It is pretty much a fact that today; people all over the world are gaining most of their information directly from the Internet.  Some social networking platforms like Twitter or YouTube are filled with kids playing games and having fun in real-time interaction. They can talk about anything and everything.

However, there is also a more serious and even, professional side to social media, too. Where the news is concerned, people from any location can be instantly informed of what is going on, minute-by-minute, about something from another part of the world.

Social media differs greatly from industrial media, such as television and newspapers, by being immediately available and those logged in can interact simultaneously. Industrial media forms require time to prep and more time to distribute, while social media is right at your finger tips anytime.

Both outlets for information (social media and industrial media) are able to reach their targeted markets but one, social media, is incredibly faster. With today’s fast-paced environment, it’s hard for newspapers and television to keep up. Social media is able to keep up with us, which is critical. In regards to web design or web development, social media can provide instant access to new innovations such as software, hardware and coding. Not to mention, it can secure new clients and projects from any location you can think of. If you want your career to grow, or even maintain where you are at this point, having a presence on social media platforms is crucial.

No matter where you are in the world, governments can still regulate media, especially industrial media. However, with social media, it’s much harder to control as it’s available to anyone and anyone can use it. Plus, it is extremely easy to use, it doesn’t require any special skills, and it costs little to nothing to partake, (besides a little time.)
