Gateway MX6447 Keyboard Dust Cover, easy to make

I work from home a week at a time. I recently got a new Gateway MX6447 Keyboard at work and loved the “newness” so much i wanted to keep it that way. So I thought of creating a cover for the new Gateway Laptop Keyboard to keep out the dust while I was away. Oh, and I did not want to spend $ $ on it.This Instructable could not be easier and costs next to nothing to make. Most of the materials you have in your desk drawer already.

Creating the “spine” of the Gateway MX6447 Keyboard cover not only gives a way to put it on and remove, it also adds rigidity to the cover. For this step, line both sheets of paper up just as they were in the printer. Eyeball about 1″ from the edge and begin to staple making sure to keep the sheets aligned. Only staple 4-5 inches up from the end. you will need the other half free to move.

Take what you have made so far and lay it on your Gateway MX6447 Keyboard. Line up the paper along the bottom of the laptop keyboard(where your wrists sit). Mark the paper 1″ past where the top of the Gateway laptop Keyboard stops. Take long straight edge (or like me the keyboard) and mark the line you will need to cut. This is all excess and can be thrown away.

Using the same technique as the previous step, measure and mark the edge of the Gateway MX6447 Keyboard side to side. Make sure the Spine is centered on the laptop keyboard. When you have both sides marked, lay the paper flat and fold. Make sure you crease well with your fingernail. For this step you will need to fold the spine over and then fold the back on your mark (Gateway laptop Keyboard edge). Once folded and creased well, cut the spine down to the fold.Tape the flat part front and back.

Once the cut is made. Fold and tape the corner.Once the cut is made. Fold and tape the corner.Lay the cover on the Gateway MX6447 Keyboard and mark the spot where the USB or PS2 cable enters the laptop keyboard.Cut the angle to match the desk and your done!!! Now you can keep your keyboard nice and clean.

Again the materials you will need are: -Your Gateway MX6447 Keyboard -2 11×17 Sheets of Paper-Staples and Stapler-Sissors-Scotch Tape-Pencil/Sharpie The pictures in this Instructable will be very helpful in visualizing what needs to happen. And it would help if you had a large work surface to do this on.

This leather Ipad case has all the features I seek in an Ipad 2 case — full protection (i.e. front, back, and edges), a stand that will work for viewing and typing, an elastic hand strap for hand holding the Ipad, and not too heavy.

The problem with the magnets causing the ipad to go to sleep when the front cover touches the back cover seems to have been solved.

This leather Ipad case is made of PU leather. This is real leather but it is split leather with a polyurethane (thus “PU”) coating. While not just leather, it provides a durable and water resistant case. Some PU leather has been known to crack with age. I have not heard any users complaint of this problem with the Snugg Ipad case. Fro I would take the risk and replace the case in 2 -3 years if need be.

The Amazon Kindle 2 Leather Cover – Using A New Design

The first version of the Amazon Kindle came with a leather case. Unfortunately for most Kindle owners, this leather case was lacking in some functionality and features. Some of the most common complaints were that the cover was flimsy and did not last very long. There were also complaints that the design allowed the Kindle to slip out of the cover. Some people have had experiences with their Kindle sliding out of its cover and hitting the ground, thus damaging the expensive electronic device. The very thing the Kindle cover was supposed to prevent was completely negated by the design. A large percentage of the original Kindle owners ended up getting a brand new cover from a different manufacturer all together.

Other popular manufacturers for the original Kindle were M-edge and Bobarra. There were many different styles and colors offered within these brands that were favorites of the original Kindle owners.

Now that the new Kindle has made its way to the market and there have been a few changes required for Kindle cover designs. Firstly, the new Kindle’s have a completely different design. They are thinner than the original Kindles and therefore the old Kindle covers will not work with the new Kindle covers. Many of the manufacturers of the old Kindle covers have made covers for the Kindle 2 as well.

So what about the Kindle 2 from Amazon? Over 1600 Kindle owners have weighed in on this subject. Well, the biggest difference is that the new Kindle cover made by Amazon is not included with the Kindle electronic reader. Because of this, Amazon can now put some extra cost into creating a higher quality cover. Like the 1st generation covers, the new Amazon Kindle cover is made out of leather. This model seems to be made out of higher quality leather. Amazon also seems to have taken to heart, some of the original Kindle owners have complained about. For one thing, the new cover now secures the Kindle within the cover.

The second thing many people have complained about that seems to have been addressed with the new Amazon Kindle Cover is that it doesn’t add bulk to the new more streamlined model. This is especially important for those that love that new streamlined design

One remaining complaint is that doesn’t seem to have been addressed from the 1st model is that there is no latch to keep the leather cover closed. If you want to have a latch you would need to add one yourself or use a popular solution of using Velcro to keep the leather cover together.

The significant changes in design of the Kindle 2 are enough to warrant a new Kindle cover design. Amazon, amongst other manufactures came out with their own Amazon Kindle 2 leather cover. Overall, it weighs in positively with a few people focusing on what still needs to be done to fully update the cover. The consensus is in. Amazon certainly took several steps in the right direction, but they stopped short on a complete delivery. Even though Amazon stopped short on the delivery in some areas, their new cover is still a worthwhile investment.
