Ah, but, it doesn’t just stop at the touchscreen, because it’s a special one. You see, the Blackberry Storm has a screen that can be pressed down into the body of the mobile phone, with a satisfying clicky action. In essence, it’s designed to feel like you’re pressing a real, physical button, and believe me, when you’re typing out an email using the virtual keyboard on the Blackberry Storm, that kind of physical motion and click is absolutely invaluable. No other touchscreen mobile phones can touch (pun ever so slightly intended) the Blackberry Storm, when it comes to tactile feedback.

The Perfect Storm?

The question, though, is whether the Blackberry Storm is the perfect email device, and whether it can be the perfect smartphone. It certainly has a massive list of features, beginning with the touchscreen, and taking in such varied things as a 3 megapixel camera, and superb video playback, meaning you have your very own pocket entertainment system, with the Blackberry Storm. And, of course, with HSDPA internet access and WiFi, as well as a massive screen, the Blackberry Storm (or Blackberry Storm 9500, to give it its full name) really is one of the better internet mobile phones out there. The Best Target Demographic Ever?

No organization can serve everyone. And no organization has unlimited resources. As a result, organizations of all kinds try to focus their outreach and marketing efforts on the people they believe are most likely to respond. A private school might advertise on a local educational cable TV station. A church might purchase the names and addresses of all the people who have moved into their zip code in the last month and send them a welcome package. Businesses spend millions analyzing the demographics of their customer base so they can make the most of their advertising dollars.

There is one demographic that is by far the most cost-effective to target.

If you lead a church, it’s the group of people most likely to show to an interest if invited. If you lead a school, it’s the families most likely to register their kids for the next school year. If you lead a business, it is the people most likely to purchase your products of services. If you operate a website, it’s the people most likely to visit your website today.

Do you know the most successful demographic you could possibly target?

Your current people. Your customers, students, parishioners, website visitors.

Right now you may be saying, “Well, obviously” But is that reflected in the way you communicate? Is it reflected in your priorities? Is it reflected on your Christian website? Is it reflected in they way you allocate your time, your staffing, and your funding?

Churches
Some churches spend a lot of time, effort, and money doing outreach and church marketing – and rightly so, for Jesus told us, “’Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.” (Luke 14:23)

I hesitate to say this because churches are not all about numbers and growing attendance figures (at least they shouldn’t be), and this is going to sound rather crass and business-like, but try to bear with me and withhold judgment for just a moment while run some numbers by you…

• About 10% of the people attending an average church will leave during the next year. Some because they’re moving to a new city, some will die, but many will leave for another church or stop being a part of a church all together.
• About 15% of the people who visit a church “stick” and end up attending regularly.

What that means is that a church of 200 can expect 20 of those people to leave in the next year. Just to remain a church of 200, they need to add 20 new people. That means they need about 140 new people to visit the church just to stay at their current attendance.

Research shows, however, that it takes a lot more time, effort, and money to get 70 new people in the door than it would take to halve the number of people leaving to 5% or double the percentage of visitors who stick to 30%.

I am not by any means saying churches should cut their outreach budgets to focus on keeping members happy. The American church has become far too inward-focused and member-pleasing as it is. What I am saying is that there are small, inexpensive things churches can do to help close the “back door” – to help their members stay better connected, better informed, and simply feel more a part of what is going on at the church. I’ll look at some of those ways to close the “back door” in my next article, “5 Ways For Churches To Keep Members And Convert Visitors”.

This laptop is slick and compact with all the features you need. You can get the Apple G4 has a built in CD/DVD reader and CD writer. You can also add on a DVD writer.
The Apple G4 laptop comes with a track pad that works very well even for a person like me with fat, clumsy fingers. But I have to tell you the truth. I like a mouse, which by the way, Apple invented. So, I plugged in a mouse to one of the two USB ports and now it performs exactly like my old desktop. The Apple G4 laptop keyboard has the feel of a desktop with all the function keys. Except the number keypad is integrated with the alphabet keys so you have to press a function key to get them to work as number input. This is annoying but it is the same as all laptops.

One other thing that is truly great about the Apple G4 laptop is the built-in speakers and microphone. You do not need to by a headset with the unit. I did add plug-in speakers for better music quality but it is not necessary and remember this. With the built-in microphone, you are instantly ready for web voice chat.

As with all Apples, the G4 laptop has automatic software updates from the Internet. Just hook up to the Net and it automatically calls home for updates. No checking the website, no figuring out what you need. The operating and installed apple software is updated automatically.

The LCD screen has great resolution and color quality and tilts to every position you need if you do decide to take with you off the desk. Also, the battery runs for at least three hours or more for normal no-sound applications.

The Apple G4 laptop is a neat, clean package that gives you both the feel and performance of the biggest desktop computer. You are sacrificing nothing but space to own this unit.
