How to add contacts on your iPhone using Google Maps

The more I explore the options available on my new iPhone the more impressed I become. One of the applications that will appear on your screen as a standard feature is called maps, and when you click on the icon, you will soon see it is Google Maps.

As I began playing around with the maps app I soon discovered a really great function of the maps app.If you use the application to look up a particular business on your iPhone that you will continue to visit in the future, you can add them to your contacts list.

In my case I was using the application to search for a pet food shop that had been recommended to us. The recommendation was such a good one and the location of the shop convenient, so I felt sure I would need to visit in the future.

After finding the shop, I started to type in the contact details but then just by chance I tapped on the arrow that was appearing on the maps app and realised that I could add the contact using Google Maps.

 I will explain the exact process and steps involved

Step one: To add a location that you have looked up using the Google Maps app you need firstly type in your search term, in my case in was simply Pet Food.

Step two: My screen shows a Google Map showing a red pinpoint marker and the name Pets Paradise.

Step three: Google Maps have located the exact place that my friend had recommended so I simply tap on the Blue arrow.

Step Four: I am presented with a screen full on information about Pets Paradise, including a website address and contact numbers. I also have the exact address and options at the bottom of the screen offering directions to and from.

Step Five: Scroll a little further down the screen and you will have the option of adding the details to contacts, sharing the location or adding to your bookmarks.

Step Six: When you hit the button to add contacts you will then be presented with choosing create new either contact or add information to an existing contact.

If you are in business, you are probably thinking just as I was how important it is to have a listing with Google.

I suppose this is just another of many hundreds of examples of how Google constantly shows why they are a global trendsetter in business.

I started to think about how many of my friends and colleges use the iPhone and how many of them like using technology. Being listed and noted on Google Maps could just be the easiest and cheapest marketing a local retail business will ever do.

In 2010 and onward the speed at which people do business really knows no bounds and being able to add a complete business profile in your iPhone contacts in Four seconds is terrific.

* Use doorway pages
* Use font the same color as the background
* Stack web pages with typos
* Clone pages
* Post a lot of reviews unless you use <no follow> codes

These should help protect your website from being banned and penalized. If the website/blog is already penalized, then fix the above problems. Sign into your Google Account and look on the right side of the dashboard. There is a ‘reconsideration’ link. Complete it, and then hopefully, Google will re-index the website and return the website’s page rank.

I find that keywords with between 100 and 1000 searches per day (or 3000 and 30,000 searches per month) are generally the easiest to rank well for relatively quickly. The higher searched terms are usually a lot more competitive and will require a lot more link building work to reach the first page of google.

Relevant Keywords

You want to pick a collection of highly relevant keywords on what you are trying to sell or promote. I will go more into keyword research at a later time, but as a primer to keywords you should be looking for keywords that are directly related to your product or service. Google prides themselves on providing their visitors with the best user experience possible. When someone does a search, google wants them to find exactly what they are looking for.

What Not To Do

Not all traffic is the same. 100 highly targeted visitors is a thousand times better than 1 million untargeted visitors. The purpose of keyword selection is to try and match what the searcher is looking for, with what you have to offer. You do not want to bid on random keywords just to try and capture traffic.

What google wants you to do

Google wants you to pick a portfolio of keywords that will provide their visitors a great user experience. If you have a selection of poorly selected keywords google will penalize you by making you pay more per click, or they may even turn your ads off.

So what is relevance?

Relevant keywords should be common sense. If your selling dog supplies then you should be bidding on dog supply related terms. If you bid on the keyword “dog training” but your site does not contain any training materials or supplies, then your keyword is no longer relevant. Your portfolio should only contain keywords like dog leash, dog collar, dog biscuits, and dog outfits. Assuming you actually carry these items of course.

What can be mistaken for relevant?

I was reading a forum the other day of someone who was promoting weight loss supplements and guides. This person wanted to know if the keyword “beating hunger” was related to weight loss. In this case the keyword can be mistaken for a relevant keyword as those who are dieting may be hungry because they are eating less to lose the weight. However, if your in the weight loss industry, this would not be considered a relevant keyword as it can apply to many other niches such as world hunger.

I will go more into keyword research on a later article, but when you are looking into keywords try and select those that are the most directly related to what you are selling or promoting. Keywords such as”buy [product name]” are great buying cycle keywords. Dont waste you money on cross related keywords until your campaign is at the point where you need to expand to increase profits and sales.
