Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Review
Dell Inspiron Mini 12 Review
This Dell Netbook was very thin, only 0.9 inch and make the look like Apple MacBook Air. Lightly to take it anywhere you want. This netbook also not slippage when being held because the backend of this netbook is a bit rough. The glossy white cover also not so diligent collecting fingerprint impressions.
Black accents are shown in the direction of the back of the prominent unit, near the hinge, located adjacent to the battery location. Yes, the battery for Dell Inspiron Mini 12 is black, very contrast with the top chassis which have color white milk. In the part of this non glossy black color there is tiny LED that will light up white when the netbook is being switched on or charging the battery.
There are lot’s of thing that look unusual here. First, the display screen with 12.1 inch, high resolution, 1280×800 pixel make me very comfortable when surfing the internet using this netbook even i can opening 2 web page together side by side and reading it with comfort. The words was look normal, not small. The view on the screen also bright and the horizontal perspectives was good enough, enough comfortable to look from the side. However, there will be more better to push back the screen so that the reflection effect is not too felt.
Second, the keyboard is relieved (92% normal keyboard). The distance between the button is width and make me comfort to typing on it. The tuts are soft enough. On the top side, except F1-F10 buttons, there is six key which functioning independently which is F11, F12, Home, Del, Insert and End. The Fn button it self are being located at the right side of the bottom of this netbook. The other thing which feel wide is the touch panel which is little stringy but responsive but because of the wide of the palmrest, sometime the touchpad was occasionally jog with our wrists and suddenly move the cursor.
From the features, Mini 12 was similar with others netbook. There are Wi-Fi 802.11 g, Webcam 1.3 megapixel, card reader 3 in 1, a headphone jack, microphone jack, 3 USB Port, 1 LAN port, VGA Out Port and Kensington Lock. The back and front side of this netbook was clean.
At least when i’m using it, the back end of bottom screen unit which is close with the battery was felt hot but the touchpad and the keyboard was not influenced too much which mean are still comfortable when using this netbook. The bottom of the netbook was only slightly warm. This can be happened maybe because the combination of the wide of netbook surface and low power processor affecting the hot spread.
To make it more friendly, Dell also put Dock on the desktop. This panel show up big icon on the left side of the screen. However the location of the dock can be moved by drag and drop from the desktop or from the Start Menu.
This Dell Inspiron Mini 12 was not different so much with other netbook. More thin but with wide screen and keyboard make this netbook are comfortable to use and easy to take. The adapter which look like a cell phone also very light (178 gram). In short words this netbook was very suitable for anyone who like practice, beauty and the function but do not want being burdened with heavily netbook.
There will be more better if Dell not come with Vista because the processor (Z530) which are being used are less support for Vista and the memory also cannot be upgraded. The 3 cell battery also need 1 hour 52 minutes to fully charge and need to increase with 6 cell battery.
