Keyword Research – Or – Make A Website Like Successful People
Keyword Research – Or – Make A Website Like Successful People
Most people will make a website and be happy that they reached a couple of thousand viewers over the course of ten years. But wouldn’t it be much more rewarding to make a website and actually reach more people? Of course it would, and that is what we’re going to learn in this article.
You see, there is this misconception that if you make it, “they” will come. While this may work for a baseball diamond that is anything but true when you make a website.
Let me ask you a question. How did you find this article on how to make a website? The common answer will be, you preformed a search. But you never would have found it if I hadn’t focused on one subject. While this may sound cryptic, it really isn’t. To simplify things, let’s run through a basic example.
And while I have already covered the steps involved in planning and researching a website in other articles, this will give you enough information to get you started in the right direction.
Plan To Make A Website
Before you make a website, you will want to pick out a topic. By planning on what your website is going to be about, you will be taking the guess work out of the coming steps.
The easiest way to do this is sit down and brainstorm. Write down all of your interests. Pick the one out that interests you the most. This can be anything as long as you’re going to be able to write about it for more than a few weeks. One of the keys to success when you make a website is your ability to stick with it and stay on topic.
For illustrative purposes, let’s say that you want to make a website about the Romans. Good, now we have a starting point.
One thing that will benefit you immensely when you make a website is knowing what kind of competition you will face. It doesn’t matter why you make the site, either for fun or profit, you will face competition to some degree or another.
To do this, go to the search engine of your choice and perform an exact search. In Google this can be done by placing quotation marks around your words. If you only have a single keyword the quotation marks aren’t necessary. The number of sites that come up will be your direct competition. For ease lets say 500 people have websites about the Romans.
Before we begin making a website on the subject, we need to know the search volume, or the amount of people that look for the keyword each month. This can be done in Google’s AdWords Keyword Tool if you’ve used their search engine. It is important to get the data from whichever SE you’ve used. Again make sure it is the exact number of searches. As an example, we’ll say 100 people are interested in our subject.
We now divide the number of websites by the search volume. 500/100 if you go with our numbers. This shows us that there are 5 websites for every 1 searcher. Your numbers will vary, but just remember, the more websites there are for each potential visitor the harder it will be to rank.
Now that we have our primary keyword, we can begin to make a website, one that has a chance of actually getting viewed.
Navigation – The Important Keyword Component
This is one part people often overlook when they make a website, still, it is a very important component.
Think of your website as a series of tiers. The first tier is the homepage. This gives your viewers and the search engines a starting point. Below your first tier is your second tier content. Here you will get more specific.
Building off of our example, we will say the homepage is focused on “Romans”, and is a doorway into the more specific second tier like “Roman History”, “Roman Emperors”, etc. From here we would drill down to tier three where the bulk of your content will be located.
At tier three you will be focusing on the content. Under “Roman Emperors” you introduce what the page is about. You would also have a list of the many different rulers of Rome. And from there you would link to a page about each of them. If you make a website like this, you will be encouraging a natural transition from one tier to the next. People will be more likely to read further, and spiders will crawl your site deeper and more thoroughly.
While tiers actually belong to the navigational stage when you make a website, they are also effected by your keyword research. How? Simple, keyword research is just as import at this stage as when you picked a theme for your website. By researching what people look for when they search for a specific topic, you are giving them more of an opportunity to find it.
Each page, starting with the homepage to your very deepest tier, should be researched and planned. Following the steps I have already outlined earlier in this article, you are helping to ensure your success. This can be a very time consuming process and to some extent frustrating when you are having trouble finding keywords. These two reasons are probably why many people (beginners to experts) have invested in software to expedite and simplify the procedure of making a successful website.
If you’re one of these people that doesn’t have the time and patience to play guessing games I have written an article for beginners and advanced users alike. Click here to get started and take your skills to the next level. And while you’re there, don’t forget to download your free report and make a website today!

A few tips you can apply to keyword research
A few tips you can apply to keyword research
The average keyword research document, providing it’s thorough, can take upwards of days to compile. It’s important when performing keyword research to make sure that you cover every conceivable variation of the main terms that can potentially drive traffic to your website. The keyword research stage is probably the most crucial element in any SEO Campaign and the one stage that you need to spend that extra bit of time on to make sure you get it right.
The Google Keyword Tool is the most popular keyword research tool on the market. This is a tool provided by Google that gives exact, phrase and broad match keyword volumes for any term you type in to the box provided. When using this tool it’s advisable always to select “exact” match, this will return exact keyword volumes for the terms you have entered and is the preferred method of collecting data for SEO professionals. It’s also important to remember that the values provided by Google are merely estimates and that it also accounts for the entire search volume around a particular term rather than the amount of traffic you could potentially receive from a first placed listing.
Type some of what you believe to be your main target keywords into the tool, order them by local search volume and analyse the data returned. It’s important when performing keyword research to keep a mind on exactly the terms that will convert when they drive traffic to your website. Gaining additional traffic is one thing but always keep in mind the intent of the searcher whenever they perform a query – keeping in this mindset will ensure that you acquire more revenue for your site, rather than just more traffic. Another thing to keep in mind is that the plural and singular values returned by Google can often be completely different – always make sure and get both singular and plural volumes for each of your main target terms.

A Quick Affiliate Tutorial in Effective Online Keyword Research
A Quick Affiliate Tutorial in Effective Online Keyword Research
Online keyword research is vital to the success of your affiliate campaigns. Keywords are the “language” of your niche- the words people use when talking about the subject, and which they will use when searching for information on your niche. Here’s a dead easy affiliate tutorial to help you do this right the first time.
You will need:
Firefox browser from Mozilla
a free tool called SEO for Firefox
Google’s free keyword tool
1. Start with the root terms
Start with the commonly used terms in your niche. These will be very broad, with very little specific content, phrases like “make money“, “dog training”, “cat care”, or “home repairs”. You are now about to find more targeted keywords and phrases based on these root terms.
2. Use Google to find long tail variations
Your free Google keyword tool will spit out long lists of long-tail keywords and keyphrases of two or more words in length. These are more targeted phrases used by smaller numbers of people when searching on Google. So, based on our earlier examples, you may come up with phrases like “make money while in college”, “dog training for older dogs”, “caring for sick cats”, or “repair your own toilet”.
3. Spot your target range
Look at the column marked “Global Monthly Searches”. Double click to put them in numerical order, and scan down to the 1000 to 2400 monthly search range. This is the range you will be targeting for your affiliate campaigns. They have enough monthly search volume to be worth the work, but not so much you will be unable to compete with marketers with larger budgets.
Keywords are the “language” of your niche- the words people use when talking about the subject, and which they will use when searching for information on your niche.
4. Use Firefox to gauge the competition
You’re not finished yet, though! Here is a great online keyword research tool.
SEO for Firefox is a free add-on for your Firefox browser which instantly measures the Google Page Rank of every site on the web, and displays the number right on the Google search engine results page.
Run each of your list of long-tail terms through this additional process. An average rank in the first 10 SERPS results of 3.0 or less is pretty good. More than 3.0 may be too difficult to compete against. Do out an Excel sheet to record and track your results.
5. Where to use them
You should now have a nice list of keywords and phrases with monthly searches of 1000 to 2400, and with competition of 3.0 or less, give or take. What do you do with them? Everything! Feature them in your blog and site content, your articles and your PPC ads. They are the heart of your successful affiliate campaign.
Bonus tip: One simple way to get an instant trove of relevant keywords is right there on your sales page. Plug in the URL of your affiliate sales page into Google’s keyword tool, and download the list of results. If the sales page is of any length at all, you could have a couple hundred within seconds. Test each of these for PR competition and monthly volume. That’s it: a quick, no-brainer affiliate tutorial in online keyword research.
Affiliate Marketing and Disruptive Innovation
Disruptive Innovation is a term that is attributed to Clayton M. Christensen in 2003. Basically, it refers to what occurs when some type of significant innovation (new technology, business practice, etc.) is developed that dramatically affects an existing market or industry. Often a significantly disruptive innovation will eventually force an existing industry to either adapt or become obsolete. Some of the most obvious instances of disruptive innovation involve a new technology completely turning a pre-existing industry upside down. A couple of historical examples would be the invention of the printing press which disrupted the traditional ‘industry’ of hand copying books and the invention of the automobile which disrupted the established horse and buggy industry. More recently, we have the development of digital photography and the traditional film photography industry, digital music and the recording industry, wireless cell phones and the legacy phone companies. You get the idea.
The rise of the internet and digital media in general created massive disruption of numerous legacy markets and industries. In fact, affiliate marketing could easily be viewed as a disruptive innovation affecting the traditional advertising and marketing industry. The interesting thing about disruptive innovations is that the most successful ones (that eventually replace a pre-existing industry) then become targets for future disruption themselves. Put another way, yesterday’s disruptive innovation is tomorrow’s legacy industry that is destined to be disrupted by some other innovation.
Historically, major disruptive innovation seems to have taken place over longer periods of time. The automobile didn’t replace the horse drawn carriage overnight (it took the additional development of mass production to really speed it along). But, much of the innovation we see happening today happens more quickly. In the purely digital realm, we see a company like Twitter rise seemingly overnight and change the landscape for the social media and search marketing industries.
The marketing industry has been in almost a constant state of disruption since the dawning of the internet. Since one of the foundations of the industry is based on how consumers communicate and access information, any new development that changes consumer behavior in these areas becomes a new challenge and opportunity for marketers.
As online marketers, we have leveraged new technology and helped to drive the massive disruption of traditional advertising. In fact, many online and affiliate marketers seem to thrive by closely following the latest disruptions. Far from the old-school advertising execs who initially resisted the online medium because it was new and different (and therefore a threat to the status quo), today’s successful affiliate marketer is quick to take advantage of the latest developments. The rise of social media wasn’t viewed as a threat to our current business model, but rather a new opportunity to grow and become even more profitable.
This strategy of looking for ways to leverage new technology and consumer communication trends has served the online marketing industry well in an environment where change happens incredibly quickly. The fact that we have basically grown up with constant change will likely serve us well in the years ahead as our industry continues to evolve to meet consumers wherever they go (mobile anyone?).
If there is any lesson for affiliate and online marketers from looking back at other examples of disruptive innovation, it is that if you get too comfortable with the way things are today and aren’t ready to adjust your thinking and tactics to accommodate surprising changes, you risk being left in the dust. If you didn’t adjust your search marketing programs the next time Google changes its algorithms or tweak your email initiatives to accommodate new filtering technology, you would end up as becoming as obsolete as a VCR. The better you are at actively identifying new disruptions as they emerge, the more successful you are likely to be in affiliate marketing.

Savvy Competitor Analysis and Keyword Research Your Competitors Aren’t Doing
Savvy Competitor Analysis and Keyword Research Your Competitors Aren’t Doing
First, letâs tackle competitive analysis. As an entrepreneur, you’re no doubt familiar with some of the conventional wisdom about how to handle competitors. Do your research. Check public records and disclosures about big name firms in your industry. Assess your goals, branding plans, and future efforts in the context of the presumptive goals of your industry rivals. Understand why customers choose competitors over your firm — both why they like your rivals and why they refuse to work with you.
Beyond this broad and relatively intuitive theorizing about competitor analysis, however, you may not be that up-to-speed on the latest tactics.
First of all, purchase stock in rival companies. This may seem counterintuitive â why support a rival firm at all? – but great benefits await. Stockholders get regular reports on firmsâ finances and long-term strategies. You can glean a lot about your rivalsâ positioning — and see what other stockholders are saying — all without wasting dozens of hours on frustrating Internet research.
Second, learn from your competitorsâ competitors. You may have heard the expression âmy enemyâs enemy is my friend.â This tactic makes use of a similar concept. You donât have to do all the âoppoâ research yourself — you can trade ideas, data, and strategies with mutual competitors. Learn your rivalsâ weaknesses as well their strengths. The devil you know is almost always easier to handle than the devil you donât.
Stay up-to-date on whatâs happening in your industry. Go to conferences. Donât delegate the responsibility of watching your rivals to a third party. Attend trade shows. Use Google, the Internet, and public archives to investigate competitors. Donât let your guard down — even if you are an established âbig dogâ in your field. Be knowledgeable and networked, and you will be less likely to be surprised.
Finally, remember that the competitive landscape is always fluid. Your biggest competitor next quarter may be an unknown today. Given the advent of global business markets and the mixing of industries that globalization has created, there is almost no way to anticipate what âthe next big thingâ will be in your industry. But simply by maintaining a flexible posture, you will be more agile when responding to new challenges.
In terms of keyword research strategies that defy the conventional wisdom, your best bet in general is to try out a variety of tactics in a microcosm and then apply the ones that work in larger âmarketing laboratories.â
Employ abbreviations, acronyms, and shortcuts — real shortcuts that people searching on Google would actually use. Keep things simple: âpersonal computerâ might be abbreviated as âPCâ; the month of âJanuaryâ may be abbreviated as âJanâ; and so on.
Zero in on better keywords. For instance, if you are marketing a Phoenix real estate site, you might want to have a keyword for âPhoenix AZ real estate,â since many people who search Google will abbreviate Arizona as âAZ.â
Anticipate typos, malapropisms, and misspellings when coming up with your keywords. People may type too many or too few letters in a word, omit key vowels, or switch letter orders around by accident. There is a great site — searchspell.com — that can help you guess the most popular misspellings and typos for particular words and phrases.
Throw geographical references into your keywords. The more specific your geo targeting, the easier time you will have not only at attracting local business but also at ranking high in the general âlotteryâ for Google rankings. For instance, if you are advertising a Connecticut law firm, donât just create keywords based on permutations of âConnecticut,â âCT,â âlaw,â âlawyer,â etc. Throw in names of nearby towns that your office would service, such as âSimsbury,â âAvon,â âFarmington,â âBloomfield,â and âHartford.â You will have an easier time ranking, and your resultant visitors will feel you are speaking and relating more specifically to them.
To increase the effectiveness and conversion of your keywords, think about the action your demographic needs to take and titrate your keywords down to specific action-oriented phrases. âLos Angeles mortgagesâ has some measure of geographic filtering; âLos Angeles mortgage brokersâ is better and more specific. But âLos Angeles home mortgage applicationâ is better by leaps and bounds because the phrase carries a significant amount of implied intent. Of course fewer people will search using that term, but the ones that do are further along in the cycle, closer to closing a deal, and ready to take action.
We at Beanstalk use AdGooroo’s keyword tool and competitor analysis services to get an even more in-depth look at what our competitors are doing online to make sure we’re not missing anything. In this whole article â it’s probably the more recommended of the tools.
Finally, consider these all-purpose tips when piecing together your keywords and key phrases: liberally employ descriptive adjectives ( âtopâ and âfreeâ); vary up your verbs; use both singular and plural permutations of critical words; rank for domain names if and when appropriate; and research what your closest industry rivals do and plot out your marketing strategy at cross purposes, as well as on a parallel track, and see what true independent, even contrarian thinking can do for an enterprise. The bottom line, of course, is persistence and determination. You can get help, like this article, to work smarter. Working harder, of course, is up to you.

From speaking at conference and writing SEM books to optimizing client sites and raising money through their charity SEO efforts Beanstalk works to help their clients, help DIYers and in the end, try to help the world â just a little bit.

The Ferrari Of Keywords Research Is Keyword Elite
The Ferrari Of Keywords Research Is Keyword Elite
In order to find the right tools to research high paying AdSense keywords, it is important to know what information you want o know about keywords. It would be just great if there were a tool that told everyone exactly what Google pays for each keyword, but that doesn’t exist and anyone who creates such a tool is certain to be barred from Google forever because it is a clear violation of the terms and conditions of having an AdSense account to reveal any income information to anyone else.
You can use Adwords keyword tool to select keywords and you’ll get some information. But there are many, many great tools out there that will help you select the right keywords for your AdSense campaign focus. Look for only those tools that provide information about the number of searches performed, the number of competing websites and a “guestimate” of profitability.
Keyword elite will do all of that and a lot more. Keyword elite allows you to create keyword lists with the most profitable keywords and thousands of variations. Keyword elite let’s you spy on your competitors adword campaigns so you can do better.
With keyword Elite you can find the highest paying keywords for adsense publishing.
WordTracker is probably the best known and most popular tool for finding keywords that are profitable and that have little competition. However, it does entail a subscription fee so that you want to subscribe for the period that you will actually use the tool and no longer. You can subscribe for a day, a week or a month, or indefinitely. Only those people who use the tool frequently should consider an indefinite subscription due to the high cost.
NicheBot is a free tool that is really handy for this. Unlike WordTracker which costs quite a bit for a subscription, this tool has just about everything you need or want and it is absolutely free to use. It is web-based and perhaps not quite as fast as WordTracker, but it works just great. And it is being upgraded all the time with new features.
KeyWordDiscovery offers a free trial period, after which there is a subscription fee. However, it is a reasonably popular tool for keyword researching.
Overture Keyword Research Tool is another free tool that you can use. It gives you the information you need but the output is based on Overture search engines and you would do much better to get Google search engine results.
To find the right tools for you, try several of the free tools you’ll find with a simple Internet search. You may find one that meets your needs very well. If not, then it is time to begin using some of the subscription services.

Elements of search engine keyword research
Elements of search engine keyword research
There are a quite few techniques to find what keywords are more relevant to your domain. Once the hunt for the right keyword is all over, you are good to go. You have the ability to create unique keyword centered content that attracts a lot of traffic resulting in ranking on search engines. You are after all speaking the language of the visitor and giving solutions to their needs on the web.
Here are four important elements of search engine Keyword Research
1. Research tools
Google’s keyword tool is the one that is commonly used for keyword research. Aaron Wall’s SEO book Keyword suggestion Tool is also widely used. Both these tools are free and they do educate the user with a lot of useful metrics. Paid tools still serve to be a superior choice. They provide the user with much more information.
2. Target has to be specific
When talking about keyword, it is not a single word that has to be focused on. It actually is a phrase most of the time. It is very important that the keyword phrase in your content matches the exact target. Interchange of words matter to a great extent. It is not a good idea to choose your own words that match the meaning of the keyword. Hence, target should be specific.
3. Keyword strength
It is very important that you choose the right keywords in terms of numbers. The tools only provide the number of searches being made on that particular keyword. But only you know your target audience better and where you stand as a company. So, be realistic and have an attainable target in mind especially when your domain is very competitive. Otherwise, the time spent and the effort taken is all a mere waste.
4. High Relevancy
Usage of appropriate keywords should be given high priority. Make sure that you use keywords that are highly relevant to your business. It is not all about attracting visitors alone, but visitors getting converted into customers and regular users of the website.
Internet marketing India has changed over the years. An SEO company India can offer the exact needs for a business in this growing competitive world.

How to Effectively Do Keyword Research
How to Effectively Do Keyword Research
What are you looking for?
The first step that you need to take in effective keyword research is to know what you are looking for. It seems like an obvious thing to do, but there are so many ways you can be distracted when doing research. Make sure you identify the topics you want and list any similar words that might relate to your target subject.
Sometimes it also helps to re-word your topic into a question. Write down any questions that come to mind when you think about your topic. This will help you pull out other words and phrases that you might have missed in your original research.
Search Engines
Search engines are an extremely useful tool when making lists of useful and effective keywords. Enter your selected keywords and do a search. You will get pages and pages of results within a matter of seconds. After a list of possible pages has been populated, you should click on the related links for what you are looking for. Browse the sites for keywords and topics that you might have missed.
Always remember that you should use more than one search engine to get the maximum results possible.
The Printed Word
Do not forget about dictionaries, encyclopedias and other printed material. The internet is a very useful tool, but sometimes our targeted topic can be lost under mountains and mountains of random internet links that lead nowhere. A short trip to your local library will probably do you a world of good in effective keyword research.
Magazines and other printed social media can also be used to make a functional list of keywords available to you.
Evaluate
When you feel that you have a pretty solid list of related keywords, make sure you remember to actually evaluate them to ensure they point where you want them to. Making sure that your list of keywords is credible and accurate is a very important step that most people will skip. Your list of words will do you little good if they do not point you or your visitors in the right direction.
Make sure that your words do not conflict with each other and try to condense the list down to the most important entries. It might also be helpful to rearrange your group of words into a numbered list. Be sure to put the most relevant words at the top and continue working your way down the list.
Good Luck!
Now that you understand the process of gathering effective and relevant keywords, you will be able to update any site or material in order to target a specific list of entries. This will ensure that only people who are interested in a certain topic will be directed to your subject matter. This is particularly useful when you are selling a product or service. You definitely want people interested in what you are selling to be directed to your services. For more information on keyword research, please visit my blog at http://www.annettapowellonline.com. Cut Down on Keyword Research with KeywordSpy
Cut Down on Keyword Research with KeywordSpy
Locating the correct keywords for your different projects is one of the most tedious chores that you can do in Internet marketing. The purpose of a keyword is to ensure that your search engine optimization campaigns stay on track. This is the way that you will have people locate your website. If you do not have much free time and are too busy, locating the right keyword can be a difficult as well as time consuming task. Along comes KeywordSpy, a program which was developed in order to allow you to reduce your research for good keywords by minimally half (and probably a more significant percentage). This particular software is delimited by a great deal of hype. Does this program really live up to its reputation? So we gave KeywordSpy a try, to see what it was about. We will share with you what we learned now.
Â
One way KeywordSpy does research for you is by tracking your competitors’ ads. You can simply locate an ad that interests you and tell KeywordSpy to watch it. The listings are updated daily as the software automatically traces the ads and keeps you informed. You can use the information it collects to generate a report on how long a particular ad ran and when it was running. You can find out from the software when the ad first ran. You’ll also find out the last time that the program observed the ad.
Â
This is very helpful to know, because it tells you whether or not the ad was profitable. You can tell how successful an ad is by how long it runs. If you model your own ads after these, you should have some nice success as well. A person’s keyword choices will help or destroy his or her marketing endeavors, you know as an online marketeer yourself. With KeywordSpy you can see how the keywords you’ve decided on are ranked in the search engines, and how successful they are for other businesses.
Â
It can show you how effective a keyword is based on the page rankings of other sites that use the same keyword. If you find out that the keywords you have selected are associated with poorly performing sites, you will know that you need to change it.
Â
The KeywordSpy program has an automatic software update that runs regularly on its own, so it is always up to date. Getting the trending numbers from the past will never be a worry again for you. The updates are run every single day, so you are ensured that the numbers you are getting were live in the past day. Things that are hot currently will likely not be so beloved tomorrow, making the daily updates essential for good online marketing. Or, a particular keyword’s utility could go off of the charts tomorrow! Sadly, the world of internet marketing is not predictable at all. Allowing you to stay current, this program helps you significantly.
Â
Just like with any similar software packages, the creators of KeywordSpy want you to believe that it’s the best tool available to help internet marketers. Honestly, you will be required to spend a little time doing some work and analysis on your own. However, don’t think this makes the software worthless. KeywordSpy is capable of cutting down the time you spend on keyword research considerably. We’d highly recommend it to anyone who is developing more than one product at a time or who might be only a part time internet marketer. The sale price for this software is very fair, considering the amount of time you’re able to save on research alone.
