Keyword Research Is a WASTE! Learn How to Rank on PAGE 1 With Content That Converts Like Crazy

Keyword Research Is a WASTE! Learn How to Rank on PAGE 1 With Content That Converts Like Crazy

Who else is wasting tons of time doing keyword research? Are you trying all sorts of keyword tools… and reading what all of the “gurus” have to say about how picking the right keywords is the KEY to making a fortune online?

I’ve got a NEWS-FLASH… :-)

They’re wrong! (And by and large… they KNOW it, too) The truth is, while keywords are obviously a pretty critical component to targeting the right sort of visitor, the research tools out there are NOT going to make you rich… or even close. As a matter of fact, the ONLY people getting rich from keyword research tools are the folks out there selling them as an affiliate. (believe me, it’s true… and MOST successful marketers, behind the scenes, will tell you they USE the tools they promote far less than you believe)

Okay… but if keyword research is a WASTE… how do you create content that ranks on page 1 of the search engines, without knowing which phrases to target?

The truth is, and I’m going to admit this to you as someone who PAYS for, and promotes many tools myself… even though I rarely use them anymore. Instead, I use one very specific FREE tool, in a very specific way, and it works like magic in EVERY niche… bar none.

The tool is the totally FREE questions and answers engine that Wordtracker shares freely online. (as in… you just have to search for it, and it’s there)

You type in your niche, or demographic, or topic, or whatever you think is most relevant to your business.

It spits back a LONG list of questions that people in YOUR niche are searching to find answers to… in perfect, long tail, verbatim fashion.

Your job, if you want SUPER high, first page rankings on those EXACT questions? Just put the questions in a post title, and answer the question in the content of your post. I actually use a very specific template in my business to do this a wee bit better… so it looks a bit more natural (a community forum blog template) and invariably… in LESS than 90 days, I’m getting tons of hyper targeted, very qualified traffic as a result.

And remember…

Because you are actually addressing, verbatim… their questions, and answering those questions for them, you are establishing INSTANT authority, expertise and credibility to boot. These visitors STAY on the sites that I use this approach for 10X longer than normal blogs, too… and are MUCH more likely to convert into paying customers, or clients as well! (tell your favorite GURU to try it… it works..:-)

Keyword Research is the First Step for SEO

Keyword Research is the First Step for SEO

Getting started in SEO can seem sometimes like a daunting task, and if you have a new site or page that you want to quickly rank for Google searches then you will find you have a lot of work cut out for you. The question then is where do you start? Fortunately the answer is fairly straightforward and there is one highly logical starting place, which is keyword research. This should come even before you start creating the pages and should in fact help to direct the course of your website development and particularly content creation. Essentially here you can consider SEO as a ‘weapon’ of sorts, whereas the keyword research provides the target – and any weapon is far more effective when designed for a specific target.

By target is meant that it’s those keywords that you will want your page to rank for. It’s not really possible to rank highly for everything, so it’s necessary for you to choose a single phrase to bring up your site in the results. This way when someone types in ‘best pens’ they’ll come up with your online pen store instead of someone else’s and will be likely to use your service as a result. Alternatively they might type in ‘how to lizards swim’ and find your article where they’ll be likely to click adverts and affiliate links.

In order to get your site to rank for keywords or key phrases you need to then include all of those keywords in every aspect of your website. That means they need to be laced in with the text, included in the file names of your various files, even included in the links you have pointing to your page from elsewhere. As such you need to know what your keyphrases are before you start building the website. Inserting them after you’ve written the content will look forced and awkward, and changing file names after you’ve already uploaded pages will ruin any links you already have pointing there when you do.

To decide on your key phrases you need to use keyphrase research as well, in order to find out which keyphrases are regularly searched for without being overcrowded by other sites ranking for the same terms. This will mean that you relatively quickly get to see your site in the search results, and that people will type in that term to search for it. Bearing in mind that you will be building your site around the keyphrase it’s very important that you first ensure that you’ve chosen your keyphrase well or it will all prove to be a waste of time and energy. In fact searching for your keyword and seeing what people are searching for can sometimes even help you to decide on which articles to write to begin with. There is nothing wrong with doing it this way around, you will simply be providing your visitors and readers with what you know they want. In other words then, keyword research should always be the first step for SEO and even in planning and writing articles.

Is Keyword Research Important – How To Find GREAT Titles for Your Articles (For FREE!)

Is Keyword Research Important – How To Find GREAT Titles for Your Articles (For FREE!)

How important is keyword research for writing articles? Can GREAT keywords save or improve a BAD article? Which tools are the best? Can you find killer keywords for FREE? Any of these questions sound familiar? If you are anything like I once was when I first got started writing articles, you probably are spending a TON of time doing keyword research, OR, even more likely….reading the blog posts and ebooks of “gurus” who suggest you do.

The truth?

While picking great keywords ARE a critical component to creating targeted content, the simple truth is, keyword research is one of the MOST over-rated exercises and investments of time, effort and income that keeps MOST newbies and beginners from getting ahead.

Remember….the affiliate market for promoting keyword tools is HUGE. I use them….and recommend them myself, as an affiliate, so I understand the value, and the income you can make from recommending your readers buy them as well.

There IS a better way, actually…… to find GREAT keywords for your content, and to get them for FREE

Use the free “questions and answers” engine that Wordtracker offers at no cost. It’s an optimal way to write GREAT titles, that are naturally optimized for sensational SEO, simply because they are VERBATIM, the actual questions that people in your niche are typing in……to find answers they need. In essence, there is no better data mining tool than this, in my view, because you can simultaneously demonstrate your expertise (by answering the questions with your articles) AND get the natural competitive advantage that targeted, long tail keywords will give you from a SEO standpoint. (because you are literally using the exact queries in your content)

The bottom line?

I’ve written thousands of articles that have generated millions of readers, and I can tell you, the ABOVE approach works great…..both on the article directories and search results, as well as your own blogs, websites and niche networks as well! (and for free to boot!)

Keyword Basics: How Do You Do Long-Tail Keyword Research For Online Article Marketing

Keyword Basics: How Do You Do Long-Tail Keyword Research For Online Article Marketing

Long-tail keyphrases are generally 3 & 8 words long, much longer than the standard main keywords that you could target for your website.

Long-tail phrases have fewer people looking for them, in addition they also have fewer web pages competing for them, making it more straight forward for you to get ranked for those words using articles that are produced with the phrase in mind.

The longer phrases are also often more specific than the more popular main phrases. For example:

Main phrase: Chocolate recipes

Long-tail phrase: How to make a chocolate souffle

Owing to the fact that they’re so much more specific, these longer phrases make great online article topics. In fact, many times (not everytime though), the phrase works ideally as a title just as it stands.

The major contrast between main keywords and long-tail keywords is the following:

-You want your *website* to have a high ranking for its main words, and

-You need your *articles* to have a high ranking for your long-tail words.

In this article youshould learn how to research long-tail keyword terms.

Go to Google’s useful and free keyword tool here:

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Often to just input the phrase ‘how to’ immediately followed by one of your major keywords, then that’s a great start at obtaining long-tail phrases. Here is an example: ‘How to make a chocolate souffle’ could easily be the primary words that could be entered into Google’s keyword tool.

The tool’s results will produce several connected phrases, that can provide you with even more ideas for possible bigger phrases to make use of in your article submissions. The search results will tell you just how many searches are done for that very phrase every month. That’s the “demand” for the keyword term.

Have a look for a longer relevant phrase that has acheived a large number of searches, this can then be crafted into an article topic, that is still relevant to your topic.

Next, you must examine the “supply” for the term—in other words this is the number of competing web pages. Once you have picked a phrase, go to Google.com and input this phrase in quotation marks into Google.com’s search box.

Then you will get the number of competing web pages itemized below the search box. It should have something like “About 44,000 results” (or some other number). This number shows just how many web pages are battling for this long-tail term.

You’re looking for longer phrases that have higher traffic reward (high demand) that can be contrasted with a relatively low competition factor (low supply). The key thing to understand about these longer phrases is that when you combine them with the lower competition, they’re more straightforward to achieve a higher article ranking for them.

You really must keep well clear of phrases that are only acheiving low demand (not many people looking for them) and higher competition (loads of web pages already fulfilling that demand).

Your Assignment:

Utilising Google’s excellent and free keyword tools, look into several possible long-tail keyword terms that you may use within your article submissions. Once you start doing the searches using the keyword tool, you will get an avalanche of brand new ideas for many new phrases—that is one of the bonuses of doing keyword research!

Uneducated Internet Marketers – Intermediate Keyword Research

Uneducated Internet Marketers – Intermediate Keyword Research

As we move a little deeper into the all-important topic of keyword research, remember to get in the habit of revisiting your Top Ten list. If you don’t know what you’re Top Ten are, these are the Top Ten reasons for not ever quitting! They are different for each of us, so be honest and true to yourself. Money is an obvious one, but what about your children, grandchildren, the need for freedom and independence in your day to day life? Maybe you just want a really cool boat, or that custom chopper with the chrome and the ground effects in dark green. Pretty specific, huh? I just saw that bike not long ago and the image hasn’t left my head. Anyway, let’s get to it.

One of the first things we tell people before they start pumping cash into their campaigns is to do your keyword research and have a plan. Moving ahead too quickly without direction fast becomes a very expensive lesson in due diligence. Believe me, you will know when the time is right to strike at a market opportunity because you will be making intelligent decisions based on real data, not emotional reaction to the first thing that pops in your head. In a recent article we spoke about starting with keyword phrases and the first steps in researching your chosen phrases for your market. One of the keyword seminars we attended focused a great deal on a very important problem – internet search engines are saturated with internet marketers all trying to crawl quickly up the ranks on Google, Yahoo, MSN, Bing, and so on. You more than likely figured this out pretty quickly when you typed in “internet marketing” or “start up your own online business” into the search bar. Literally millions of competing sites pop up over thousands of pages, and being the new business, presumably without huge start up capital and resources, you’re going to be invisible.

“The longest journey begins with just one step.” I don’t know who said that, but when it was said, there was no internet and there was no Google. But it’s as true now as it was then. Start small and ‘learn’ how to grow. This undertaking is no get rich quick scam so get used to some hard work for a little while, but that doesn’t mean we have to work stupidly. Focus on who we want typing in our final keyword selection, we want buyers, not browsers. Thinking about creative ways to narrow your keywords down to a lucrative niche or two can be a daunting thought at first, but after a few tireless nights scouring through the facts,
things can become a lot more clear, and you might be very surprised at what you come up with.

Each group of words you come up with should have its own file either on your computer or in a manila file somewhere, for all of us old heads out there. You may find that tweaking your phrase choice a little can go a long way, like “internet marketing for stay at home moms” or “online money making opportunity for single fathers.” Notice these phrases are not just two or three words, but are base keywords with added words to narrow down the search a little more, known as long-tail keywords. Consider what you know the most about. Who is your target market to be? If you owned a small business maybe you’d like to target business owners, or former real estate agents and stock brokers. The point is, narrow the field down to carve out yourself a niche where there aren’t millions of others jockeying for rank.
Consider typing in various geographic locations throughout the country, or world for that matter, such as “internet marketing for stay at home moms in Boston.”

Get creative, dig in, and do your research and never, ever quit. You can’t imagine what the payoff will be for your efforts.

Local Business and SEO: Start an SEO Marketing Campaign With Keyword Research

Local Business and SEO: Start an SEO Marketing Campaign With Keyword Research

If you’re new to SEO, it is understandable that you’ll have a lot of questions.  When we talk about how SEO works, there is a lot of ground to cover.  Like anything else, you’ve got to have a starting point.  Keyword research is one of the most important aspects to using SEO within the framework of your business.

Here are three things that will make the process of keyword research geared toward eventual SEO marketing a lot easier.  Don’t worry – once you get started, you’ll find it’s easier than you may think.

Tools Are Important!

Google’s Adwords for small businesses costs a little money, but is one of the easiest, most comprehensive tools you can use to research keywords.  If you want to get your SEO marketing campaign up and running quickly, hiring an expert to do the research for you can take the frustration as well as most of the time out of the process.  While you might feel tempted to do SEO marketing research all on your own using free tools, keep the fact that your time is valuable in mind, and weigh the costs of using that time to do your research versus using your time in a more profitable way.

Get In The Back Door

If your business is in a specific niche – let’s say, restaurants in Washington, DC, then you might have a tough time trying to outrank top competition.  So, shoot for the back door.  Use the fact that many consumers use misspelled words, and keep that in mind while you’re looking for the right keywords to use within your SEO marketing plan.  In addition, think about using words that competitors might not have thought of, and think about using various combinations of keywords to help your local business rank better.

Be Specific!

Combine keywords so your site is easy for search engines to find.  Using our DC restaurant example, let’s say you offer sushi.  Use combinations of the words “sushi”, “Washington”, and “DC” instead of just using the word “sushi” to try to rank.  Test this out for yourself:  Type “sushi” into your search box, and look at what comes up.  Next, type “sushi Washington”, and you’ll see some better results.  Finally, type “sushi Washington DC” and you’ll see a comprehensive list of restaurants that rank for sushi in DC.  Failing to be specific is a major waste of time and money, so don’t skip this step!

With just a little knowledge of your own, as well as a clear goal in mind and a smattering of professional assistance, you can conduct your research quickly and start optimizing – it’s money well spent, especially when you consider the fact that SEO marketing is one of the best ways to make your business, whatever it may be, better than ever.

Keyword Research – Or – Make A Website Like Successful People

Keyword Research – Or – Make A Website Like Successful People

Most people will make a website and be happy that they reached a couple of thousand viewers over the course of ten years. But wouldn’t it be much more rewarding to make a website and actually reach more people? Of course it would, and that is what we’re going to learn in this article.

You see, there is this misconception that if you make it, “they” will come. While this may work for a baseball diamond that is anything but true when you make a website.

Let me ask you a question. How did you find this article on how to make a website? The common answer will be, you preformed a search. But you never would have found it if I hadn’t focused on one subject. While this may sound cryptic, it really isn’t. To simplify things, let’s run through a basic example.

And while I have already covered the steps involved in planning and researching a website in other articles, this will give you enough information to get you started in the right direction.

Plan To Make A Website

Before you make a website, you will want to pick out a topic. By planning on what your website is going to be about, you will be taking the guess work out of the coming steps.

The easiest way to do this is sit down and brainstorm. Write down all of your interests. Pick the one out that interests you the most. This can be anything as long as you’re going to be able to write about it for more than a few weeks. One of the keys to success when you make a website is your ability to stick with it and stay on topic.

For illustrative purposes, let’s say that you want to make a website about the Romans. Good, now we have a starting point.

One thing that will benefit you immensely when you make a website is knowing what kind of competition you will face. It doesn’t matter why you make the site, either for fun or profit, you will face competition to some degree or another.

To do this, go to the search engine of your choice and perform an exact search. In Google this can be done by placing quotation marks around your words. If you only have a single keyword the quotation marks aren’t necessary. The number of sites that come up will be your direct competition. For ease lets say 500 people have websites about the Romans.

Before we begin making a website on the subject, we need to know the search volume, or the amount of people that look for the keyword each month. This can be done in Google’s AdWords Keyword Tool if you’ve used their search engine. It is important to get the data from whichever SE you’ve used. Again make sure it is the exact number of searches. As an example, we’ll say 100 people are interested in our subject.

We now divide the number of websites by the search volume. 500/100 if you go with our numbers. This shows us that there are 5 websites for every 1 searcher. Your numbers will vary, but just remember, the more websites there are for each potential visitor the harder it will be to rank.

Now that we have our primary keyword, we can begin to make a website, one that has a chance of actually getting viewed.

Navigation – The Important Keyword Component

This is one part people often overlook when they make a website, still, it is a very important component.

Think of your website as a series of tiers. The first tier is the homepage. This gives your viewers and the search engines a starting point. Below your first tier is your second tier content. Here you will get more specific.

Building off of our example, we will say the homepage is focused on “Romans”, and is a doorway into the more specific second tier like “Roman History”, “Roman Emperors”, etc. From here we would drill down to tier three where the bulk of your content will be located.

At tier three you will be focusing on the content. Under “Roman Emperors” you introduce what the page is about. You would also have a list of the many different rulers of Rome. And from there you would link to a page about each of them. If you make a website like this, you will be encouraging a natural transition from one tier to the next. People will be more likely to read further, and spiders will crawl your site deeper and more thoroughly.

While tiers actually belong to the navigational stage when you make a website, they are also effected by your keyword research. How? Simple, keyword research is just as import at this stage as when you picked a theme for your website. By researching what people look for when they search for a specific topic, you are giving them more of an opportunity to find it.

Each page, starting with the homepage to your very deepest tier, should be researched and planned. Following the steps I have already outlined earlier in this article, you are helping to ensure your success. This can be a very time consuming process and to some extent frustrating when you are having trouble finding keywords. These two reasons are probably why many people (beginners to experts) have invested in software to expedite and simplify the procedure of making a successful website.

If you’re one of these people that doesn’t have the time and patience to play guessing games I have written an article for beginners and advanced users alike.
