How to Effectively Do Keyword Research

How to Effectively Do Keyword Research

What are you looking for?

The first step that you need to take in effective keyword research is to know what you are looking for.  It seems like an obvious thing to do, but there are so many ways you can be distracted when doing research.  Make sure you identify the topics you want and list any similar words that might relate to your target subject.

Sometimes it also helps to re-word your topic into a question.  Write down any questions that come to mind when you think about your topic.  This will help you pull out other words and phrases that you might have missed in your original research.

Search Engines

Search engines are an extremely useful tool when making lists of useful and effective keywords.  Enter your selected keywords and do a search.  You will get pages and pages of results within a matter of seconds.  After a list of possible pages has been populated, you should click on the related links for what you are looking for. Browse the sites for keywords and topics that you might have missed.

Always remember that you should use more than one search engine to get the maximum results possible.

The Printed Word

Do not forget about dictionaries, encyclopedias and other printed material.  The internet is a very useful tool, but sometimes our targeted topic can be lost under mountains and mountains of random internet links that lead nowhere.  A short trip to your local library will probably do you a world of good in effective keyword research.

Magazines and other printed social media can also be used to make a functional list of keywords available to you.

Evaluate

When you feel that you have a pretty solid list of related keywords, make sure you remember to actually evaluate them to ensure they point where you want them to.  Making sure that your list of keywords is credible and accurate is a very important step that most people will skip.  Your list of words will do you little good if they do not point you or your visitors in the right direction.

Make sure that your words do not conflict with each other and try to condense the list down to the most important entries.  It might also be helpful to rearrange your group of words into a numbered list.  Be sure to put the most relevant words at the top and continue working your way down the list.

Good Luck!

Now that you understand the process of gathering effective and relevant keywords, you will be able to update any site or material in order to target a specific list of entries.  This will ensure that only people who are interested in a certain topic will be directed to your subject matter.  This is particularly useful when you are selling a product or service.  You definitely want people interested in what you are selling to be directed to your services.  For more information on keyword research, please visit my blog at http://www.annettapowellonline.com.   See you there!

How to Effectively Replace a keyboard for Gateway MX8000 Laptop

How to Effectively Replace a keyboard for Gateway MX8000 Laptop

In order to save time and money, we would rather replace the laptop keyboard by ourselves. However, Keyboard installation instructions can vary from brand to brand, even models from models. But all Gateway laptops tend to have similar screw placement and keyboard and hinge cover removal. With a small Phillips head screwdriver, some safety precautions and respect for possible power surges or shocks, and a knowledge of the many screw locations, only 15 minutes you could get your gateway laptop keyboard installation success as what I did for my Gateway MX8000 Keyboard.

 First of all, make sure you have prepared the small Phillips screwdriver and the compatible Gateway laptop keyboard;

Secondly, make sure all the powers of your gateway laptop are cut off.Not only should you turn the laptop off and unplug it, but you also need to remove the battery. Locate the memory and Wi-Fi covers and remove them. The memory cover takes up most of the middle of the Gateway unit’s back side and is directly under the battery. The Wi-Fi cover is just to the left of the memory cover. There is 1 screw to detach from the Wi-Fi cover, and 8 to unscrew from the memory cover. Use a small Phillips screwdriver to do this. Do put all the small screws together in one box without any missing.

Then you should do step by step as following:

1>Remove the two covers and locate the two keyboard screws. There is 1 beneath the Wi-Fi cover on the top right side, and 1 beneath the memory cover at exactly the top middle point. Use the Phillips screwdriver again.

2>Flip the Gateway laptop back over and remove the two hinge cover screws. These will be on the back of the screen hinge (or spine, if you will) of the Gateway, one on each far side.

3>Remove the hinge cover. This is the small horizontal cover that runs the width of the laptop and is directly above the keyboard when the laptop is open. You may need to pry under one side of the cover with a small object in order to pop it out.

4>Remove the keyboard from the computer. Note that it is connected via the keyboard connector, which is accessible once you raise the keyboard up. To unlock the connector, flip the black plastic piece upward from its flat position and then disconnect the cable. Pull out the keyboard and put it aside.

5>Take your new keyboard and connect it to the keyboard connector, reversing the process in which you disconnected the former one. Ensure that the keyboard connector is locked again by flipping the black piece back down. Slide the keyboard into place.

6>Replace the hinge cover screws first after sliding the cover back into place.Flip the laptop back over and replace the two keyboard screws in their spots within the Wi-Fi and memory enclosure. Replace those covers. Then, reinstall the cover screws.

15 minutes has passed and turn on the laptop, I am sure the new keyboard could works as the original one. For more laptop keyboard, just feel free to visit http://www.feevoo.com, I am sure you could get exactly what you need at a very good price.

5 Steps To Effectively Monitor Your Brand In Social Media

5 Steps To Effectively Monitor Your Brand In Social Media

Most brand teams are monitoring social media these days to uncover what is being discussed by their customers about their product and its competitors. Many brand teams are event hiring social media monitoring agencies to keep tabs on their brands. Hiring such an agency, while valuable, is quite costly. The purpose of this article is to outline five key steps to effectively and efficiently monitoring social media in-house at a low cost that will yield third-party quality results.

Step 1: Outline your objectives

This is the most critical and often the most over-looked step in developing a sound social media monitoring plan. It is your objective that will eventually determine which monitoring tools you use and how you use them. Are you looking into a niche market for your product that you havent previously targeted? Or maybe you are trying to understand consumer opinions on a recent product recall? Depending on your objective, you will need to customize your methodology.

Step 2: Outline your methodology

Your methodology is all about choosing the right tools for the job. A simple way to do this is to create a spreadsheet with a list of all free and pay services available to you. Attach pros and cons to each service based on your specific needs (e.g. depth of sources monitored, keyword storage, user-friendliness, etc.).

There is no shortage of terrific free tools out there and there is almost no reason that you should not, at the very least, look into these tools. Google Blog Search, Google Alerts, and Twitter Search are all easy to use and very useful. Ultimately, though, a pay service will be required for more robust analysis and deeper insight generation. Most pay services are reasonably priced (starting at only a few hundred dollars per month for a high quality provider) and provide very good customer service to assist you throughout the process of set-up and ongoing monitoring. Radian6 and SM2 are two tools that I have used with good success, but there are numerous other vendors to choose from (e.g. Scout Labs, TNS Cymfony, and many others). Some will contend that pay services are unnecessary with the availability of so many quality free tools. I disagree, however, as a good social media monitoring vendor will provide you with a tool that, at the very least, will save you hours of aggregating data and, at the very most, provide you with more robust tools for analysis. For a couple of hundred dollars, I find these services to be invaluable.

Step 3: Choose the right keywords and continuously optimize

When setting up a monitoring tool, whether it is a free or pay service, you will need to choose keywords that you want to monitor for. This step is critical in generating clean, useful results. The keywords chosen will determine the quantity and quality of your results.. It is imperative to take a targeted approach as you need to cast a large enough net that you capture all relevant conversation without being drowned in irrelevant material. The keyword list should be developed with the overall objective in mind and should be crafted carefully to uncover as much relevant conversation as possible with as little noise as possible.

Depending on your brand name, this may be a very simple or complex process. For a brand like Toyota, for instance, there is likely to be little confusion. Nearly any mention of the term Toyota will yield a result that is specific to the car maker. However, brands like Sure deodorant will need to be much more diligent in their approach. Results for Sure, in general, will have little relevance and even keyword phrase Sure deodorant may yield poor results. Trial and error will ultimately determine the optimal list of keywords. Conduct a quick audit after a few days to see the results that each keyword is generating and adjust accordingly. By dedicating time upfront to this optimization process, you will benefit in the long run in the form of saved time and quality results.

Step 4: Dedicate time to analyzing your results

It is an absolute must that you dedicate time on a weekly basis to analyze the results of your social media monitoring campaign. The purpose of this endeavor is to gain real-time feedback on your brand from your customers. Checking-in sporadically and without focus defeats the purpose of monitoring social media. My recommendation is to set-up a weekly 2 hour time slot in your calendar that you can dedicate to analyzing results and optimizing your keyword list.

Most social media monitoring tools will allow you to uncover trends based on keywords and source. Many will even tell you the sentiment of the conversation (good, bad, neutral), but this too requires optimization as an automated tool cannot sense tone and sarcasm. Working with other team members on your social media monitoring endeavor will lighten your time burden and yield more insightful results. I recommend having one team member manage the overall process and share results with the rest of the team on a regular basis in the form of a brainstorming session to better understand the implications of the results.

Step 5: Take action!

Ultimately, we monitor social media to gain insight: insight into our customers attitudes and beliefs, insight into our brand and how its perceived, insight into trends in the market. This is all done with the intention of enabling us to make more informed, more impactful decisions. When you have uncovered a valuable insight about your brand that you can back up with solid findings, use it to your advantage by acting on it accordingly.

Simple Tips On How To Promote A Business Website Effectively Today

Simple Tips On How To Promote A Business Website Effectively Today

The approaches and answers to the question how to promote a business website effectively often vary with the expert being asked. New sites are very like any other traditional store which is as yet unrecognized and undiscovered. They don’t realize their profit potential until promoted. The most effective plans to promote a website include multiple areas of focus designed to attract visitors and search engine attention.

In the beginning, the new site could be considered very much like a remote island which is far from shipping lanes and has no connections to it or from it. Search engines have yet to discover this island and even a visitor searching for that site might have a hard time finding it. A well thought out promotion can change that site into a heavily trafficked center of online commerce.

While there are many strategies for developing traffic, most experts agree there are three keys to any strategy and they are SEO, back links and content for both visitors and engine spiders. The promotion effort for a site is seldom an overnight effort, but instead the result of a well thought out long term plan.

The uses of site content and its relationship to how to promote a business website effectively may not be immediately obvious to new website owners. Content ties into the SEO program because spiders and visitors both prefer useful information, text and product descriptions. The site visitor may be there to discover how a product works, find buying tips or even price a product, and the content gives that to them. The spiders need words to evaluate the website and decide if it contains relevant information.

SEO is essential to the website marketing initiative which focuses upon making the business site more appealing to the search engines. The search spiders or robots may well see a website in an entirely different way than a visitor might. Spiders are essentially color blind and they evaluate sites based on the text provided in the meta tags or the alt tags and the website content. Optimizing a site for the engines includes finding the right words and phrases and including them in the appropriate sections without overusing them.

Back links are also essential to proper site promotion and a site that has relevant incoming links pointed to the site gains status in the eyes of most search engines. Links pointing to a new website could be created by trading links with a non competing but related business site. They could also be gained by submitting relevant informational articles in exchange for a link pointing to the new business website.

A site owner may feel that some methods of promotion are preferable to others and embark on their own marketing campaign. Some owners who are new to online marketing may choose to engage an expert in SEO. Search engine optimization professionals can answer many of the questions of the site owner as to how to promote a business website effectively based on experience.

Retail Marketing to Effectively Understand your Customer

Retail Marketing to Effectively Understand your Customer

The traditional perception of retail marketing is getting people in your store and increasing the time spent in the store. That equals increased sales. Is it working? Can your retail marketing be more effective, efficient, and innovating, while focusing on understanding your customer’s needs and saving them time?

If we focus on our customer and his needs, we can cut a lot of unwanted flab from our retail operations, in turn saving on cost and providing the customer what he needs, when he needs and how he needs it, in a more efficient way.

Do you understand your customers buying process?
Does your marketing mirror that process?
Do you have specific marketing messages that your customer receives at critical points in that process?
If you did, would your marketing be more effective?

Have you ever wondered why the marketing process rarely considered what stages a customer went through to buy their product or service? Customers usually have a fairly regimented way they purchase. Your sales people already probably know it. Now sit back and document that process, even create a sales funnel or hour glass on this process. As you go through it step by step, pick critical points and review what you type of marketing materials or experience you would like them to have in their hand as they reach those points. Maybe even think about reaching them just right before they reach a critical point. If you do this, it will create an entire different way of looking at your marketing. From the customers point of view!

Your marketing must meet the customer’s needs at both a specific time and be delivered with the required message. The thousands of mundane and sophisticated things that marketers do to deliver a message are generally of little interest to customers. To view value from the eyes of the customer requires needless messages to be reduced. Having identified your ideal customer is to understand all the activities required to explain the benefits of a specific product and optimize the whole marketing process from the view of the customer.

Marketing is not an event – it is a process, and a mindset. A consistently high quality marketing effort cannot be produced by a faulty process. You must have products or services in place to meet your customer expectations. Look at each step and mirror your customer’s process and be able to pick your marketing reaction as quickly as you could turn a faucet. Wash your hands of a sloppy process and give the customer exactly what he wants, when he wants it and how he wants it. Balancing the process will soon become as easy as adjusting the water for the right temperature. But to do so, make sure you look in the mirror each step of the way.

Many marketers need to critically evaluate their processes to determine their effectiveness in bringing maximum value to customers. Today’s techniques are creating more efficient methods to deliver targeted messages in the particular manner that customers wish to receive. As stated earlier, lean marketing is a system focused on and driven by customers. Optimizing the value stream from their eyes and in an efficient process takes marketing to a level not experienced before. So is your marketing giving you a sustainable advantage over your competition?

Internet Marketing & Seo Tips: 2 Ways To Effectively Target Your Audience Online

Internet Marketing & Seo Tips: 2 Ways To Effectively Target Your Audience Online

It’s far from a secret that the internet is the place to be seen as an advertiser these days. The worldwide web is absolutely awash with pop up ads and branded content, rightly so given the millions of consumers surfing, searching or sharing on this platform at any given time. As a marketer, therefore, it has become vitally important to not only know your audience, but to reach them successfully. Every advertising dollar counts, and they must be invested in the places where your target consumers can be found. As such, this article will address two targeting techniques for improving the effectiveness of your online marketing efforts: day-part targeting and events-triggered targeting.

Day-Part Targeting involves marketing to consumers at certain times of the day. Having identified your target customer, it is important to build up an idea of their online habits. Specifically, this involves determining exactly when can they be found online. If they work full time, it is perhaps not the best idea to send them emails about your latest product offers at 9am, especially on a Monday. A shrewder choice might be to send these types of messages at lunchtime on a Wednesday, when your targeted audience would be more likely to be on a break. It is also important to think of what your consumer may want at a specific time when they are online. For example, a 24 hour deli should post paid search ads that appear after midnight looking to attract hungry students after a night out. The concept is very simple: consider who your target is and when they might be online in order to maximize conversion.

Events-triggered Targeting is a method that seeks to take advantage of different events in the world, from birthdays to Valentine’s Day, from rainy afternoons to political crises. These events can be divided into scheduled and non-scheduled. Scheduled events such as birthdays present an opportunity to engage with your consumer; it provides an opportunity for a marketer to sell the companies’ latest promotions without being invasive. Unscheduled events should be quickly acted on whenever they occur. Utilize cold weather in your advertisements even if your company does not sell heaters. ‘Beat the freeze with these hot new deals’ could be a slogan for any company, but it becomes more relevant given an appropriate climate. The advantage with unscheduled events is the opportunity to leverage current events and use them to drive traffic toy your conversion pages. Online ads can be created and published within minutes; a feat that few other media can rival.

The key factor with each of these approaches is presenting an opportunity to your audience at the optimum point at which they are most likely to buy.  If a marketer can identify the moments when consumers will be most likely to make a purchase or seek more information – and create touchpoints that correlate with those moments -  their online conversion rates will almost certainly increase.

Pay Per Click – 5 Ways to Effectively Attract Buyers

Pay Per Click – 5 Ways to Effectively Attract Buyers

Pay per click (PPC) is the quickest way to send targeted visitors to your website. But before you dive into pay per click advertising, know how the game is played first instead of losing hundreds of dollars for nothing. Below are 5 simple things you can do to create a successful PPC campaign and attract targeted buyers to your website.

5 Ways to Effectively Attract Buyers

1. Your keywords should appear on your URL

Pay per click is a game of keywords. You have spent time on choosing the keywords for your ads but a lot of people neglect displaying the keywords on their URL.

If you’re targeting the keyword ‘profit with adsense’ then your display URL should have this keyword phrase in it. Eg. www.yourdomain.com/profit-with-adsense.html

Visitors looking at your advertisement will see the URL and will assume that the website contains information specifically to what they are searching for.

This will increase the click through rate (CTR) of your pay per click campaigns because Google Adwords for example, will decrease the cost of your clicks if your click through rate is high.

You are getting more clicks for a cheaper price.

2. Test the position of your advertisement

The majority of inexperienced internet marketers will try to bid their clicks for the first position. Various tests have shown that the first position is not the best position. The best positions are 3rd, 4th or 5th.

The reasons are that many visitors will click on the first position and second position. However, for serious buyers (which are the visitors you want to attract) they tend to click on a few more ads because they want to find out more and compare.

So if your PPC ad is on a few positions below the first and second position, it will have more chance of being the last ad they click on. This means they are more likely to buy from you if the offer is better than the previous ones they’ve seen.

3. Test the keywords of your PPC

If you have an ad which is getting a lot of clicks, do not alter it. There are some elements there which are attracting people to click on it. You need to use it as a ‘control’

Create an extra ad and play around with the words that are similar to your ‘control’. You need to continuously try and see if you can beat the CTR of your PPC ‘control’.

Many people make the mistake of altering their “control” and cannot get back the CTR because they forgot what their ‘control’ ad looked like.

4. Your landing page

Once the visitors click on your ad they will see your landing page. This page needs to contain information specifically to what they are searching for. The keywords need to be displayed on the browser’s title and also a headline displaying the keywords is essential.

As soon as your webpage confuses the visitor and they think it is unrelated to what they have clicked on, they’ll leave immediately.

5. Have an email capturing process

No matter if you want to sell your own product or an affiliate product, you need to capture the email address of the visitor on your landing page.

You have paid for the click so now you need a way to communicate with the visitor regularly and have them become your loyal customer. If you’re not capturing email addresses on your landing page then you’re not doing PPC marketing properly.

Pay per click costs money so you need to spend time learning how to maximize your dollars. Using these 5 simple techniques you now have a good chance of creating a successful PPC campaign. However you need to also spend time studying different ways of generating web traffic. I spend my time generating traffic using other techniques which are just as effective as PPC.
