Executive Level Skills = Internet Marketing Success

Executive Level Skills = Internet Marketing Success

Many skills typically associated with an executive-level position will prove extremely useful in launching and running an Internet marketing enterprise. Although there are substantial differences between a small, home-based venture and a large corporation, the underlying principles of business management and operation are alike. Clearly, there is a different focus on products and services, as well as client base, but any individual with a solid background in business has the potential to be dramatically successful at Internet marketing.

Here are some typical executive-level skills that are particularly well suited to Internet marketing.

Leadership Skills
Executives are by definition leaders. They are typically responsible for managing people and motivating them to accomplish assigned tasks and to meet assigned objectives. And although an Internet marketing business usually consists only of the owner, the industry itself is constantly looking for new leaders. In the parlance of Internet marketing, a leader is a successful entrepreneur who can assist others in achieving success. For this reason, anyone who embodies the principles of leadership can become an effective Internet marketer who teaches, guides and leads fellow entrepreneurs.

Organizational Skills
Organizational skills fall in two specific categories. First of all, any successful executive must be able to manage a busy daily calendar and a seemingly endless to-do list. In a network marketing business, this skill is even more important, as most entrepreneurs work independently in solitary environments. Being able to manage a myriad of ever-changing tasks is a necessary skill for any Internet marketer.

Many executives are also organization builders. Within Internet marketing the creation of an organization—called a “downline” in the world of Multi-Level Marketing—is an essential component of long-term success. By understanding how people relate to one another and by implementing systems for communications and order processing, a former executive with organizational skills is perfectly suited to developing a functional order to support his brand of network marketing. Within the context of the Internet marketing industry, organizations are composed of like-minded people operating independent businesses that support one another in the pursuit of common goals.

Sales and Marketing Skills
Even though it may seem obvious that sales and marketing skills are part and parcel of the Internet marketing business, many professionals from this discipline consider themselves ill prepared for their new career. Sometimes this is due to a lack of familiarity with the product. Other times, it’s a lack of familiarity with the process itself. Regardless of one’s perception, however, a sales and marketing background is an excellent foundation for Internet marketing success.

Sales and marketing professionals understand how to define and promote powerful messages that attract potential customers to an opportunity. Furthermore, anyone with a sales background understands how to talk to prospects and to advance a sales process. Although the industry jargon may be different, the underlying principles are exactly the same. Anyone with a demonstrated background in successful sales and marketing is eminently qualified to do business on the Internet.

Technology and Computer Skills
Because the Internet is your business, it is helpful to embark on an ongoing education in computers and related technologies. A solid understanding of technical matters will increase your chances of success. However, Internet marketers who lack sufficient experience in this area may choose to outsource the management of some technical functions. Fortunately, there are more cost-effective shortcuts available to the novice today than ever before. Don’t be discouraged if your computer skills aren’t quite up to par. True, an Internet entrepreneur can save time and money if he or she already has these skills, but in the long run, it’s something that can easily be remedied through education and minor investments in outside sources.

Mentoring Skills
An important facet of any executive level position is the development of subordinates into effective managers and employees. Because Internet marketing is to a large extent based on the creation of an expansive organization, the ability to mentor new recruits is essential. Additionally, an effective mentor begins to gain the reputation as an effective leader, which can significantly help his or her Internet enterprise to expand.

Motivational Skills
The motivational skills necessary to succeed in Internet marketing come in two flavors—personal motivation and team motivation. Because an Internet marketer works alone, usually from a home office, a good deal of personal motivation is essential in order to be successful. By being able to manage personal motivation levels on a day-to-day basis, an Internet marketing entrepreneur can stay focused on and committed to the tasks at hand.

Building an Internet marketing empire requires significant motivational skills. It’s true that Internet marketing is simple but it’s not necessarily easy. People often become demoralized and unmotivated when they don’t see instantaneous results. An effective Internet marketer focuses on building a dynamic organization. He or she must be able to provide the motivational support necessary to keep people engaged and successful.

Self-Discipline Skills
Most successful executives get to where they are by summoning a tremendous amount of hard work and self-discipline. It goes without saying that self-discipline is a critical component of any successful Internet marketing business. Because entrepreneurs often work in an isolated environment from their own homes, they must have the discipline to focus on the tasks at hand and to avoid being sidetracked by the many distractions that invariably present themselves. Furthermore, to succeed in Internet marketing requires an ongoing, focused effort. There will always be ups and downs as a business unfolds, and a tremendous amount of self-discipline is necessary to stay focused and committed to long-term success.

When mapping your experience from past endeavors to a new Internet marketing enterprise, it’s important to recognize that, despite the fact that the new environment may be completely alien to you, the underlying principles remain the same. The strengths and skills that served you well in the past will do the same for you in the future.

Karen Newman is the creator of the Experience Mapping concept and book by the same name. Experience Mapping is a process for leveraging past experience into future success. Utilizing online training techniques, Karen assists former executives and workforce veterans transition to profitable careers on the Internet.

Social Media is here to stay. We:

• Twitter, in 140 characters or less, what we are doing.
• Post updates, pictures, movies and more in Facebook.
• Answer questions and make connections in LinkedIn.
• Blog and participate in other social media efforts.

What is the gain by these efforts? An increase in business? More Facebook Fans? Engaging customers?

First, let’s make sure you’re participating in social media. You company should be using some – if not all – of the following tools:

• Facebook. There are currently over 300 million active accounts in Facebook. Individuals create Profiles. Businesses create Pages.

Task: Conduct a search for your competition in Facebook. Are they actively participating? How many Fans do they have?

• Twitter. Keep your customers and clients up-to-date on your business’ daily activities, news, tips, service, help, FAQs, etc.

Task: Start a Twitter account and search for topics of interest to find people to follow. Observe and then participate.

• LinkedIn. If you do not have a LinkedIn account, you need to start one today. Participating in the Answers section helps your status as an authority in your field.

Task: Create an Individual LinkedIn account and a Business account.

• Blog. A must in today’s online efforts. If your company doesn’t have a blog, you need to start one. Now!

Task: Start a blog today.

• YouTube. If YouTube were a search engine, it would be the second largest one behind Google. Your company should create a YouTube Channel for educational, promotional and sales videos.

Task: Search YouTube for videos in your industry.

Second, if your company is already participating in any of the above social media tools (or similar efforts), it’s time to take your company’s participation to the next level. This process is called “social media optimization.”

With Social Media Optimization (SMO), there are similar comparisons to SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Strategic SMO tactics can drive huge amounts of traffic to your website.

Ultimately, there are two primary goals with SMO:

• When searching Google for your company name, brand, products, services, etc., all search results in the Top 10 should be either your company’s website (a result of SEO) or your social media pages/accounts (a result of SMO).

For example, your company’s Facebook Page, Twitter account, LinkedIn account, blog, and website pages should all be listed in the Top 10 search results in Google.

• Customers and clients should be able to find your business in Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc., when searching by targeted keywords, events, brand, company name, etc.

For example, if you are a sheet metal supplier in Indiana, then potential customers should be able to find you through searches on the keyword “Indiana sheet metal suppliers”.

Of course, other goals could be customer service; handling complaints, etc. All-in-all, by participating in this space, you will be engaging with potential customers or with current customers.

So, where do you begin “optimizing” your SMO efforts? How do you take it to the next level and leave the social media 101 class in the dust? It starts with your company name, your brand name, your products and services and, more importantly, it begins with targeted keywords and content.

Remember whether you are in the B2C (Business to Consumer) industry or B2B (Business to Business) industry, all interactions are B2P (business to person). Social media allows your company to build stronger relationships with individuals to help grow business.

In Part II, we’ll get down to more specifics with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, blogging, etc. In the meantime, review your “

Use PR to Reach Your Customers and Other Audiences on an Emotional Level

Use PR to Reach Your Customers and Other Audiences on an Emotional Level

Using public relations is more often about making an emotional appeal to your audience rather than addressing only logic.

The use of hybrid cars, better health care, more medical research, more accountability in government, and safe playgrounds are all issues that have benefited from an emotional appeal using public relations.

Does your product or service hit them right in the heart when it counts? During a natural disaster, for example, can you provide help? Are you a radio station with information, a facility with shelter and food, or a company that offers medical assistance or transportation? (Think of snow days in which people with SUVs race to hospitals, shuttling doctors and nurses to work.)

Whatever you are promoting, you need to explain to your audiences on an emotional level how it benefits them or others they care about. Every good product, every good service is, at its heart, a means by which to help people live, work, or play better. As retailers know, what they sell are benefits, not features.

Travel agents sell adventure, discovery, education, and relaxation (not trips); movie theaters sell escape, romance, and excitement; software makers sell efficiency and convenience; jewelers sell glamour and love; home builders sell the concept of togetherness, shared lives, and community; luxury carmakers sell power and status; restaurants sell taste experiences and camaraderie; and fashion designers sell style, beauty, and sex. If you sell office supplies, you are really selling efficiency. Violins? A lifetime of musical enjoyment. Hybrid cars? Good environmental practices, cost savings, and trendiness.

Has anyone ever bought a top-of-the-line Harley- Davidson motorcycle just for sheer transportation, or a ,000 Rolex just to tell time? People trust brands, and brand building comes about as the result of marketing and public relations, supported by advertising and word of mouth.

A good brand provides buyers with predictable quality and appeals to their emotions. And, in the war for attention, brands win. You can be the top brand, even if it is only within your industry or among your target audiences.

Help people understand clearly on an emotional and rational level the benefits you can provide. Generally, people respond to an appeal because it addresses one or more of the following needs:

- Business/mission: Can you help them meet their goals, make more money, save time, make them look better to their superiors, get a promotion, or beat their competitors?

- Social life/lifestyle: Can you make their lives more enjoyable, provide more leisure time, make them more attractive, help them find romance, make them healthier, make their friends and coworkers envious, or help them further their hobbies or other avocations?

- Beliefs: Can you provide a “place,” physical or virtual, where they can feel comfortable expressing their political opinions, religious beliefs, or other personal feelings? Can you provide information that will help them make up their minds on important issues? Does your organization support a cause in which they strongly believe?

- Reputation: Can you further enhance or protect their professional or personal reputations?

- Ethnic/religious/national identity: Can you help them connect with others who share similar ethnic, racial, religious, geographic, or other traits? Or give them a place where they can experience diversity and meet people who are unlike themselves?

- Philanthropic: Can you help them to help others and also feel good about themselves?

- Fantasy/Escape: Can you help them get away from the mundane and routine, at least temporarily?

If you can address one or more of these needs on an emotional level, you have a much better chance of having people understand what you can provide and respond favorably to it. They will be more willing to take an action you would like them to take.

The Acer Betouch E110 Defines Entry Level Android Features

The Acer Betouch E110 Defines Entry Level Android Features

Who ever said that Android smartphones are only for the elite should see the new Acer beTouch E110 and a host of other Androids out there with less stellar features aimed at wider budget-constrained markets.

Most of them don’t really do justice to the promise of the Android that often gets real in upscale models, but hopefully that should change soon with economies of scale in their production.

The Taiwan computer maker Acer has unveiled at the last Mobile World Congress, the beTouch E110 sporting some features we’ve come to expect from smartphones, Android or not, but at their barest minimum specs to make it at par with entry level smartphones.  There is as yet no pricing information despite a planned March release but going by the feature cost cuts Acer obviously did on it, we can’t expect this to go beyond the €200 price point.

Up Close

If there’s any Android smartphone that defines what it means to be an entry level Android, the beTouch E400 fills the shoes.  You get features with low-end sophistication that often just skims the surface above not being there.  For instance, you get 3G on the dual band UMTS but its high speed HSDPA and HSUPA data connectivity speeds get the low end 3.6 Mbps and 364 Kbps, respectively.  There’s also no WiFi to talk about.

Then its display features is pruned down.  While you get a large 2.8-inch resistive touchscreen with 256k colors that has WVGA or HVGA resolution in other Android smartphones, the neoTouch E110 settles with a mere QVGA resolution usually reserved for screens below 2.2 inches.  There’s not even a gravity accelerometer the market expects from touchscreens.

Imaging is next to get axed.  When you thought you have an average 3.2 megapixel camera, there’s nothing else – no LED flash, no autofocus and no geo tagging which could have been there with its SatNav GPS receiver.  Even video recording is silent on its details. This could be just an oversight in the press kit and we hope to see a more detailed spec sheets anytime soon.

Lastly, but perhaps not that important, the neoTouch E110 gets a modest 414 MHz ST Ericsson PNX6715 processor running an older Android Cupcake OS which nonetheless gets customized with Acer’s own multimedia user interface

Apart for these obvious production cost cutting measures to bring down its price down, the E400 is still a competent quad band GSM for international roaming on the 2G network with class 10 GPRS/EDGE speeds.  You still enjoy USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP for local wired and wireless day connectivity support.   And as mentioned earlier, it has SatNav functionality as well.

Multimedia comes off unscathed from its pruning axe with a Roll Tech Nemo Player that can reproduce the popular media format codecs out there,  You also get speakerphones and a stereo FM radio receiver. You also get Bluetooth A2DP for wireless stereo listening and a 3.5mm audio jack for wired listening on headphones.

The Acer beTouch E110 gets customized Android 1.5 OS with the Acer multimedia UI with web widgets. It has Spinlets for music streaming and comes preloaded with a document viewer for MS Office and PDF files, an Android email client and web browser.  It is also a socially imbued smartphone with the apps for social networking integration with Facebook, Twidroid PRO and Ur-Fooz apps for avatar creation.

Nokia Takes Touchscreen Phones to the Next Level

Nokia Takes Touchscreen Phones to the Next Level

Anyone who likes touchscreen phones should be excited; the most well known brand in the industry has brought out not one, but TWO mobile phones: the sexy Nokia 5800 and the terrifyingly jaw-dropping Nokia N97.

Phase 1 – Nokia’s not-so-brilliant early attempts at a touchscreen phone

Many people seem to be under the incorrect assumption that the Nokia 5800 is the first touchscreen mobile phone Nokia have ever made. It isn’t. The opposite’s true, because there have been several touchy-feely phones released under the Nokia name. Starting with the 7700, we’ve seen a few Nokia mobile phones that are controlled by you pressing directly on the screen. They had a relatively big (for the time) touchscreen in common, but the other feature they had in common, unfortunately, was that they were irredeemably hideous. Just one of those devices, the 6708, displayed a modicum promise, but it was made only for the Chinese market, and so, we never got to play with them in Britain. Unfortunately, that meant that the phones we got were utter, utter garbage.

However, those bad mental images have now been removed by the launch of two new Nokia mobile phones, both of which have touch-sensitive displays, and both of which are much, much sexier…

Nokia 5800 – the magic touch

The first phone on the roster is a completely new member of Nokia’s Xpress range of music mobile phones, the gorgeous Nokia 5800. This phone is very obviously built for music and video; you can tell by the separate XpressMedia touch-key that brings up a list of links to music, videos, the internet, and more. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you use those different media files. Essentially, the Nokia 5800 was created to be a teeny handheld entertainment centre, and as music handsets go, this is just about the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 has also got a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet connection and sat-nav, so that it’s a superb all-round mobile phone, in addition to being a superb media box. Oh, and it’s got a strap to clip on a fake guitar pick. Pointless, but brilliant.

Despite all those features, the Nokia 5800 is very definitely a mid-range device; it isn’t, nor will it ever be, a full-on powerhouse. That role falls to another device…

Nokia N97 – touched by an angel

With the Nokia 5800 all set to deliver touchscreen mobile phones to the mid-range market, that opens up a very big gap at the absolute top-end of the product range; well, there IS a touch-based mobile phone on its way to take its place as the top-end powerhouse: the utterly jaw-dropping Nokia N97. This uses the same Symbian S60 Touch operating system and packages it into the frame of a proper, full-on smartphone. So it has an even more huge, 3.5 inch screen, a slide out QWERTY keypad, and the camera now weighs in at a meaty 5 megapixels. The Nokia N97 is, as should be glaringly obvious, destined to be the new flagship Nseries mobile phone, and it really is as hyper-powered as the rumours had us believe, with HSDPA, sat-nav, digital compass, and integrated Flash, so that you have an internet experience that tops any other mobile phones! Put it like this: the Nokia N97 is awesome. It gleefully relieves itself over other mobile phones and while the Nokia 5800 angles firmly for the mid-range, I reckon that the Nokia N97 will completely DESTROY the competition next year!

Few Choices For Entry Level Website Design Software

Few Choices For Entry Level Website Design Software

I get a lot of questions from people who want to create their own website about what software is the best and easiest to learn. The problem is that many of the entry level website design software that was fairly easy and affordable has matured or disappeared. For the beginner, WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) web design software is much easier to learn. You can use any text editor for raw HTML code and check it with a web browser but that may be too much for a beginner.

A good way to describe WYSIWYG is to think of a word processor like MS Word. You can see exactly how the formatting will appear in the print out on the screen. Same principal on the WYSIWYG web design software. And if you can use MS Word, you can probably use the WYSIWYG web design software. In fact every since Office 2000, MS Word can be saved in the HTML format and be viewed in a web browser. But the code is huge and there are other issues that cause problems so it’s not a good choice for other than a quick and dirty web page.

Part of the problem is that as technology advances, it can become more difficult. A perfect example is Dreamweaver. It started out as an HTML editor that was easy to learn and had a lot of features. It was also very affordable at around -0. Adobe bought the company a few years ago and now it is a monster, has a learning curve that hurts, and costs 9.

FrontPage by Microsoft is another good example. It started off as a quick and easy way to create a website, cost about and was easy to learn. Now it has morphed into Expression, the price is not too bad at 0 but now comes with a learning curve that hurts too since it’s based on CSS. And to say it has issues is being more than kind.

Part of the problems with both of the latest versions of Dreamweaver and Expressions is the new CSS standard. In a nutshell, CSS is used to define the user interface of a website and to separate content from presentation. It can be a big time saver in that all pages can have the same look and feel but different subject matter. Design it once and use it on every page. If you have a 500 page website, that’s a huge advantage.

If you have a small website with every page being different, it’s a pain. If you’re a beginner just learning web design it can increase the complexity by leaps and bounds. Plus, like all great new technology, there are a few gotcha’s with CSS and that adds to the fun (or in most cases problems). Rookies have enough trouble figuring out HTML, let alone advanced CSS techniques.

About the only good choice for a beginner left is a web design software offered for free called Kompozer. It’s loosely based on the original Dreamweaver software and has many of the latest technology features including CSS. It does have some issues, but they are minor for the most part. And it will give the beginner a chance to see if they want to pursue web design for no cost and a few hours of time.

New users can get their feet wet and learn a lot about web design with any WYSIWYG editor. There are good tutorials available and forums for Kompozer to help answer questions. All free for anyone. So the price is definitely right, and you really can’t go wrong if you just want to find out if web design is for you.

Komposer has a huge following and is very popular. There are free templates (pre-made designs for specific subjects and purposes) that can speed up your web design efforts too. To find the latest version of Kompozer, just do a search in Google for the website. You will also see all the support websites and other Komposer resources.

In my humble opinion, Komposer is the best choice for most entry level folks who want to take a shot at designing their first website. If they want to get into the more advanced design techniques, then they can spend the 0s of dollars on the higher end software and go for it.

Go Mobile! Take Your Social Media Marketing Efforts to a Higher Level

Go Mobile! Take Your Social Media Marketing Efforts to a Higher Level

By now, most businesses know how vital social media marketing is for their bottom line. From keeping a pulse on your customers’ experience to branding your company to promoting your products and services, social media marketing allows you to do so much for so little.

Yet, one of the main complaints businesses cite about staying on top of their social media marketing efforts is the time involved to do so. They feel that someone has to be tied to the computer 24/7 to make the effort effective. Fortunately, with today’s mobile applications and technology, social media marketing is being reborn as a mobile experience – a mobile social media marketing initiative, so to speak.

As more people realize and embrace the fact that social media marketing is a real time experience rather than a “wait till I get to my computer” experience, they’re taking advantage of the processing power today’s mobile phones have to offer. So while real time does mean you have to have your computer with you at all times, that computer is now your cell phone, not your laptop or desktop.

Why should businesses focus on mobile social media marketing? Consider this: Right now around the world, 1.1 billion people use the internet, 1.4 billion people watch television, and 2.2 billion people use mobile phones. So if we look at the power of social media going mobile, we quickly see that it has the potential to be more powerful than television watching, simply because it’s interactive and with you at all times.

The Driving Forces

Both technology and people are driving the prevalence of mobile social media. One of the basic human needs since the dawn of time is to connect with others. Additionally, today’s increased processing power, bandwidth, and storage available on mobile devices enables people to have better audio and video capability on their phones. This means people can communicate with their phone more effectively, in a way that goes beyond your basic phone call. And any time technology allows you to communicate and connect better, you have a revolution. From smoke signals to telegraphs to telephones to cell phones to the mobile social media, all are evolutions that cause revolutions.

Other driving factors include globalization and localization. Globalization means you can now connect to the world with your phone. You don’t need a laptop or a television to see news feeds from around the world. At the same time, it’s local. You have access to local events and happenings. With permission, you can see where your friends or employees are at any given time. So your phone can deliver much more than just weather forecasts; you can also know what’s going on around you at all times.

The Case for Mobile Social Media

Because the phone was designed for two-way communication and social media marketing is a two-way dialogue, it’s a natural extension to have cell phone applications for mobile social media – programs for your cell phone that allow you to view and post to various social media sites.

With mobile social media, we’re no longer just sharing information; we’re disseminating knowledge in an organized way, getting feedback, and gaining additional knowledge to help us grow. Between text messages, tweets, blogs, and other social media posts, we’re seeing a shift in how people discover, read, and share news, information, and content. We’re learning information in real time before the evening news or morning paper reports it.

If your company is using social media marketing but has not yet gone mobile with it, you must do so right away. Here’s why:

It expands your internet footprint. You can only monitor and respond to so many Facebook, Twitter, and other social media posts from your desk. However, when you can post from your phone, you can say what’s on your mind whenever you want. As such, you expand your internet footprint and make it easier for prospects to find you. It improves your search engine rankings. Each post you put out on the social media networks points back to you or your company. That increases your listings on search engine results. So where you might have been listed 1,000 times, you’re now listed 3,000 times. It establishes you as the expert. When you can post your information and ideas at any time, it will happen more often, which builds your reputation and credibility. It improves communication and feedback. Many companies are monitoring people’s tweets on Twitter and posts on Facebook. If they notice people who have problems with their company, products, or services, they find out about it right away and make changes in real time. This, in turn, builds positive relationships with customers. It drives a steady stream of prospects to your business. All of the social media sites are becoming business friendly, enabling you to create a business-oriented presence. As they’re becoming more business friendly, they’re going to be very mobile friendly. It’s the next iteration. It fuels content generation. Because you’re micro-blogging and doing Facebook entries, you’re creating content and getting it out there. And since content is king these days, you definitely need a way to keep your information flowing into your prospects’ and customers’ hands. It supports decision-making. You can make better decisions if you’re monitoring what’s going on in social media about your industry, marketplace, etc. And when you get these updates directly to your phone, you don’t have to wait until Monday morning when you get to your office to make a big decision. You can make it and implement it in real time.

Go Mobile Today

In short, the mobile era takes all the benefits of social media marketing and puts them in your hands at all times. It also frees you from your computer so you have more time for other activities.

As the business world evolves, our ways of communicating with prospects and customers must evolve too. Remember, it used to be about distributing content; now it’s about getting people’s attention and engaging with them. It used to be about gaining shelf space; now it’s about gaining mind share. It used to be about mass marketing; now it’s about niche marketing. It used to be about trying to control your customers; now it’s about using influence and reputation to generate desired results. When you incorporate your mobile device as a key way to achieve your business objectives and attain these benefits, you open your company up to a whole new world of sales and profits.

Google Dominates Enterprise Level Search

Each month we tell you about reports that have come out which talk about the fact that Google is still leading in search. It pains me to write these sometimes because there is nothing to make anyone stand up and take notice. I think we all get it that Google is the dominant search engine across the board.

Where it can get interesting, though, is just how dominant Google is in search for a major business segment online: the enterprise. The latest findings from iCrossing have been reported by MediaPost. To be fair, the author of the article I am referring to is an iCrossing employee. In this instance, though, there is less concern for results being “skewed” since there is no real advantage to iCrossing in reporting these findings (other than some market exposure, of course).

So what’s the difference between Google in general and Google with regard to enterprise search? Even more dominance. Sorry all of you bing and Yahoo folks who would like to see something else. The reality is that when people are searching for business information Google is clearly the search engine of choice. I know it is for me personally. I’ll let some pictures tell the story.

With Google having 80% of the enterprise search market it becomes a bit ridiculous to consider that bing is gaining on Yahoo and AOL lost 25% of its enterprise search traffic according to the study. It feels nearly irrelevant but considering the overall size of the market can you afford to ignore the 16% of the enterprise search market that bing and Yahoo currently hold?

So rather than ponder the “Why is this so?” questions let’s consider another angle. As marketers, whether you are working with enterprise accounts or not, what percentage of your efforts in search are focused on Google? Is it 80%? Is it higher? How do you really view bing and Yahoo as search options and how much money and effort do you direct to these engines?

Lastly, do you really see these numbers ever changing? If so, how and what might be the cause?
