the App Store.

The problems are, veterans won’t share their techniques and many won’t offer help to newbies who want to get in the game and learn how to program Android Apps. Understandably so, as they do not want to create unwanted competition. To make matters worse, there is a shortage of well structured online Android development tutorials and resources that guide you step by step.

Real tutors who stand besides you and make sure you don’t give up due to frustration are almost non-existent. The Myth of Google Ranking Dip

Quite recently, there was mayhem when top ranking websites suddenly lost their rankings, resulting in a considerable dip in traffic. To sum it up, Google SERPS began to display unacceptable websites with broken links, spammy content, and you name it. It’s nothing like what we can accept from Google. Google couldn’t have chosen a better time to bring a bug into their system. Together with the economic meltdown, it was serious concern for webmasters. Well, they admitted that it was a bug in their algorithm that went away unnoticed and causing this huge shift in rankings. However, it’s all sorted now, and things are back to normal. But what is the whole point of this exercise? Some claim that Google have been testing some interesting algorithm updates, and would like to keep them under the wraps. Whatever the truth is, we need to know that there is an interesting concept around this whole exercise. Not all websites did lose rankings. If we take a close look, only the ones that were SE optimized did face penalties. Yes, I would like to call this a temporary penalty; however the reach was by far very immense and extreme that the Engineers at Google had to come up with a Plan B! With PubCon conference just a few days down the road, Google will try to get as much feedback as possible. Now, if anyone asks me “How do I stay away from these penalties?” or “How do I make my website an authentic website?” I wouldn’t honestly have any answer. These are easy questions one could ask, but the answer can be quite complex. Take the case of a government auction website that falls under ecommerce category. Can you make a similar one under a private corporation and still receive enough Google juice to be competing with the parent website? Hmmm… Pretty tough question, right? There is one important aspect that everyone can follow, that will provide them with some success. Have you ever thought that quality traffic and conversions never come for free? What if there were legitimate Search Engine traffic from Google and Yahoo (not by web marketing), if you could pay for it? Yes, it will be pretty awesome, right? The best part is, since you pay for this traffic, you will not be subjected to organic ranking shifts and you can keep getting traffic and customers, even if your website traffic reduces radically from the organic listings. For me, this is the way to move forward. At least, it will help me pay my bills!

The Most Popular Myth About Internet Marketing

Back in the 1980s in the health industry, the belief was that eating a high carbohydrates, low protein, and low fat diet was the healthiest way to go. Most carbohydrates were considered good. And ALL fats are bad.

Unfortunately when the carbohydrate rage was going on, we see an increase in obese people and diabetes. Not too healthy is it? Now, a balanced diet and eating healthy fish fats is accepted as the healthiest way to go. The carbohydrate myth is now debunked. (That is the fact as I see it, anyway)

The same thing goes on with internet marketing and today Im going to help you debunk 3 common myths about internet marketing:

Myth #1
Internet Marketing takes no effort to build!
This is probably the most popular myth about internet marketing. Although internet marketing is in fact the lazy persons way to wealth (legally and morally), the truth is that you still have to put out work in the front end before any real money is made in the backend.

Once you put enough work in the front end to develop a solid internet marketing foundation, you can then relax on the beach while the residual comes pouring in all without lifting a finger!

Myth #2
All you need is a great website with all the best graphics and animations!
You cant just put up a website, tell your brother and sister about it, sit at home and watch TV all day and expect to have the cash magically appear in your bank account. For more information logon to www.split-test-profits.com.You will still have to distribute, develop and market your product or service to people before anything significant will happen.

Many people spend tens of thousands of dollars having their websites developed without even thinking about the market they are selling their product and service to. They have all the flashy and colorful images and cute animations to impress visitors. Unfortunately, without a market, the only person that will look at their website and be impressed with it is themselves.

Its like setting up your own professional practice or retail store and only telling your friends and family. No advertising and no marketing. Unless you have a HUGE family and have thousands of friends to support you, youll be out of business in within months!

Myth #3
The BIG money in Internet Marketing is all hype and bullshi*!
People who believe in this garbage probably believe that the only way to make money is to go to school and earn wages at their cubicle. Although these people are half right, they get what they believe, all of the hype and bullshi*, and none of the BIG money.

When an internet marketing guru promises that his program will make you a millionaire in a month, he is a fraud and thats why internet marketing is sometimes viewed by some people as scams.

But dont take financial lessons from wage earners, its like taking hockey lessons from Michael Jordan; you are learning from people who dont know what theyre doing on those subjects. In our case, broke wage earners giving us their opinions about internet marketing!

If I told you how much a successful internet marketer makes, you wouldnt believe me. Do your investigation and interview some top internet marketers. For more details visit towww. spam-learners-pro.com.Find out his lifestyle and if its a lot better than yours, youd better listen up

In conclusion, remember that an internet marketing business (like any business) requires effort and a marketing strategy in order for you to make the big bucks. Throw out all the myths that are now debunked and embrace the realities of internet marketing.
