Dental Advertising, What Demographics Should I Mail to?
Dental Advertising, What Demographics Should I Mail to?
In the case of dental marketing, there always seems to be a strugle over what demographics to choose for a mailing program.
If you are looking for an answer like “you should focus on 25-50 year old women who have an annual income of ,000, live in a house valued over 0,000, and like to golf and travel,” you won’t get it here.
In the case of dental care, instead of demographics, you should first consider psychographics, in other words, what makes a patient decide to go to YOUR practice? For a dental practice, it has been proven that a vast majority of dental patients choose their practice mainly because of its convenient location. It’s a sad but true reality that comes from a lack of public education about what constitutes great dental care.
Also, when creating a mailing list, you need to ask yourself what your practice needs. Many times that doesn’t come down to 25-50 year old women who like to golf; it comes down to patients with money to afford your services.
In both of these cases, the data points to a simple geographic list. There are many things you can get in a simple geographic based list. You can eliminate “unfavorable” neighborhoods, eliminate transient apartment dwellers (not to be confused with condo owners), and not waste money mailing to those who live far out of your area.
If I were to set one demographic parameter, it would be household income. If they make above average income in the area (usually K and above), and live within 5-10 miles of my practice depending on population concentration, they would be on my list.
By creating a demographic selection of list by age and personal interest, you not only are limiting your target audience, but also you are going to pay more money per name and receive less targets. In turn, you will also receive fewer responses. In this case too, we are not figuring in design and copywriting costs for a targeted marketing piece. (If you specifically target your market, you need to take the same care to target your message, and your media as well.)
You also mentioned that you are in an insurance heavy market. Do you take their insurance? If not, do you offer programs as viable insurance substitutes? Many practices I deal with are in a location that does not support who the dentist wants to target. Some are fee for service practices in an insurance market like yours, and get beat to death by the “do you take my insurance?” question.
In a case of demographics, keep it simple. If all you want in your practice is 33-year-old men who own BMW’s, you can have all of them and still have a very small practice. But what you really want is patients in your chairs who have the means to afford the best care you can possibly offer for them. My suggestion would be to go with a radius around your office and an income qualifier.
Using Banner Ads to Your Advantage
Using Banner Ads to Your Advantage
If you have spent any time whatsoever browsing the web, you have definitely come in contact with a banner advertisement (or two, or three…hundred). A banner ad is an announcement that show up on a page as a box containing graphics, bright colors, and infrequently even animation. Underneath this fancy packaging is a hypertext link directing the person that clicks on this banner ad to the advertiser’s website (the whole point of the ad) in order to acquire on a product or even purchase it. A banner ad can be very profitable for business when used and placed effectively, and will be strongly considered as a tool for advertising your product or as a part of your affiliate program advertising.
If not extraordinarily skillful ( and possess no desire to be) with code writing, there’s software available on the internet to help design your own banner ad. Plenty of these software options are essentially net-based and free to use. By following step by step instructions, it is easy to come up with your own banner announcement to your specs. Make it crowd pleasing, yet easy, as too busy a design will not represent you or your product or service best. Ensure the link works properly, allowing all who click it to be directed precisely where you want them to go.
Now that you have designed your banner announcement, you want to do a little blue-skying and research to find the best placement so that you can drive the most customers interested in your product to your site. Thinking about your product, there would most probably exist forums, chat rooms, and boards where those that is curious about a purchase would gravitate. For instance, if you have invented a fantastic product for nursing mas, there exist plenty of sites online that are dedicated to mummies who nurse their youngsters. This is a superb starting point. If they appear reasonable, and you’re feeling sure that a large amount of traffic runs through this actual site, you are ready to go. If not, it is time to consider another site for your banner advertisement. If you can afford to do more than one, by all means, do so to extend your odds of sales and profits.

Easy Web Design Software
Easy Web Design Software
Developing a successful website that you’re proud of is not as hard as you may think. Especially nowadays, because there is software available that takes on much of the work that used to be relegated to the webmaster (which is you!).
In the past, in order to build web pages from scratch, you had to know HTML, or “Hyper Text Markup Language.” And truth be told, you are still better off knowing at least the basics of HTML. Nevertheless, it’s not required. Especially if you find easy web design software that does the main work takes care of this for you. Now, every single HTML editor on the planet now features a “WYSIWYG” interface. (What You See Is What You Get.) So, theoretically, you shouldn’t have to know the first thing about HTML tags.
The truth is, however, not all HTML editors (or “web design software”) does WYSIWYG well. Little annoying problems tend to crop up. For example, say you typed the following sentence using your handy HTML editor:
“Discover the best places to SCUBA dive in the Cayman Islands.” Say you want “best places” to be italicized and “Cayman Islands” to be bolded. Here’s what’s supposed to happen:
Behind the scenes, your HTML editor is supposed to ‘type’ the phrase as such: Discover the best places to SCUBA dive in the Cayman Islands. (Extra spaces were added between the tags for this example, in order to keep the article publishing software from handling it like normal HTML.)
But instead, this is what you get: “Discover the best places to SCUBA dive in the Cayman Islands.” Even though you highlighted the words “best places” and clicked the little graphical icon on your html editor’s toolbar that represented italics, your phrase comes out non-italicized. And your bolded words are not bolded.
Well, in this instance, you’d have to go to the “Source View” of your HTML editor and manually insert the above HTML tags to make these things happen. This is a very annoying problem with too many popular web design software titles nowadays.
Another problem that will have you pulling your hair out, is seeing a totally different result in the web browser than you see in your HTML editor window. For example, your formatting changes are (apparently) taking effect as you type–just as it should (remember it’s advertised as WYSIWYG)…
However, they don’t show up when you publish the page to the internet! I don’t know why, but this problem still plagues most web design software to this day.
Lucky for you, there are a few (very few) good software titles that work for cheap, while doing all the other things to make your site professional and (if you want) draw visitors by the hundreds.
Why an Advertising Agency needs to know Social Media
Why an Advertising Agency needs to know Social Media
Itâs not too late to teach an old dog new tricks. There are plenty of advertising agencies that still donât get social media or donât want to get it. Itâs the Fear Factor â fear of the unknown, fear of change, fear of losing their clientâs business, etc. Whatever the fear – they better overcome it fast.
Advertising Agencies
According to a recent TNS Media survey that asked more than 60 marketers in North America, France and the U.K. how their advertising agencies were navigating in the world of social media, the overwhelming response was, “Agencies don’t get it.”
Clients are putting more and more emphasis on social media but their agencies are not helping them. Clients complained that their agencies typically treat social channels like traditional media. In other words, their ideas are not backed up by practical skills in the area.
“I think traditional ad agencies have very little contribution to make,” Bryan Simkins, a marketing specialist at FedEx, told TNS. “They are mostly driven by their compensation models which are made for closed media. Those models don’t apply in open media.”
Jim Nail, chief marketing officer at TNS who conducted the survey, said: “You get the sense that agencies talk a good game. They put up a good presentation about what social media is, but when you get to implementing campaigns, the day-to-day management skills are not meeting the marketers’ expectations.”
The future of advertising is two-way, not one-way like so many traditional advertisers are used to. This will haunt ad agencies as more clients make social media a top priority â and put a lot of them out of business.
On The Right Track
All is not lost. Here are a few ways a traditional advertising agency can change their thinking fast:
Nearly 50 percent of the marketers who were polled in the TNS survey said social media efforts need to be handled at an executive level with “significant” resources.
An agency needs to do more than learn the etiquette of social media. It needs to make sure that everything from comments to blog posts to videos not only adds value, but does so with the kind of cleverness and creativity that will make it stand out.
Adapt new business models. Ad agencies are poorly structured to help clientâs leverage opportunities with communities of shared interests. If they apply old models they can do more harm than good.
Stop being everything to everybody. You wonât appeal to everybody in your social media efforts so define your niche market and focus on that.
If your product or service is good â social media is great. If your product or service is bad, nothing is going to help â not even social media.
Finally, use social media to promote your agency. Social media forces your agency to do business the way it should have been done before social. It is about your audience, not about your agency. It forces you to lead with your core benefits and values. The minute you start to âsell your agencyâ you will lose your audience.
Carolyn Holliday, e-marketing manager at Fila USA, sums it up like this: “I really think that ad agencies need to focus heavily on how they can build excitement within the live space of the Internet. Outside of just placing ads, they need to start dialogues with existing and potential customers.”

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) vs Natural Rankings
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) vs Natural Rankings
Pay-per-click, also known as paid inclusion, is a system where you place bids for search result position. You make a bid so that keyword searches will include your site. The more you bid, the better your site is placed. The #1 slot in search results might, for instance, be .75 a click, but the #4 spot may only be 5 cents.
Natural Rankings: Here’s what you want to happen: You want your website to show up on the first or second page of a search engine’s results each time a user performs a search using keywords or keyword phrases. Unfortunately, it takes a substantial amount of time to optimize your website, or expense to employ a company which specializes in search engine optimization. The advantage of Natural Rankings is that the listings on any standard search engine are free. One disadvantage, however, is that a significant amount of time and work is needed to reach exceptional search engine ranks.
PPC Terminology:
Click-through: After signing up for the search engine’s PPC program, every time someone clicks on your link in their list of search engine results, you are charged the amount of your bid. This is known as a click-through.
Impressions: An impression is a one-time showing of your advertisement when an engine is searched.
Important Note
Budgeting: You will see that it is expensive to purchase a high ranking. These charges accumulate after a while and can be quite substantial.
Fast Results: One great thing about pay-per-click is that is lets you to make your website highly visible and achieve high rankings within as quickly as one day. Pay-per-click is a great way to get traffic fast.
Summary: Your website’s ranking and flow of traffic increases significantly using pay-per-click. Thus you will be able to:
Quickly figure out how marketable your product or service is. Decide upon your website’s ability to convince visitors to do something or buy something. Figure out the keywords or keyword phrases that give you the quickest, best conversion (sales) rate. Be able to control your search engine position and how much it costs.
The Bottom Line
A lot of people don’t like the costs inherent in pay-per-click systems. Consider the alternative: Unless there is someone in your business who has knowledge and experience in search engine optimization, you are likely to end up paying several thousand dollars to a specialist for his or her services to optimize your website.

The Right Internet Advertising Company Can Explode Your Business
The Right Internet Advertising Company Can Explode Your Business
Are you new to marketing on the Internet? Looking for the best internet advertising company that will give you the results that you desire where your ads are seen and read is essential. There are literally thousands of online advertising companies to choose from. Making the right choice is what this article is all about.
There are a number of different ways to advertise online and hundreds of online Internet advertising companies that provide these services for the Internet marketer. Before we look at the internet advertising companies, here are some various advertising methods.
There are text ads, banner ads, top sponsor ads, classified ads and of course email advertising.
Email advertising, is one of the most popular ways to market online, but how is it done and whom do you send these emails to? With email advertising, it is best to write your emails in a certain format, in other words, since most people online are getting bombarded with offers every day. Your email must stand out from all the others.
Getting the subject line right is the first step. without a great subject line the reader won’t even open the email, so make it as interesting and different as you can. Once your prospect does open the email, continue with the curiosity to keep them reading and make sure to put a call to action at the bottom of the email body. People need to be told what to do so make sure you tell them to click on your website link or sign up on the form or whatever the action you want them to take is.
Who do you send your emails to really is the big question. You should be aware that you couldn’t just randomly send emails to anyone without their permission as that is considered spam and could get your IP shut down along with some pretty hefty fines.
So then, there are alternatives. You can create a sign up form on your website to capture interested parties email addresses in your auto responder. This however can be somewhat slow but is something that you should start doing anyway.
If you want to start sending email ads right away, you can joint venture with another marketer that already has a large list, or you can use what are called solo ads that send out to safe lists. Simply do a search for solo ad companies or JV partners to find one that suits your needs and is responsive to your inquiries.
Classified advertising can be pretty lucrative if you use keywords in the ad title and several times in the ad body. The trick is to get your classified ad onto page one in the search engines. To do this takes a little research on your part. By using a keyword selection tool like the one Google offers for free, you can locate keyword phrases that are not too competitive and use those keywords in your classified ads. Look for less than 200,000 search results in your keywords.
You should use an Internet advertising company for your classified ads that is highly ranked such as usfreeads.com. While having your main targeted keyword in the title of your ad is important, using it several times in your ad body will get search results on the first page in a few hours and up to several days. With this method, you will see more and more visitors to your site.
Try to place ads every day with slight variations of the original keywords. By doing this, you will see results on the first and second page of Google for lots of your ads.
Placing unlimited classified ads which renew automatically is what us free ads is all about. For less than a month, you can submit an unlimited number of classified ads and have them renew every month. This is automation at a very small cost.
Text ads and banner ads can be placed in most safe lists to be shown all over their website in a rotation type system. Top sponsor ads are usually available and are installed into all the emails that are sent by the safe list administrator.
You will be required to join the safe list prior to advertising with them so you should contact each safe list owner if possible to see if they offer text, banner and top sponsor ads. Look for safe lists that have over ten thousand members and that is updated regularly. The larger the membership the better your results will be.
In closing, be sure to locate an Internet advertising company that you feel comfortable with by actually talking to a company representative. You should also talk to some of the people that are already using the advertising to find out what kind of results they are getting.
If the Internet advertising company you are considering placing ads with cant provide you with the information you require, move on to another one that can. And lastly, don’t give up on your search for that one Internet advertising company that gives results. The Internet is a huge market. Take advantage of it.
