A very good machine. Very cute design, ergonomic keyboard. Slow as hell – it’s not the product’s drawback, but the platforms overall. I’m definitely going to get 2G of memory, otherwise there is disk activity all the time that slows down the machine. Haven’t been able to achieve good video performance – low fps, spotty – tried in all browsers (IE, Firefox, Chrome). Installed Windows 7 64-bit on it just for fun – supposedly besides addressing 4G+ of memory (which is not applicable) it also manages the memory better. After only 3 weeks of use the Escape key gets stuck for no reason (no spill, nothing) – ordered a replacement.

Great value netbook. Asus developed the netbook . We started with their triple ‘e’ 7″ a few years ago. That served its purpose very well; a easy to use web machine to be used by my wife in the family room. Virtually no memory and the Linux operating system was a very good entre into netbooks. That little computer got a ton of use by everyone in the family. Alas, its time drew to an end as the limited memory and the inability to upgrade the operting system plus the small screen finally became too much to bear. Then along comes the Asus 1001. Addresses all the issues, and everyone is delighted. It has a nice shell. Overall fit and finish is generally good, though there are a few minor fit issues. Nothing major. It’s Windows. Enough said. Linux was a lot easier to run and maintain, but what are you going to do? For a few bucks under 0 it is a great value, and if you are looking for a light, inobtrusive, general use web machine, it really hits a home run.

Surprisingly good little netbook

My wife wanted something for surfing/email/etc, so I told her that I would find a good deal on a netbook and get here one. I have always wanted a netbook,….after I found out they came in pink of course. When I finally decided to make this dream a reality I googled not just “netbook” but “pink netbook” until i found one that had enough technilogical integrity to justify such a frivilious purchase, and voila! the asus eee 1001p…pretty on the outside, with all the right stuff inside….because after all, i guess it is what’s in the inside that counts.

Best notebook BANG FOR YOUR BUCK. We just bought a travel trailer to start cruising the highways and byways. I wanted a small computer to take along to check emails and check out camping sites as we go and make reservations. The size is just right and I have no trouble seeing the screen (I’m 60 and use my reading glasses)and for now I am just peck typing as I am very fast on my desktop and will practice to get used to the slightly smaller keyboard. I took it to our small local town and got right on the internet in the parking lot of a cafe. I can also get internet at home as my son has a router for this laptop. I downloaded AVAST security (free) and am happy with just the Microsoft Works as I don’t expect to be doing documents. I see no reason to upgrade to more Ram or full Windows 7. I run XP on my desktop and the transition was easy. 
Be aware that the Blue netbook is NOT textured like the Black as described in most reviews. It is smooth and a lovely color. I can deal with the fingerprints. I find the mousepad a bit difficult scrolling. It is not that responsive to the two/three fingers they talk about. I just use the up and down arrows. 
My son leaves his laptop plugged in and just closes the lid to put it to sleep. I did this after my netbook was fully charged and also when I unplugged it. WRONG! 
When my techy friend came to help me set up some things the unit shut down and completely reloaded everything. It took forever and there was nothing I could do. 
He said it was because I didn’t properly SHUT DOWN each time. He has since put a shut down widget, clock and calandar on my desktop. When my desktop slugs out (times when it is SO slow) I now go to the netbook and find it is faster loading and on the internet. I find no need for “n” network. For under 0 it is the PERFECT netbook.

Very pleased with my Eee PC. It’s fast, small, boots very quickly…..solid build, but what I have come to expect from Asus. Battery way outlasts my laptop. The 1 GB memory is ok, but I will be upgrading to 2GB after warranty is out. I r4commend a protective case, and a separate mouse…..I just don’t like scroll pads. Very viewable screen………..excellent performer, especially fo0r the $$. The N450 is much better than the older N270 or N280’s out there.

I am a duel enrolled student and travel between campuses a lot, if I need to whip out a paper and don’t want to sit in a computer lab this net book and a flash drive is a perfect combo! The opportunity from online advertising is clear – 18.3 million households in the UK last year with internet access, a new high of 70%, with 63% having broadband connections. In the last ten years online advertising has grown from £153 million to a staggering £3.54 billion (2009).

For a start up business or SME, without the knowledge and understanding of online advertising and the complexities of optimisation, taking the leap can be a daunting prospect.

First, there is the decision of running campaigns direct or via an agency.

Going direct will almost certainly require appointing an online marketer. Without it you could be spending thousands and literally getting zero new business back.

Appoint an agency and although you benefit from instant activity and no staff recruitment, you now face contracts, minimum terms, agency fees and minimum spends per month, not to mention limited transparency of how your campaign is performing on a daily basis.

Next you need to decide where you want to advertise, on Google for example, or across a network.

Finally and this is ever so important for effective online advertising, you need to ensure your ads are well targeted. There is obviously a list of ingredients that go to make up a strong and potentially successful campaign, but targeting is at the top. You need to find a network which uses targeting effectively enough, so that when you run pay per click campaigns you are only paying for relevant and highly profitable traffic.

Behavioural targeting ensures your adverts are only shown on sites based on the sites previously visited by the user. In other words, targeting users that are searching the web for the services like yours or closely related (or even services that from previous correlation data show a high propensity to then convert on the services you offer). Yield targeting looks at optimising on sites giving the greatest conversion, and contextual places ads on sites with related content.

Then you need to ensure you have full control over spend, can stop at any time, and can see clearly from reports at any time how your campaigns are performing. Ideally pay per click payments, with no penalty to stop campaigns, and easy to understand reports.

You also need to do some research on the internet to understand some of the key terms, including Click Through Rate, Conversion Rate, Quality Score (for Google), the pros and cons of paying by impressions or clicks, AB testing of different ad styles, and how to set up conversion tracking on the sign up page you need visitors to complete.

Lastly but by no means least, you need to ensure your site and in particular your landing pages for the ads and the sign up page is fully optimised, and you will need to add Google Analytics tracking code to your pages and analyse user behaviour through your site and where you are getting bounces.

Great little computer

I am not any kind of expert with computers. I bought the netbook because I had spilled wine on my 19″ laptop with disastrous results and wanted something smaller for traveling. This little machine is great for my uses. Also, because it has 3 USB ports I can run my printer/scanner/copier and any other machines I need. It really weighs almost nothing and I hardly notice it when I carry it with me. The wireless function is excellent as is the webcam for Skype. The only disadvantage is that it doesn’t have a DVD player to install software from disc. For the price, it is a great value. I also purchased the 3 year guarantee with accident protection. I don’t keep liquids near to the computer anymore, but just in case….

Will not replace desktop, but will suffice…for now.

Long story short: my laptop crashed and needed to replace my hard drive; didn’t have the time to do that so I stopped by microcenter on the way back to school (I’m a college student) and bought this little bugger. I had already been doing some research on netbooks. 

I thought this would be able to replace my laptop. WRONG. As much as I wanted this to replace my laptop, it will not. It just can’t. Drop that dream right now. 

I don’t know if it’s just me, but the netbook is unbearably slow compared to my laptop. This is probably because 1) it’s still on windows 7 starter and 2) I haven’t upgraded to 2GB of memory yet. Battery life is excellent. First day I got around 7 hours on a full charge (running word, chrome, anti-virus) 

It’s convenient because it’s small, light, etc. Not a fan of the “texture” – thought it would be more like the 1005peb, but I was wrong again. 

Nevertheless, I will live. However, I am looking to purchase a laptop/desktop. 

CONCLUSION: This will not replace your laptop/desktop. It is literally only good for browsing the web and maybe taking notes.

Surprisingly good little netbook

My wife wanted something for surfing/email/etc, so I told her that I would find a good deal on a netbook and get here one. I was worried about how the performance would be but I was pleasantly surprised with it. For what she uses it for, it is perfect. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for something similar.

Very pleased with my Eee PC. It’s fast, small, boots very quickly…..solid build, but what I have come to expect from Asus. Battery way outlasts my laptop. The 1 GB memory is ok, but I will be upgrading to 2GB after warranty is out. I r4commend a protective case, and a separate mouse…..I just don’t like scroll pads. Very viewable screen………..excellent performer, especially fo0r the $$. The N450 is much better than the older N270 or N280’s out there.
