Knowing your audience is a huge factor. If you are selling computer parts, you might not want to appeal to emotions in that type of case. However, knowing your customers makes all the difference. If they just want a place they can count on for the parts they need, appeal to that. You would say something like “parts in stock” and “fast custom ordering”. Be truthful always, of course. Use your website as a web marketing arm. It is your window into the world of the internet if you are supplying helpful, dynamic, optimized information.

Fonts are a set of glyphs or images that represent characters from some particular character set in a particular size and typeface. The fonts term comes from the Middle French fonte, from fondre (meaning to melt or cast) which referred to type produced by casting molten metal at a type foundry. Fonts in printing, sometimes called Fount, are a complete set of type of any one size, with all the usual points and accents; a font consists of about 100,000 characters. In computers, a computer font is an electronic data file which contains a set of glyphs, characters, or symbols such as wingdings. Although the term font first referred to a set of metal type sorts in one style and size, since the 1990’s most fonts are digital and used for computers or computer devices.

There are different font formats – which one should I choose?
OpenType fonts (.OTF) - OpenType is a scalable format for computer fonts that was initially developed by MicrosoftTM, then later joined by AdobeTM Systems. The choice of font format is mostly based on the kind of documents you create and your computer environment. There are three basic categories of font weights: light, regular, and bold. The regular font weight for most typefaces is slightly lighter than medium. Many computer fonts for Microsoft Office, Web and common use come with a normal, regular and a bold weight. They resemble the artistic handwritings of cloisters in the Middle Ages and fall into three groups: Gothic fonts and Old English Text – Of all the blackletter fonts, the Gothic ones most closely resemble the Textura calligraphy used with manual copying of books. A Gothic typeface was thus also carved by Johannes Gutenberg when he printed his 42-line Bible, including a large number of ligatures and common abbreviations. While in Germany, Gothic fonts were quickly displaced, they remained in use in great variance and are frequently also referred to as Old English Text fonts.Schwabacher typefaces were predominant in Germany from about 1480 to 1530. Most importantly, all of the works of Martin Luther, leading to the Protestant Reformation, as well as the Apocalypse of Albrect Durer (1498) were printed in this typeface. 2. Serif Fonts Serif fonts are divided into four font groups: Renaissance – this font type has a slight difference in thickness within each font. This font category includes the BaskervilleTMand Times New RomanTM font families.Classicist – the most variance of thickness with each font. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again ⦠there is no more important step in the SEO process than keyword research.  One could make a compelling argument for link building or for architecture or for copywriting but at the end of the day â ranking highly for keywords that either don’t convert or which you close up shop waiting to rank for isn’t going to help too terribly much so in my opinion â I’d put keyword research higher in importance.  In fact, when I’m building affiliate sites my first step is to look up keywords and competition levels â then I look into products and websites and this method has worked very well indeed.  It insures that I choose keywords that with both convert and that I can rank for in a period of time and with an effort level that matches the return.
So â if you’re doing keyword research, where should you begin? Â Unless you’re an affiliate marketer you already have a product and since you’re the target audience of this article â I’m going to assume that’s the case. Â For the purpose of this article I’m going to pick a hobby of mine and also an area where I don’t have a client and imagine I’m doing keyword research for the imaginary online downhill mountain biking store DH Mountain Bikes.
So Where To Begin …
The first thing one needs to do is try to think up all the possible phrases that might apply.  I call this my seed list ⦠it’s the list of phrases that my research starts with and is generally based on brainstorming.  In this case the list would be:

The keyword tool I generally use first is Google’s keyword suggestion tool. Â There are other great tools but I’ve found Google’s tool to be as accurate as any other, the price is definitely right (free), and they’re very good about providing the information required to know just how wrong the data is if you know where to look. Â So let’s do just that.
Before we begin you’ll need to head over to Google’s keyword tool at https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. Â In the top left (for now) you’ll see a link to a beta version of the tool. Click on the link and you’ll be at the new version of the tool which will provide you easy access to much more information â as long as you know what to look for. Â So let’s begin with our three seed phrases.
When you see the list you’ll first have to know what the numbers are. Â This tool is a tool designed for AdWords and the default number is the Broad match which means it includes every phrase with the term. Â For example, the term “mountain bike” has a broad match total of 2,740,000 which will include “downhill mountain bike”, “mountain bike parts”, “kona mountain bike”, etc. etc. What we want to know is how many searches are for “mountain bike”. Â Down the left-hand side you’ll see a set of check boxes. Â Deselect “Broad” and select “Exact” and you’ll get the Exact match numbers â the number of searches for the exact phrase. Â You’ll quickly see that 2,740,000 drop to 450,000. Â This is how many people searched the GOOGLE SEARCH NETWORK for “mountain bike”. Â Why is this in caps â because it’s so commonly misunderstood that I definitely want your attention brought to it.
This isn’t the number of searches on Google.com â it’s the number of searches on all sites who’s search is powered by Google. Â From YouTube to Beanstalk’s blog search â it’s all in there so the data starts to get skewed from the start. Â Then let’s add in all the automated queries from rank-checking tools and just manual searches from you and your competitors and the data gets further skewed. Â This skewing will exist in all data â the thing I like about using Google is that at least we know more about what’s adjusting the data.
OK â so from there we need to organize the data into a more useful set of information. Â To do this one needs to understand the columns of data. Â The first column is the keyword, the second you’ll see is a link to the term on Google Insights. We’ll get into this later. The next is Global Monthly Searches â this is the average number of searches/mth worldwide. Â This can be helpful in some industries but in ours â I’m only concerned with the US market which is where my imaginary store ships to so I’m more interested in the next column Local Monthly Searches which is the number of searches in the US (or whatever region I’ve specified when entering my keyword phrases). Â This is the data I’m interested in. Â The last column is the search trend. Â This is extremely important but often overlooked. Â It is a column that wasn’t visible by default in the old/current version.
OK â let’s organize our data by search volume. Â Click on the “Local Monthly Searches” and you’ll see the keywords order by descending search volume. Â With this data in front of me I then typically look over to the Trend data to see what I can find there. Â In our case we’re going to see an increase in search volume in the spring and summer. Â This make sense of course. Â Think of your industry and see if the trends reflect what makes sense.
I’m also looking for anomalies. Â Often I’ll see phrases that jump for a single month. Â One has to know that unless there was a news story or other event that would spark interest in a single term or brand â a tool or some other such incident is likely falsifying the data. Â You need to look at these trends and see if they make sense. Â If not â you need to either test the phrases with PPC or just skip over them and select different phrases. Â There’s little worse as an SEO than focusing energies on a phrase only to find that the search volume is not what was expected based on the estimates delivered.
So now what?
So what do you do once you’ve filtered your data down to just what you’re interested in looking into competition levels on. Â Well â the first thing I do is to look to the trends to see if there are any phrases that obviously need to be filtered out. Â In this case there really aren’t any high in the search volume column. Â So the only thing left is to look at the competition levels to see what makes sense. Â For our purposes we’ll be dividing the list and research into two categories:
Major phrases â We need to decide what the long-term goals are going to be and the targets for the main pages. Â These will be the totally generic phrases such as “mountain bike” and “downhill mountain bike” as well as brand or type specific phrases such as “specialized mountain bike” and “full suspension mountain bike”.
Longtail phrases â We also need to look into the types of longtail phrases we’re going to want to target.  In this case I know I’ll want to target specific parts which will require new research.  I will spare you the details there but I’ll end up with specific models of components such as “hayes mx2″.  You don’t need to know what that is  â you need to know the makes and models in your industry (or other longatil opportunities such as “new york hotel with jacuzzi”, etc.)
I generally would gather together a list of 15 or 20 major phrases and 50 or 60 longtail phrases and would then head into the competition analysis to determine which phrases to move forward with.

There are a few other ways to do keyword research online as well. One of my favorite tools are Google keyword tool. You can find this tool by going to Google and typing in “Google Keyword Tool” and following the directions. Your entry should bring up the amount of previous queries for your keywords searched.
Now that you have a few keyword tools the next place to start is the actual leg work.
Here’s a tip…Do you know what the most popular searched word on the Internet is? Everyone’s favorite word – “FREE”
So if you want the most popular terms for a keyword you may want to include the word “free” in front of the actual term. You want to search for the top 3-5 keywords within a particular market. So if you are interested in weight loss, you type in the words “free weight loss”, and there you go. I will use Google Suggest for now.
And here’s the results:
*free weight loss program (7,260,000 queries) *free weight loss diet (7,630,000 queries) *free weight loss equipment (4,050,000 queries) *free weight loss diet plan (1,130,000 queries) *free weight loss diet plans (933,000 queries)
Next step, scroll down in the drop down box to the term the has the most queries “free weight loss diet” (7,630,000 queries) and click on it. Now you have found the top results for that term. The next step is to start clicking on the links. You will see paid results highlighted in yellow and on the right.
Now that you have found the top results for that term you want to do a few things… the first is breakout an Excel spreadsheet and list the term and the and the links of the websites for that term. Do this for each term.
You now have the top sites for the top keywords for that market. Visit each site and look for the “sign up to be an affiliate” link (generally located in the footer) but can be in other places, so you may need to look around.
How many queries constitutes a respectable market?
You will hear many opinions regarding this. Some will say a market with as little as 10,000 queries is adequate to market. I would recommend that you use a tool in WordTracker called “top 1000 searches”. More specifically I would consider the first several “RESPECTABLE” (if you know what I mean) markets to start working from.
