Integration Options for Microsoft Great Plains – Overview
ERP is typically considered as the platform, open for custom integrations, software development, reporting, EDI. Implementation and deployment requires interoperability with multiple computer systems, including legacy applications. Microsoft Dynamics GP, current version 10.0 as of October 2007, has excellent chances to fit your mid-size and even large corporate business requirements. However as you can expect MS Dynamics GP implementation scope goes beyond the software installation, beginning balances entry and users training, we would like to arm you with some initial knowledge about Microsoft Great Plains integration scenarios and options:
1. Great Plains Integration Manager. This tool is very powerful and it is not difficult to get training and become IM professional and support various integrations within your organization as the member of IT team. If you as programmer have VB and VBA skills, IM opens new horizons of integration opportunity for you: you can extend integrations with VBA scripts, allowing you to intercept standard integration logic and. Example â you can change integrated invoice date, based on integration date â make it, letâs say be the first day of the following week. The most popular scenario is when IM works with text tab delimited files, however you can build integration on ODBC connection. Classical example of IM question is how to build integration for GL transactions, based on one file? If you familiarize yourself with grouping techniques, you will get this job done. Sometimes we hear low performance complains â IM in some of its integration components is OLE server, using GP workstation to do the job behind the scenes, this why performance might be disappointing. If IM is too slow for your requirements, read further
2. eConnect integrations. If you are GP user, eConnect is not for you, it is for Microsoft Visual Studio developers: C#, VB is not really important, as you can call eConnect stored procedures from all .Net languages. If IM performance is the concern, eConnect should be doing faster integration, however do not expect things to be 100% perfect: eConnect sort of replicates Microsoft Dexterity business logic in its encrypted stored procedures. Dex is cursor based tool and eConnect has in some cases cursor-oriented logic
3. SQL Stored Procedures. When you need âimmediateâ transaction processing, both IM and eConnect might be too slow, in this case you kind of drop eConnect business logic validation (restricting your transaction to few simple patterns) and create simplified stored procedures, allowing you to integrate transactions with GP database
4. Posting Server. Albaspectrum Posting Server allows you to break through eConnect restrictions to post GP batches and post batches directly from your eCommerce application

Basically, search engine optimization is a study of tweaking the websites to be ranked higher for the chosen keywords. Depending on the area of niche the company is in, for more details visit to www.sell-using-the-web.com choosing certain keywords that have high search volume and at the same time low competition, the company can easily rank at top ten results of major search engines. For example, there may be a lot more people searching for the word “boat”, but interested buyers or people will search for a more specific keyword like “used boats in Canada”. In this case, if you have a business that is selling second hand boats in Canada, you will of course aim to optimize for this set of keywords. Using tools from Google, for more details visit to www.outsource-beginners.com you can easily know other nearer keywords that you can optimize, the trick is to aim for the first keyword, once the website is shown on page one of Google, proceed to optimize for other similar keywords, for example “used houseboats in Ontario Canada”.They are already searching for what they are specifically looking for, if you can provide that, it’s targeted and interested prospects visiting your websites.Building links is another trick in getting higher rankings in search engines, it works something like voting. Google Reader: in Review
Google Reader has evolved into a powerful newsreader. Despite a plethora of competitors GReader stands out based on functionality and price (FREE). Newsgator recently opened their product up for free to consumers as well. Many consumer love the newsgator line but the stand-out difference is that GReader is a full online application (of course) whereas Newsgator is a standalone installable app.
Google Reader is easy to use. Browse to google.com/reader and login with your gmail account. The easiest way to get started is to import an existing feed or collection of rss feeds. GReader can import any opml file under settings – import. In my case I had used a netvibes.com page for quite some time. Helpfully over at netvibes they allow adding pre-defined collections of feeds (tabs in their lingo) to your page which others have submitted. This is very easy to do and convenient. Since I already had 7 or 8 tabs added I exported those into an opml file – then imported directly into GReader.
Tabs from netvibes are imported as tags in GReader. Google continues the trend of using folders and tags interchangeably. Feeds can be subscribed to multiple tags. The interface is a snap to use – Folder list with feeds on the left, content pane on the right.
‘Add Subscription’ allow the user to type any blog/website name or the actual rss link. Feed will be added right away with no tag.
Click on any feed and ‘feed settings’ option allows for applying tags, subscribing and unsubscribing. As you scroll down the content pane of any feed GReader automatically marks that article as read. Unread articles show up in bold in the feed pane. Users can choose ‘mark all read’ in any feed to update all.
Anything with an RSS feed can be added to GReader. This can be deceivingly powerful and doesn’t just limit you to blogs. I’ve setup ebay listings, craiglist search results and even job searches to show up in my Reader based on the RSS feed available on each.
One of the most powerful (and untouted) features of Google Reader is that it saves the data for you. This means that you can add a whole slew of feeds, organize them at will – and then use the ever-available search to sift thru all of the data without needing to hit the live site(s).
This can be a great research tool – as well as an organization one. Since I’ve switched to GReader the time savings has been immense. Instead of flipping thru bookmarks, news sites and blogs I scan quickly thru the updated sites and can focus my time on the content that I truly need or am interested in. If I happen to miss something or don’t have time to catch up, it will be right there for me when I’m ready.
I’ve found that I don’t need to bookmark nearly as many sites as previously – they now wait for me in Reader.
Another of my favorite features – Google Reader Mobile. That’s correct – I can pull up google.com/reader on my phone and flip thru all of the same content. This makes my cumbersome phone browser suddenly useful. Instead of fighting to type in URLS and sites that do not fit on the mobile browser, the content is served up easily and organized just as I like.
Adding a bit of social flair google allows for all feeds and links to be shared publicly or with friends via ‘your shared items’. I am sure google will try to increase this functionality over time as it would position competitively with many other social bookmarking sites. Trends are also viewable and available (of course – this is Google) where you can see which feeds you spend time on, what you read, etc.
Thru the magic of Google Gears you can even take your Reader info offline with you. Install Gears and GReader allows you to sync the last 2000 articles offline – cached on your local system. In my mind this answers many of the original criticisms of the online Reader. When you connect again it syncs and marks the Read/Unread count as necessary.
All in all a terrific application. And for the price – how could you beat it. Google scores another win for usefulness and assuming they continue to upgrade and improve they’ve got a sure winner.

Gift Horses, Scrooges and the Small Child Within ( The Simple Marketing Power of Promotional Gifts )
for the most effective tools and methods for marketing in this so-called Internet Age. What tools, what methods should an Internet marketer be using to bring in the most traffic and the most sales?Internet marketing techniques have always fascinated me. For years I have been searching Since becoming a full-time online marketer around four years ago, that question has taken on much more significance because my very livelihood depends upon it. Not only that, discovering the most effective marketing tools and methods has really become my full-time job. It’s what I do!I spend my work-days testing different marketing techniques, trying out new ways of gathering traffic, and trying every new tool or gadget I can get my hands on. I have spent a small fortune on web marketing info-products, different web marketing tools; not to mention all the companies who have asked me to check out their products for free.Over the years, some very simple concepts or methods of marketing online have proven the most effective for me. They have proven so valuable I use them on all of my sites. Simple effective techniques that work. What are these marketing techniques?Actually, they are nothing new, marketers have been using these methods for hundreds of years. It all centers around the idea of gift-giving and the promotional gift. Companies have always found the idea of giving small promotional gifts to their present and future clients to be a very effective way of marketing.Like countless other online marketers, I have perfected this practice of giving promotional gifts to increase my targeted traffic and to boost my sales. It is a very simple marketing technique any website owner or online marketer can use to achieve the same results.I believe a very detailed description of my own promotional gifts and how I effectively use them in my online marketing would prove helpful to you. Then you can look at what I have done and model the same marketing techniques with your own niche or website.First, you have to briefly understand the psychology behind gift-giving and gifts. There’s no denying it, we all like free gifts. We all like receiving gifts mainly because we all have been hot-wired or conditioned to receiving gifts since we were two years old and up. Getting a gift never fails to put a smile on our faces or a warm feeling in our hearts. Corny as that may sound, it is nonetheless very true for the majority of the non-scrooge humans living on the planet. We are all still that small child receiving a gift.We simply love getting gifts. However, I believe many marketers, including many small website owners, (maybe even you, highly appreciated reader) fail to realize the marketing power of these small promotional gifts. It can be a truly effective way of promoting and marketing your site or product. One that every marketer should be using.Nor should you underestimate the power of giving away free gifts to your site’s visitors; it can be an effective way of branding your name and for acquiring repeat customers. Especially on the web where you sometimes only have a few seconds to make contact or engage a visitor; so handing out a free gift is often an excellent way of making a first good impression with your visitor and potential client/customer.It is a marketing tactic I use with all my sites. I try to give them something of real value, or perceived value in the eye of the receiver – something of high quality that they will appreciate and remember. Of course, that something also has my site’s URL and Logo on it; calling visitors back to my site, time and time again. That’s why on many of my sites you will see a Free Desktop Calendar that visitors can download and place on their computer desktop; this is a simple software program consisting of an ecalendar and daily planner which contains my site’s information, logo/message, plus a direct link back to my site. Something simple, practical and my visitors like and use it; I get tons of emails from these calendar users telling me how much they enjoy it.A simple promotional gift that works. My own simple virtual version of the fridge magnet!Another effective marketing tactic I use with most of my sites is the giving away of free guides. These are simple handy guides (in PDF or EXE file format) that I pass out to my visitors – to anyone who wants one. These guides can even be re-branded so that your visitors can pass them out for you; creating a viral gift that keeps on giving. An extremely easy way to build your list of potential customers for your products. Anyone can create these guides and give them out to your visitors. Just use Google Docs to make the PDF files of your Favorite Tips, How-To Articles, Special Reports or Buyers’ Guides… you may be totally amazed at how effective these free promotional gifts can be to your marketing.Since everything is in video format these days, creating free How-To-Videos is within everyone’s reach. These videos can have a viral effect and land up on countless sites all over the web. If you’re like me and lack the Spielberg gene, you can always use the videos made by your affiliate companies and promote these on your sites. Free videos work great as promotional gifts, especially if you can embed them with your affiliate links. In the same way, I also like using re-branding software so that your visitors can re-brand these promotional products and make them their own. Also you can purchase software that will allow you to have Pop-up Forms and Subscription Boxes on PDF files – very useful for list building and boosting traffic back to your site. I use PDF Pop-Up Pro for this. But most of all, my favorite promotional tool is the handy little buyer’s guide. I especially like giving away free Buyer’s Guides of the products I am promoting, mainly because you know these are the targeted group (potential buyers) who are at the right stage in the marketing process – when they’re seriously considering buying the product. You get their attention at the most opportune time.It makes for very smart marketing. These helpful buyer’s guides are in reality, very effective promotional gifts that will increase your traffic and sales. Again, you can use PDF or EXE formats for these guides, another option which I occasionally use is to deliver this buying guide in 6 or 7 follow-up emails. This accomplishes two important objectives of my online marketing: it builds my lists of potential customers and it also lets me “cookie” all these potential buyers with my affiliate IDs. If you’re new to online marketing, cookies are used to mark your customers as your referrals, these cookies can last anywhere to a few days up to a lifetime; when a customer buys within that time frame, you get credit for the sale. The savvy online marketer will use promotional gifts as a way of tagging the receiver as their cookied referral. If you can’t create your own guides, reports, articles… there are tons of free ebooks, instructive videos, and how-to products on the web that you can use. Many of the major affiliate companies and marketers will provide these gifts (re-branded with your affiliate IDs) for you to hand out to your site’s visitors.Promotional gifts in the virtual world can take on all these different disguises: downloadable software programs, ebooks, articles, special reports, How-to-Videos, buying guides… and the list goes on. Don’t overlook this simple way of marketing. Instead, use these promotional gifts and techniques on your own site or with your own products. A proven method of increasing both your brand recognition and your sales.Basically, what you’re doing is taking the old concept of the promotional gift that has been around for centuries such calendars, pens, mugs, fridge magnets… and applying this concept to your website or online marketing. Of course, you can still use these (real world) trinkets to promote your site and products, but don’t forget about the virtual online version such as desktop software, ebooks, special reports, buyer’s guides, viral videos… these can prove very effective marketing tools in this brave new online world.Don’t look a gift horse in the mouth, instead, ride it all the way to the bank. Discover the true effectiveness of online promotional gifts for yourself and you will quickly reap the rewards.

How to Quickly and Easily Find Telecom Information Using Internet Search Engines
The development of the Internet has enabled almost anyone access to virtually every piece of information known to human civilization. A few key strokes and mouse clicks can uncover practically any compilation of information you desire – and have it delivered directly to your desktop computer or laptop.
Google and other search engines such as Yahoo and MSN are constantly updating search algorithms to provide relevant search results to billions of Internet users across the globe. But as good as these search engines have become, a vast number of Internet users still find searching the Internet to be a slightly frustrating and daunting task.
Having the extent of human knowledge at your fingertips does not always result in finding what you want. For example, a Google search for the term “telecommunications” brings up a whopping 109,000,000 results!
No one has the time or patience to sift through that much information. Fortunately, there are simple search tricks that you can use right now to quickly and easily find telecommunications (or any other) information.
How to Search Using Quotes, Parentheses, Positives and Negatives
Google, MSN and Yahoo have allowed for “shortcuts” within their search engine structure to help users narrow down the search results they provide. Making internet search a more friendly experience requires users to know just a few.
The most basic of these shortcuts are the use of quotations, positives and negatives. Used in conjunction with search phrases, these commands help zero in on relevant search results very quickly.
For example, say you want to search the Internet using the term: voip phone system. Entering those words into Google returns over 45,000,000 results. Placing quotations marks around these same words tells Google to search by “phrase”, not just the individual words themselves. Searching by phrase narrows this search to just over 1 million results.
Adding positives (+) and/or negatives (-) to a search term will help focus search results even more. For example, if you would like to find a VoIP phone system from Cisco and not Packet 8, you would type: “voip phone system” +cisco -packet 8
The minus (-) sign eliminates any search results that refer to Packet 8, and include all search results that contain Cisco.
If finding VoIP phone systems from EITHER Cisco OR Packet 8 is desired, it is best to use the either/or command (parentheses) in your search. Keep in mind that all of these commands are completely interchangeable and can be used in conjunction with each other depending on how specific you would like search results to be returned. A search for a VoIP phone system by either Cisco or Packet8, but NOT Ebay listings would require entering this into Google: “voip phone system” (cisco, packet
-ebay
These simple tricks will save you hours of time and considerable frustration when searching for exactly what you want. The following are more ways to find specific file types and information from only ONE website – without even having to go that website to search.
How to Search for Specific File Types of Information
For the most part, Google returns search results in the form of web pages (html) or “sites” where the information resides. Although they are getting better at including file types other than html pages into their search results (e.g. PDF, mpg, mp3, .doc, .xls), they are still years away from being intuitive enough to know exactly the type of files you are searching for when you enter a search phrase. The best way to help Google return what you want is to tell it what file type you desire.
For example, there are literally thousands of white papers written on almost every telecom topic imaginable. Vendors shell out big bucks to develop informative and comprehensive white papers on a variety of telecom topics, primarily for marketing purposes. The majority of these documents are not thinly disguised sales pitches however. More often than not they are chalked full of highly informative content. White papers come in very handy when researching and/or learning about a specific telecom topic.
To find these available telecom white papers with ease, simply enter filetype:pdf after your search phrase. If you are searching for a white paper on the topic of “voip phone systems” your search phrase in Google would require this: “voip phone systems” filetype:PDF
Google returns 358 results as of this writing.
Not specific enough?
Try entering allintitle: before the search term. This will tell Google to only return PDF files that contain “voip phone systems” in the TITLE of the document. This search brings up only six results.
Use this trick to find other file types such as Word files (doc), mp3s (mp3) and even Excel files (xls). A search for VoIP phone systems in Word document format would require: “voip phone systems” filetype: doc An Excel spreadsheet file would require: “voip phone systems” filetype:xls
How to Search Only One Website
Many websites contain search features that allow visitors to search for topics within that website alone. But what if you want to search for a topic on one specific site and the site contains no search capabilities on it?
Use the site: command directly into Google search fields.
For example, say you want to quickly search mobiletracker.net (a popular and massive cell phone blog) for anything to do with Nextel in the title of the blog post – but you do not want anything to be returned with word “Motorola” in the title. This Google search would require entering the following search string:
allintitle:Nextel site:mobiletracker.net -Motorola for a total of 93 search results.
Let Google Come To You Using Google “Alerts”
It is now possible to let Google search come to you via email when information is added to the Internet that contains a topic or phrase that interests you. Introducing: Google Alerts. Google Alerts is a free service that allows you to inform Google of a topic or phrase that you desire to be continuously kept up to date. Google will then send you an e-mail when anything is added to the Internet that contains that topic or search phrase.
You will need a Google account (free) to set up these alerts, but once you do, information on your topic will be sent to you at the time intervals you desire – daily, “as it happens”, or weekly. You can also specify where you want this information to come from: the web, news, blogs, video, Google groups or a comprehensive search of any and all of them.
When setting up your Google alerts, be very specific using the methods covered in this newsletter. Use the commands allintitle, quotations, positives and negatives wherever possible. By doing so, you will not only cut down on the amount of emails you receive, but they will be tightly focused and on topic as well.
The Internet contains a vast array of telecommunications information just waiting to be found and used for your benefit. Spend just a few minutes a day honing your Internet search skills and the payoff will be well worth it.

5 Things to Consider Before Starting a Work at Home Internet Marketing Business
These days, the internet is flooded with work at home businesses. In fact, if you type, “work at home business” into Google, you’ll get 372 MILLION results! With so many possibilities, how do you know which is the right one?
Here are 5 things to consider before starting a work at home internet marketing business. You can have other work at home jobs that have nothing to do with internet marketing (such as data entry or call center jobs), but if you really want to own a business and not just a job, you are going to want to have an internet marketing business.
1. What are you going to sell? – First things first, if you are going to be an internet marketer, you need something to market. Really, there are only two options: sell something you have or sell something someone else has.
2. If you’re going to sell something you have, how are you going to do it? – Again, there are only 2 real options. You are either going to sell your good or service straight up, or you are going to have other people sell it for you. Either way, the marketing techniques will be the same (articles, ads, websites, etc.), but if you are going have affiliate sellers, you should provide them with a generous amount of materials to use in selling your product.
3. If you’re selling someone else’s product, what is it going to be? – Selling other people’s stuff essentially means you are going to be an affiliate for someone else’s business. You want to pick a product that has high relevancy, but not too much competition. The key is to find a hot niche.
4. How much money do you want to make? – If you set your financial goal upfront, then you know what you have to shoot for (e.g., how many sales you need to make). Whatever goal you set, you need to be committed to following through with whatever it takes to reach that goal. Nothing is impossible if you put your mind to it, but you have to truly believe that you can do it and act accordingly.
5. How many hours do you want to work? – Conventional knowledge says that the more you work, the more money you will make. That is not necessarily true in internet marketing. This consideration is really about strategy. You need to determine what your plan of attack is and how you can implement that plan in a smart, efficient way. Research methods of automating your business, and you’ll be amazed at how little time it actually takes to make money.
This article presents some basic things to consider before starting a home-based internet marketing business. It is easy to just say you are going to have a work from home internet marketing business and just jump into it. However, by considering what has been presented here beforehand, you can save time and money on the backend.

3 High-Tech Features Of The Apple Iphone
What’s the big deal behind the Apple iPhone? It’s expensive. It’s revolutionary. But are its features worth the money?
With all the popularity, you can assume everyone’s at least heard about it. What does the Apple iPhone feature and what can it do?
#1: Multi-Touch Technology
The most outstanding feature is the iPhone’s radical multi-touch screen. The MT screen allows any mechanical button to appear on this high tech toy. It simply allows you to use your fingers to operate it. This is contrary to any other phone today, which either have mechanical keyboards or a stylus.
By tapping the screen with your finger, you can navigate menus, dial phone numbers, write e-mail messages and likewise use the whole functionality of the popular gadget. The three-point-five-inch screen displays a keyboard for inputting text via multi-touch. Most consumers are seemingly skeptical about typing with the virtual keyboard, but Apple has predicted the common problems and has made sure the iPhone was constructed with features like automatic spell check and word prediction, not to mention an enhanced customizable dictionary. More so, the iPhone addresses the problems of typos commonly known to multi-touch usage by adding self-correction capabilities.
When scrolling, the usual wheel is not found at the side of the gadget. The multi-touch screen functionality allows its owner to scroll by dragging a finger in the desired direction. The speed of scrolling is designed to be proportional to the speed at which you drag your finger.
The multi-touch feature furthermore enables several more functions like multi-touch sensing for magnifying or reducing photos and even web pages. Using this feature, you can regulate object size simply by placing two fingers at the side of the object and then moving them, by dragging, either further apart or closer to one another. This feature does not distort images because images are initially scaled according to its original dimensions in the first place.
Hands down, the iPhone is more intelligent than any other phone today.
#2: Revolutionary Sensors
The gadget’s sensors have the ability to detect changes to the iPhone’s environment. The sensors are minuscule yet absurdly powerful. The three major sensors include an accelerometer, sensor for ambient light, and a proximity sensor.
The accelerometer sensor conveys the ability to detect any changes in the iPhones positioning. …The iPhone’s screen display will actually rotate to portrait or landscape, while still packing its contents into the 3.5-inch screen. Because it changes the view according to ratio, images are not distorted among web pages, videos, or photos.
The proximity sensors.
These high-tech features detect the location of the iPhone with regard to the skin. When you make a call and hold the iPhone up against your ear, the display will automatically set to standby. This is important in that it serves two basic functions.
One, by shutting off the display when not necessarily needed, this saves your battery’s life. More so, this avoids accidental touches to the screen, which would otherwise be sensitive. As soon as the cell is moved away from your face, the proximity sensors react in this way.
Ambient light sensor.
