Article Marketing Strategies: Using Google’s Wonder Wheel In Keyword Research

Article Marketing Strategies: Using Google’s Wonder Wheel In Keyword Research

Google offers a very cool free tool that you might not even be aware of. It’s called ‘Wonder Wheel’, and it’s extremely useful at helping you develop a list of keywords for your article marketing strategies.

When you begin doing keyword research, you have a few phrases that you know are associated with your niche. You can use those phrases as a springboard on Google’s Wonder Wheel to alert you to other related keyword terms that you might not have even thought about before.

Where do you find the Wonder Wheel? Likely it’s been under your nose all along and you didn’t even see it. Go to Google’s main page as if you were going to do a search.

Type in your search terms–this would be one of your keyword terms that you are researching. Let’s say that your website is about chocolate recipes. So, you would then type in the words ‘chocolate recipes’ into Google’s search box and hit “Search”.

Now, look on the left hand sidebar for a link that says “Wonder wheel”. Click that link.

What will show up on the results looks like a sun–a circle in the middle with the words that you searched for (chocolate recipes, in this case) and then lines coming out from that with phrases that are related to chocolate recipes.

In this example, these were some of the related terms:

chocolate candy recipes

chocolate truffle recipes

simple chocolate recipes

easy chocolate recipes

homemade chocolate recipes

how to make chocolate

You can then click on any of these related terms to get more detailed information. For example, clicking on “how to make chocolate” brings up another sun with lines projecting from the center that say:

how to make chocolate chip cookies

how to make chocolate bars

how to make chocolate candy

how to make fudge

It goes on and on. Notice how the Wonder Wheel is giving very detailed information about phrases related to the initial search. You start with one keyword term that you’re researching, and all of a sudden you have a dozen additional related phrases to go off of. This is extremely helpful for doing keyword research.

Here’s one more Google keyword tip: type the tilda character (it’s on your keyboard) into Google’s search box and then type your keyword directly afterwards.

The results will show web pages with words highlighted that Google considers to be semantically related to the original keyword.

For example, when I type the tilda character directly followed by the term ‘recipe’ into Google, the results include web pages with related keyword terms in bold. Some of them are ones you might not have considered to be semantically related, but Google does.

For the word “recipes”, Google has “food”, “cooking”, “recipe”, “ingredients”, as part of the results.

Interesting! This would be helpful information to anyone who had ‘chocolate recipes’ as a keyword term to know what other words Google would consider to be related. They could then integrate those words into their article. Likely those words would naturally show up in an article about “chocolate recipes” anyway, but at least you would know that they were aiding your cause in alerting Google to the subject matter of your website.

Your Assignment:

Use the Wonder Wheel and the tilda character search to expand your keyword research. The information that you gain will help you create properly optimized articles.

Using Google’s Keyword Tool to Find Long Tail Keywords

Using Google’s Keyword Tool to Find Long Tail Keywords

Keyword research is an art form. If you have the fundamentals of IM and can master keyword research and keyword utilization you will make money online.

It’s important to remember that these days, Internet Marketing is all about Google. Google is the gateway for the internet for most people.

If people are looking for information on the web, the first place most people look is Google. And if you are an informational marketer, Google should be your best friend.

With Google it’s all about the keywords. Google is built off of keywords, and key phrases. Since this is the only way Google can figure out what the user is looking for.

Keyword research therefore is hugely important. You can find “profitable keywords” for your niche that doesn’t have much competition and you could literally write yourself a check.

You would then use these keywords and either attack it with Search Engine Optimization (SEO) or AdWords (Google’s text advertisement system).

SEO is trying to get on the #1 result, or get on the first page of Google for your various keyword of choice. With AdWords, you are trying to create profitable Campaigns with good CTR’s (click thru rate) and high sales conversions. With AdWords you will pay to be on the first page of Google, SEO is organic and takes more time usually.

A good way to figure out which keywords to target for your website is to:

1) Use Google’s Keyword Tool.

https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal

Click, ‘Website Content’ and enter in your website address.

This basically grabs all the relevant keywords that Google thinks is relevant to your website.

2) Grab the results then put it back into Google’s “Descriptive words or phrases” search.

This will output the keywords Google thinks is similar to the keywords that are relevant to your site.

If your AdWords campaign uses these keywords, your cost per click would be lower, because your site is more relevant.

With SEO, if the keyword you’re targeting for SEO purposes is already the keywords Google associate with your site, you stand a much higher chance of ranking for those keywords.

Googles pay per click equals payday

Googles pay per click equals payday

How to use Google adsense and your website to make money at home.

Website owners can enroll in google adsense to enable text, image, and more recently, video advertisements on their websites. These advertisements are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-impression basis.

Basically you need to sign up with the network and paste some code snippets on your website. The network will then serve contextual ads (either text or images) relevant to your website, and you will earn a certain amount of money for every click.

Pay per click (PPC) is an internet advertising model used on websites, in which advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked.

Payment depends on the general traffic levels of the website and, most importantly, on the click-through rate (CTR) and cost per click (CPC).

The CTR depends on the design of the website. Ads placed in the folds or blended with content, for instance, tend to get higher CTRs.

The CPC, on the other hand, depends on the nice of the website. Mortgages, financial products and college education are examples of profitable niches (clicks worth a couple of dollars are not rare), while tech-related topics tend to receive a smaller CPC (sometimes as low as a couple of cents per click).

The source of the traffic can also affect the overall CTR rate. Organic traffic (the one that comes from search engines) tends to perform well because these visitors were already looking for something, and they tend to click on ads more often. Social media traffic, on the other hand, presents terribly low CTRs because these visitors are usually tech-savvy and they just browse on thru.

Many PPC providers exist, Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and Microsoft adCenter are the three largest network operators.

Learning and studying pay per click to further profit your website may has proven to be a great return on investment of time to make more money.

GOOGLES ANDROID: The Innovative Breakthrough with Google and Open Handset Alliance

GOOGLES ANDROID: The Innovative Breakthrough with Google and Open Handset Alliance

Wikipedia notes that the Google Android is a mobile operating system that makes use of a modified version of the Linux kernel.  It was originally developed by Android Inc., a firm and later purchased by Google and the Open Handset Alliance.  The Google Android will allow developers to create managed code in Java language in order to manage the device via Google-developed Java libraries.

Initially, the Google Android was  developed by Andorid Inc.  Android Inc., was then purchased by the Open Handset Alliance and Google.  Google-developed Java libraries allows developers to write managed code in Java language.
In November of 2007 the Google Android was first released by the Open Handset Alliance.  The “Alliance” is basically made up of 47 hardware, software and telecom companies dedicated to the Android platform..  This alliance is committed to advancing the open standards for mobile devices..  Most of the Android code has been said to be debude under the Apache license.  As stated earlier, the Google Android is equally open source and free.  A very unique and strategic move on Google’s part.

Mobile phones incorporating the Google platform can look forward to a comprehensive set of software which comes with an operating system, middleware and key mobile applications that can be tweaked to suit the end user.

The Googles Androids was constructed from the ground floor.  This process makes it possible for designers to produce those mobile functions that  take full advantage of everything a mobile device can offer.  Creating the Google Droid from the bottom up is said to be pure open source. Any  device incorporating this application can make use of any of the phone’s principal functionalities.  These functions incorporate yet aren’t restricted to making calls, sending text messages or utilizing a camera.  In short, the open source makes it possible for developers to design a richer and more cohesive experiences for end users.

Now if that is not sufficient, the Google Android utilizes a custom virtual mechanism that  was designed to optimize both memory and hardware resources in a mobile environment.  As the Google Android is open source; it will possibly be generously extended to integrate new innovative technologies as they emerge. This Android platform will continue to get better as the developer community innovates fresh ways of utilizing mobile devices.

THE GOOGLE ANDROID:  All devices are alleged to be created alike in  terms of the Google Android.

The Google Android platform  creates no distinction involving the phone’s fundamental features and third-party applications.  In fact, they could all be designed to share evenly in the phone’s capabilities.  This characteristic permits users to make use of a broad spectrum of services and devices. Getting phones developed upon the Android platform, consumers possess the capability to tailor their phone to fulfill their special requirements. Altering the phone’s home screen as an illustration from Google to Opera or Yahoo.  The shape of the dialer can also be changed to any of the devices. End users can even target their phones to utilize their favorite photo viewing application to handle the viewing of all photographs.

A great number of cellular phone fans argue that the Google Androids is tearing down conventional application boundaries.  Breaking down these boundaries contributes to novel and modern phones.   A developer, for example, can blend information from the web on to an individual’s mobile phone with precise information.  This data can be shaped in terms of a user’s contacts, weather, stocks, calender and even their geographic location.  In the long run, the ability to tailor and end user’s skill make using this device more significant to each individual.  Visualize being able to create an application that will let you know when your child arrives in school, when they head for home and their eta.  Picture in addition if you would like to keep in touch regarding a client who is traveling to your city or workplace.  You’ll in fact watch their movement with your Google Android based device phone.

In terms of the development of applications for the Google Android, the platform is designed to be fully accessible.    For example, Google’s Android provides immediate access to a host of libraries and tools that can be exploited in terms of building rich applications. Only time will tell how many, how varied and how innovative these applications will be.

A Business Owner’s Guide To Google’s New Street View

Pastry-Shop

Looking for a pastry shop in Boston? Or how about a late-night sushi cafe in Cambridge? Just whip out Google Maps and it will return a list of related locations with directions, photos, and even reviews of the destination.

With location-based sites like Yelp, Foursquare, Twitter, and others on the rise, Google decided to enter the “location war” with Google Places, a tool that enables business owners to build a directory page in Google Maps. However, Google has taken it up a notch. People can now browse local business in Google Street View and find nearby listings right on the map.

Local Businesses in Google Street View

In a seemingly virtual reality world, users can “walk” down a street and explore nearby locations. Each location has a company name as well as an icon indicating the type of business. If you hover over a local business name, its information (address, phone number, ratings, etc.) will appear in a pop-out box. These are the same business annotations that were viewable zoomed out, but they are now available as you explore around town.

Google-Street-View

What Should Business Owners Do?

  1. Set up Google Places page. People are already searching for you online, so make sure they are finding the right information. Set up your business listing on Google Places and include information such as your address, website, phone number, photos, business hours, etc.

  2. Ramp up your online presence. Create coupons for customers who find you online or offer special deals to draw people in from Google Street View. If you sell products online, a 15% discount will certainly attract users who are just passing by online. Be sure to offer great customer service to receive good ratings on your business listing.

  3. Analyze your online traffic. Use Google’s data to learn more about your customers’ activity, behavior, and trends. Find out who’s searching for you and where they are coming from, and accordingly adjust your online strategy. Don’t forget to check that your business is in the right place!

5 Ways Marketers Can Use Google’s New Bookmark Lists

This week, Google made yet another step into the social media world by making its bookmarks
social. While Google’s bookmark feature may still be flying under the radar of most users, its new list feature creates interesting collaborative opportunities for marketers. Users add bookmarks to Google by either using the Google Tool Bar or the star feature in search results. It is likely that some of you may have saved bookmarks in your web browser, but not online. Why would you want to save them on the web with Google?

These are two key reasons for using online bookmarks: (1)They can be accessed from an computer or device that connects to the internet. (2)They are on the web means they can also be social.

What do Lists Have to do With it?

Whether you do it on the web or in a browser, it is likely that we have all bookmarked articles and found it to be useful when needing to find information quickly. Why do bookmark lists matter to marketers?

Lists help organize content and help it to be more social. Lists also create a common interest that allows people to more easily collaborate around a topic by grouping information into one place. We are starting to see lists pop up in all types of social networks on the web, most recently lists were a major feature addition for Twitter.

The powerful thing about really big web services like Google and Facebook is that becasue so many people use them, they have the critical mass to make collaboration happen.

5 Marketing Applications of Google Bookmark Lists

1. Creating a Real-time Corporate Newsroom
- The days of sending out boring press releases are quickly fading. The problem is that companies still need ways to communicate news and events. Customers and prospects want to know if you have experts being interviewed in industry publications or what other people outside of your organization say about your product. Creating a list of articles that feature your company is an easy way to have an easy-to-update system for saving and viewing all of your news and information online. Check out a sample using HubSpot.

google bookmarks

2. Crowdsource Marketing Ideas
- Two heads are better than one right? If so, then letting a group of internal staff or customers share links about marketing examples they like or other ideas may create a valuable opportunity for creative thinking. E-mail isn’t the right tool for collecting input from a large group. Bookmark lists create a simple page similar to a wiki that allows team members to share links and ideas for future activities.

3. Write Blog Articles EasierBlogging
is a great inbound marketing tool, but it can sometimes take a while to get the right text with the correct links posted. Create a bookmark list for each blog post you are planning to write and use the lists to gather all of the links you need to include in your post. This helps to save time and provides a better way to organize thoughts. You could even link to your bookmark lists in your blog post as a resource page that includes all the links and information used to put the blog post together, which creates added value for the user.

4. Promote Brand Advocates – Customers who support your brand and products online can be a huge driving force for word-of-mouth credibility. One thing that brand advocates love is recognition by the company they love. Using lists to create pages praising top brand advocates can be a powerful way to draw more support and create healthy competition amongst customers. For example, build a list to recognize some of the top bloggers in your industry. This list will make the bloggers feel like they have influence in the industry, but it will also win your organization credibility and goodwill for acknowledging their hard work.

5. Create Thought Leadership
- A bookmark list is merely an organized collection of links that your have read. When a company creates a bookmark list it builds credibility by becoming and industry curator of knowledge and information. Think of a bookmark list as a “What We Are Reading” page for a business. As employees and executives bookmark credible links the aggregation of all of this knowledge will portray your organization as one that is about learning and is tapped into the pulse of the industry.

While this posts was focused on Google lists these ideas work for many different social platforms that use lists.

How do you use lists?

Comparing Google’s Nexus One And The Motorola Droid

Since October 17, 2009, the Motorola Droid was the hottest Android smartphone on the market. However, the expected launch of the Google Nexus One in the sunrise of 2010 writes a new chapter in the smartphone Android battle. Experts are already confused as to whether the Nexus One will be able to overpower the Droid, especially since the former isn’t linked to any specific provider.

A comparison of the Google Nexus One and the Motorola Droid may be able to answer some questions.

Google Nexus One

Featuring a Snapdragon 1GHz core processor, 512MB of DDR2 RAM and 4GB microSD card storage capacity that are expandable to 32 GB, the Google Nexus One is an advanced device that runs on Android 2.1 OS. Besides, the device comes with a 3.7″ WVGA AMOLED touchscreen that natively supports 480×800 pixels resolution allowing users to navigate through their picture gallery and enjoy absolutely bright and sharp pictures on this touchscreen. Even better, the touch sensitivity of Nexus One is far better than any other Android phone currently available on the market.

Featuring no keyboard and trading-off for a sleek design and light weight, the Nexus One comes with four ingenious touch buttons at the bottom of the screen, namely Home, Menu, Search and Back buttons, and a navigation trackball. On the upper side, the device features a 3.5mm headphone jack, while on the bottom side there is the micro-USB port and the microphone headset. On the back side, there is the 5-megapixel camera with flash that allows users to capture sharp pictures at an exceptional accuracy and speed. However, the feature that demonstrates Google’s sophisticated decision making is the Gallery app that is really user-friendly offering users more options than other Android phones when browsing their photos.

The Google Nexus One comes at a retail price of $199.

Motorola Droid

The Motorola Droid denotes Motorola’s return in the smartphone arena. Featuring a 550MHz processor, 256 MB of DDR2 RAM and 16GB microSD card that can be expandable to 32 GB, the Motorola Droid is the first smartphone to run on a Google Android 2.0 OS. Besides, the device features a 3.7″ WVGA touchscreen that natively supports 854×480 resolution, offering users absolute delighting when viewing their sharp and bright images. Even better, the clarity of the text is outstanding on the Droid as the device has a unique pixel density that enables users to read an e-book as if they are in front of a laptop screen.

Another exceptional feature is Droid’s QWERTY slider keyboard. Featuring larger and flatter keys than other Droid smartphones (HTC Touch Pro or the N900), the Droid’s keyboard allows users to type more comfortably using their thumbs instead of their thumbnails.

The device comes also with 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack and a Micro-USB port. Moreover, the native support for Exchange, the unified contact list and the exceptional new mapping and navigation application from Google as well as fast 3D graphics chip make Motorola Droid good choice for a smartphone.

The Motorola Droid starts at a retail price of $199.99.

The bottom line

The Nexus One has a more advanced OS (Android 2.1 vs. Android 2.0 of the Droid). In terms of ergonomics, both smartphones are pretty similar (Nexus One Height: 119mm, Width: 59.8mm, Depth: 11.5mm – Droid Height: 115.80mm, Width: 60mm, Depth: 13.7mm); only the Nexus One is quite lighter weighing 130 grams including the battery, while the Droid’s weight is 169 grams with the battery.

The Droid has both onscreen virtual keyboard and slide-out QWERTY keyboard that is convenient for users who like both touchscreen and typing. Moreover, its 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, dual LED flash and DVD quality video recording has a 720×480 pixels resolution.

The bottom line is that it all comes down to personal needs. It looks like Google competes with itself. Although the Nexus One and the Motorola Droid are quite similar and come at the same retail price – or at least this is what is expected for the Nexus One – , there are distinct differences that can be addressed by personal preferences.

Common Problems With Google’s Nexus One Phone

When Google introduced the Nexus One had hoped to launch one of the best Android smartphones currently available on the market. And up to a point they have achieved to release a smartphone that is elegant, fast, and smooth, running on an Android 2.1 OS and being outstandingly better than any other Android phone.

However, it seems that a number of users experience problems with their 3G reception on the Google Nexus One and complain about lacking 3G coverage or often fluctuating between EDGE and 3G network. Customers write their reviews in the Nexus’s online support forums and voice their complaints. The problem is mainly encountered with T-Mobile provider and Google is looking for user feedback to identify common issues in customer complaints in order to implement a common policy to solve the problem. However, Google is repeatedly reported as unresponsive in responding to customer complaints, because when customers send an email to ask for help, it takes up to three days for Google to respond.

The Nexus One is Google’s experiment to sell a landmark smartphone to its customers using the online-only/direct-to-customers sales model that has worked pretty well with Google’s online ad sales. However, as hardware products typically have more problems than software and cannot be fixed with a simple patch, it is likely that the 3G connection problem is the beginning of a series of problems for the Nexus One. As the new Android 2.1 OS is not supported yet by many tools, other Android smartphones are irritated because Google is basically a self-regulating monopoly that owns the new OS and practically inhibits other manufacturers to give Android another go.

Another problem encountered with the Nexus One is with its touch screen. Although the resolution is excellent at 480 x 800 pixels, there are 54 pixels missing that are really noticeable in certain apps, let alone expected considering the 3.7″ screen size. For instance, red and orange colors look oversaturated and the color balance seems rather imbalanced on the AMOLED display. Particularly, when using the Nexus One during the daylight is rather disturbing because the orange color is even brighter making it difficult to see the Nexus’s screen with any kind of bright light around. Moreover, shooting pictures with the Nexus One on a sunny day seems like shooting pictures with eyes wide shut.

Finally, Google features live wallpapers and animated backgrounds that allow users to interact with and these features are actually extremely intriguing and attractive. On the other hand, these features are rather useless and drain the battery that lasts fairly long. The Nexus’s battery life lasts up to 7 hours of talk time, 250 hours standby, and 5 hours of Internet use on the 3G network, as well as 7 hours of video playback and 20 hours of audio playback. However, interacting with live wallpapers and animated backgrounds when turning on the phone requires charging the device quite often. This is a problem for some consumers.

Regardless if Google’s customer service is automated requiring Google to invest in customer support, the Nexus One is the best Android phone available on the market right now.
