Graphic Design: a Form of Visual Communication

Graphic design is a creative process that combines art and technology to communicate ideas. The designer works with a variety of communication tools in order to convey a message to a particular audience.

If you want to announce or sell something, persuade someone, you have a message you want to communicate. You could tell people one by one or broadcast by radio or loudspeaker. That’s verbal communication. But if you use any visual medium like- if you make a poster; type a letter; create a business logo means you are using a form of visual communication called graphic design.

Common uses of graphic design include magazines, advertisements, product packaging and web design. A product package might include a logo or other artwork, organized text and pure design elements such as shapes and color which unify the piece. Composition is one of the most important features of graphic design especially when using pre-existing materials or different elements. How you present your company to your chosen market is fundamental to its success.

There are four important elements that should be seen in every logo design:

• It must be describable
• It must be memorable
• It must be effective without color
• It must be scalable

The graphic design process is important to any business. Many companies never change their logo design dramatically but only make the smallest of changes to keep the design looking modern and refreshed.

Benefits of Graphic Design :

• Professional image
• Considered and long-lasting design strategy
• Make your company look bigger
