Office Furniture: Creating a Good First Impression
Office Furniture: Creating a Good First Impression
Having started three successful small businesses, I know how important it is to create a good first impression to clients. Your office is a major selling point for your business and so it needs to create an atmosphere of efficiency and style. The furniture that you select for your office can help achieve this. A website I find useful and have purchased from in the past is desktop2desktop.co.uk – their range of reasonably priced office furniture combines functionality with style and is very well made.
One desk of which I bought several was the Computer Radial Workstation, which I grouped together in our office as a central work hub. They work out at around £130 each and come in a range of four colours (Beech, Maple, Oak and Walnut.) Their curved design means that they can be arranged into several different formations and groups. I found that the Radial Workstation improved the visual dynamic of my office and was a modern approach to the standard desk. My employees are also pleased with them, as they are spacious, with room for both computer work and paper work. There is also ample room underneath the desks for storage – such as the three drawer fixed pedestal, also from desktop2desktop. Two of these can be fitted under the roomy workstation without it seeming cluttered and still allows room to move freely around the desk on your computer chairs. The pedestals are also reasonably priced at £75 and are completely lockable. Their combination of standard and filing cabinet style drawers means that files can be stored neatly without resorting to a separate unsightly cabinet.
Of course, the essential centre point of any office that deals directly with clients is the meeting table – it needs to be functional, practical and impressive. I have had several meetings in my career where a business has decided to create an impression with their meeting table that failed completely; buying Scandinavian concept pieces that would not have looked out of place on the set of Star Trek. These, however, only proved to be uncomfortable and left me glancing at the clock to see how long I had to endure the hard plastic chairs instead of focusing on the deal in question. I much prefer simple understated designs such as desktop2desktop’s Oval Meeting table. This design comes in the same four wood effects as the workstation and pedestal, creating a matching scheme running through your office. It can seat up to eight people without seeming cramped costs just under £200 pounds – not much to pay for a well made and simple design that will last for years. In fact, all products from desktop2desptop come with a 5 year guarantee and most come with a British Standard stamp of approval. When purchasing from their website, any transaction is protx secured and there is free delivery within ten days on all items. I find their website extremely simple to use, with features such as the week’s best buy proving useful. With a sale of up to 50% on at the moment, and also the inclusion of a free box of biscuits with every purchase – something I’m sure will keep all your employees sweet for the day – the website is suited to the owners of small businesses due to their products functionality and affordability.
